Met some friends at the Hold in the Wall BBQ. It was their pick so we went to meet them. I don't care for smoky food and some BBQ places have everything smoked. Luckily, this place has a few choices for the non-Q lovers. The others had the brisket, pulled pork slider and a combo of ribs and brisket. I had chicken strips and mac & cheese. Everyone said their food was really good and the chicken strips were great and the mac & cheese was good. Service was good at first but then they vanished and I had to find someone to help find our server to get water. They were kind enough to not rush us when we were chatting. We tried the buffet. We have eating here before and it was delicious. The buffet not so much. For one thing the food is it the smallest room. There was no ribs and the brisket was used in their stew, Pulled pork was used in the sliders. That was tasty with the Roasted turkey and gravy, The salad bar. only had the 3 bean salad and slaw. the BBQ Sauce was very nice. For $16 all you can eat it is ok. But alas there was no desserts . We came here about 5pm on a Saturday as a group of six and were seated right away. We have been here many times. Both when we lived in the Springfield area and also when we come back to visit. When we lived in Reno, Nevada they often traveled to compete in the annual Rib Cook Off in Reno. We were brought menus and had our drink orders taken by Anilese. She informed us of their 30 year anniversary special featuring a whole rack of ribs, two sides and a corn muffin for $30.00. We decided to order a few appetizers including onion rings and sweet potato fries. We had two members of our family who chose the anniversary special while others ordered brisket, offered in either juicy or lean and I had a burger. Anilese was very attentive and checked on us often. When our food arrived it all looked delicious and the portions were large. We enjoyed our meals and we left stuffed. Super nice service, great people running the front,. Nice curb appeal, but does not measure up on the buffet, the food was not at a good temperature and everything was pre packaged or out of a can... I can do that at home and save a ton of money... really nothing special here. Poor choice to put nachos in a chafing dish in a buffet line. The chips were soggy and the dish was just out of place.... The seating was not great either... I was crammed in a corner booth that had no room... The buffet room was way too small... Go back to the drawing board on this one or just drop the buffet altogether... It is not good! read more

We just had our family Christmas dinner there this evening a little early, there was a total of 16 of us with kids. Our server Chris was amazing. He did awesome for how big of a group we were and was very attentive to any refills or making sure we had everything we needed. It's a cute place and the tap room for a party was perfect. The food was very good as well. The potato salad was probably one of the best I've ever had! Overall, I recommend for a date night or a big family get together! If you want a delicious lunch, then this is the spot for you. I got the Smokehouse Club with onion rings, and IT IS MASSIVE! I love that they grill the sourdough bread for that extra special flavor. He got the Cowboy Burger with fries, and the patty was perfectly smoked. Don't forget to ask for their housemade ranch - it's got smoke and spice flavors added. The waitstaff were all very friendly and welcoming. They checked in on us regularly and promptly brought items to the table. The food took a little longer than expected, but it was a busy Friday at lunchtime, and they had an event going on, so it's understandable. The restaurant is well kept and clean. It has a fairly large parking area, shared with another restaurant. It's not typically as full as it was on this visit, but, again, there was an event. If you are looking for good BBQ, this is not the place. While the restaurant itself is nice, the food is over priced, and the portions way too small for the price you are going to pay. I ordered the brisket plate and for $27.00 I got 3 uber thin pieces of meat with 3 tiny metal ramakins of side dishes. We had to stop on the way home and pick up a pizza the portions were so small. I have never felt like I was robbed going to a restaurant before going to hole in the wall. Even if the food had been exceptional ( and it wasnt) the price and portions will definately keep me from never coming back. read more

Secondly, the 3 driest, thinly sliced pieces of the most tasteless leather, aka brisket done wrong, I've ever seen. The baked beans had an almost metallic canned taste, the cornbread was pretty hard and not very flavorful. Let me keep going...I also got the pulled pork, which was chock full of fat, gristle and not a very big portion at all. Also came with mac&cheese, ehhhh it was mediocre at best. Overall the food had a tolerable flavor, but nothing to smack mama over, and certainly not enough to make this review sparkle in their favor....I don't think we'll ever go back here. Such a sad disappointment. I have wanted to try here for so long! Our waitress was the worst! We get there and she completely ignored us. Some other guy finally came and sat us. He was friendly. They had great Shirley temples!! Our waitress was super snappy and made us feel like we were annoying her. We ordered an fried pickles that never came. The food was not good at all. My son loved his ribs. The little cornbread was yummy but everything else was just not good we didn't even finish it. Our waitress never came for refills or to even check on us or give us the check. We finally just went up to pay and again she ignores us. Finally helps us. Yum! I hadn't been here in a long time and I'm glad we decided to come for dinner last night. They had a great $30 full rack of ribs dinner special. We got okra and beans with that and then my kids got onion rings, sliders, and chili. Everything was great. The cornbread is to die for. I do remember when we had gone before they would give you courtesy cornbread when you first arrived, but now you get 1 with your meal and if you want extra it's $1.50 per cornbread. We made it to Springfield, OR today and found this place for some linner! (Lunch & Dinner). Sara got a salad and I had a cup of the turkey soup and the ribs and pulled pork plate. First off a cup is 8 oz. The one they gave me was about 4 oz. then the portion size on my plate was great for the ribs (4) but the pulled pork was a small amount. Sorry but when you advertise a cup of soup, give me a cup of soup. Not impressed with my portions but the food was hot and good. I still will go to a different place if we are here again. read more

The pulled pork was amazing, and the house BBQ sauces were delicious. The fries and BBQ beans were also good. Their hot links are spicy, but very good, and the House mustard served with them were good. Plus, they have good corn muffins. I tried this place after months of wondering about it, and it's a place that I would want to bring my family to. It's also within walking distance of my apartment, which is a total plus as well. When it comes to BBQ, it has a tendency to either be awful or out of this world, and you can tell that they put their hearts into their cooking. Upon arrival, we were immediately seated and greeted by our server Tammy D. She was very nice and welcoming. After we exchanged pleasantries about our visit, my wife ordered the BQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and Texas Potatoes as the side, and I ordered the Tender Smoked Brisket (Juicy) with a side of Fresh-cut Fries. The food arrived very quickly and was excellent. The pulled pork was very tender and flavorful. The Texas Potatoes was so good and like a casserole. The smoked brisket was very juicy and full of slow smoked flavor. The fries were house made, hot and crisp. Tammy brought us four different bbq sauces to try. Two were a lil more spicy than the others. The food and service were both excellent. Give this place a try if you are in the area. read more
