We were in Houston for a convention staying at the Double Tree on JFK. We decided to try this place one night since it was the only real restaurant nearby. Unlike the other reviews, we have nothing but good things to say. Food was great for the money. We thought Breakfast buffet was really good. We had the Salmon dinner one night and that too was good. And believe you me my husband and I are very picky with Salmon since having lived in the Pacific Northwest where they know how to cook Salmon! As far as the staff, they were always friendly with us, went out of their way to accommodate us. (There was an instance where we were having dinner and a family nearby had a toddler misbehaving and being loud, parents were not helping. Don't get me wrong there is a place and time for toddlers to be loud, but not at dinner table and at restaurant.) Anyway the waitress went to that family and nicely said something to quiet them down. We were able to enjoy our evening. We would definitely go back again if we found ourselves in Houston. All in all our small town of Rockport, TX can do very well with a Restaurant like this! read more

I go to the airport very often. I decided to stop at the place named Hot Biscuit at John F Kennedy Blvd. surprisingly, the place was clean and the staff were very friendly. The atmosphere reminded me of a traditional restaurant with a decent decoration. I tried the Steak and Shrimp and it was great and tasty. Price was very reasonable. Service wasn't good, food was way overpriced for the quality, they give you enough, but they definitely choose quantity over quality. Not sure what a previous user meant to imply by indicating some patrons wore "blue jeans, etc." but I found the Hot Biscuit to be a great experience for a quick breakfast buffet. Waitress sat me immediately. Since I had come in about 15 minutes before the breakfast buffet ended (11 a.m.), told me I could either partake of the lunch buffet after ordering the breakfast version, or continue ordering breakfast items from the kitchen. Clientele were a mix of hard-working locals, white-collar types and others. Even near its end, the breakfast buffet was appetizing and varied. Grits could have been a bit thicker. Breakfast buffet is $7 and change. Would definitely stop in again. read more

Food is just in the OK mark. However service was really really slow. Me and my pals all had the 16 oz ranch steak none of them were cooked as asked. To make matters worst there was a huge huge huge cockroach walking on the selling, tons of people saw it and told the staff which response was "yeah we know, we've told the manager about it." Just wanted to write an update about my previous experience last month at Hot Biscuit. Hot Biscuit's General Manager, Jerry called earlier in the week and was sincerely apologetic about the whole incident. Jerry and I met at the restaurant for a discussion this past Thursday and I felt a whole lot better about things. When Jerry arrived at my table, I could tell immediately that he was a classy guy and someone who genuinely cared about his customers and the service his customers were receiving. The waitress who seated me was kind and cordial and made sure I was comfortable. Jerry refunded my money from before and offered to buy me lunch that day. Had I not already eaten breakfast and needing to run to a meeting, I would have definitely taken him up on it. I was eyeing the buffet and the food looked great, the aroma was especially tempting, and everything was confirmed when I saw people going back for second and third helpings. I now believe my prior experience to be isolated and I look forward to dining at Hot Biscuit in the very near future. I also shared with Jerry that I intend to refer friends and business associates to Hot Biscuits as well. That goes for anyone else who's looking for a great dining experience! T M. The worst all around restaurant I've ever eaten at. Dirty...looked like it had not been cleaned ever. My ice tea had an oil slick floating on the surface. Everything from the condiments to the eggs were the cheapest quality available. My pancakes were microwaved, biscuits did not live up to their name microwaved and served with cold gravy...yuk! I understand this is a dining spot for the travelers staying at the nearby hotels, and we are locals, first mistake. We took a coupon from a local neighborhood newspaper which we were told they normally do not honor but they did (with some edge on the attitude). We arrived around 1pm thinking we were going to have Lunch buffet. The items were the still left from breakfast food items: soggy potatoes, soggy french toast, dry mini pancakes, starting-to-dry breakfast meats. Since I do not eat breakfast meats, I can say I enjoyed the cold cereal and the fruit. I suppose because they do serve the hotel guests their prices are high for what they serve: for 1 Senior & 1 Adult the total would have been $22.47 but since they gave the discount it was only $18.00 for 2 breakfast buffets and 2 coffees. I was looking for somewhere decent to eat just to have some coffee and relax and read the paper, I decided to stop at the Hot Bisquit from the moment I walked in I recieved great service. My wife and I went to the "Hot Biscuit", I ordered a club sand which and my wife ordered Chicken fried steak. Half way through my wife's chicken dinner she found a worm! We notified the waitress and she smashed the worm between her fingers and mumbled something as she took the worm back to the kitchen. When the check came the waitress didn't say one word about having a worm in the chicken fried steak, and there was no discount on the dinner! It's not a fancy place but it is the only weekday breakfast buffet in North Houston, for me that gives it a lot of value. Betty, Christina, Jessica, Cheri and the rest of the wait staff are always friendly and attentive. Management is always visible. I like the bacon, scrambled eggs with the onions, green peppers and ham slices in it, biscuits and grits. The french toast and pancakes are also good. Sometimes i will get watermelon, canteloupe or peaches off the fresh fruit section. The food quality has improved. No I don't work there, but I do eat in there enough that they know me by name. I have found that wherever I eat, that being friendly and generous to the waitstaff usually means I receive friendly, prompt service. read more

I placed a to go order from Hot Biscuit on JFK for lunch today which consisted of 2 egg whites, 2 sausage patties, 2 biscuits, 1 plain pancake, a side of hash browns and an orange juice. I ONLY drank the orange juice. I will NEVER order from there AGAIN! The egg whites were smothered in butter, biscuits had mold on them, pancake was under cooked and the hash browns tasted like they've been recooked. read more

Last night, me and a friend went to dine at this restaurant called Hot Biscuits, off of JFK near IAH airport. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I ordered the seafood platter with corn and carrots. The food took forever to come. And, I was brought a plate of scraps, literally! The crab cakes were cold; the waitress forgot the vegetables and when she did bring them, they were cold also. When we asked this other waitress to find our waitress, she asked what was wrong. When we told her the crab cakes and veggies were cold, she rudely asked "then why didn't you say something earlier. I can't do anything after you've eaten the crab cakes". You know, like it was our fault that they serve people cold food. Initially, I wasn't even going too complain about the crab cakes but when the vegetable also came out cold, that pretty much did it. Terry (Manager) was EXTREMELY rude, unprofessional, and nasty. Even the guy at our hotel, the Ramada said they had gotten complaints about her crappy attitude. In any event, they seem a little too shady, and underhanded for me. After them forgetting our vegetables, then bringing us cold vegetables, we didn't want to risk a 3rd strike so we passed on given them a third try to get it wrong. We asked them to at least deduct the price for the cold corn and okra , which they outright refused and charged us the full $36.00. So in essence, we paid close to 5 bucks for vegetables we didn't even consume, and in essence 36 bucks for stinking attitudes, bad service, and food not even fit for a pig. How crooked and underhanded is that ? Terry continued to be nasty all throughout. IF YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD, DON'T EAT THERE. Besides that the place didn't look very clean. read more
