Always trying out local food spots when on a trip. This was during a South TX Royal Rangers leadership conference where I taught a Bible-based card game. The restaurant was near my hotel. Waitress was hospitable and professional. I ordered Big Papa from a suggested best-selling breakfast section in their menu. Well, breakfast was alright but not bad at all. Food and service are good but they charge a junk fee to use a credit card and even a debit card of all things. A cost of doing business that from.their prices seems to already be in the menu prices but they feel they can also rip off customers with a junk fee. The way I deal with those "junk" fees is the come right off my base tip. The servers while hard working can go to the owners for the rest since they seem to feel the need to rip customers off. This place is a hit or miss, We go here often but today she brought me almost raw bacon. I just don't understand you could clearly look at it and tell it was raw!!! I had a great time here and the service was pleasant. The parking lot is a huge lot shared with other stores in the strip center. The restaurant is pretty large and the tables are not cramped. The menu is extensive. I got the pork chop which comes with 2 pork chops, sliced potatoes, two eggs (made the way you want), and choice of pancakes or French toast. I chose the French toast. You know what they say about if it's busy it's got to be good? It's true here, too! Breakfast gets us back again. The California scramble is my favorite - and the one with the crispy tortilla chips!! This place is a must, at least once a week. It is better to get there early or maybe an hour or two before they close. Even if there us a line, the food will be worth the wait. I don't visit very many country cooking type places these days for a few reasons: they're simply not that good anymore, the good places have all closed down, and there are simply not many restaurants to even choose from. I've driven by this restaurant, located in the same building as the popular Indian buffet at the end cap, numerous times but I've never stopped in until today. They mostly serve breakfast and then lunch for a few hours and close at 3pm daily. The interior decor is of course country with a large amount of chickens everywhere, made of plastic, porcelain, metal, stuffed, paintings, artwork, you name it. I visited to try their chicken fried steak. There are only a couple of places in town that even serve a decent version, so I was hoping this place would replace Humble Inn which closed down a couple of years ago. I ordered the chicken fried steak with 2 sides: onion rings and green beans. I also added a sweet tea which comes in a Mason jar. When it was brought to the table, my first thought was it looks a little small for $11. It comes with 2 hush puppies as well, which I've never seen on the same plate as CFS before. The steak cutlet was thick and good and extends all the way to the edge with no extra breading like you see at many other places. Breading was crispy, so I am guessing they cook it in a deep fryer. Gravy was fine, I chose white, but they also have brown. Green beans are canned and contain bits of bacon. Onion rings are the typical frozen variety. Service was good though and didn't take too long, like some other reviews indicated. It was decent but not awesome, and not exactly a great deal, so I'm not sure I will be dying to come back anytime soon. read more

Cute little home town breakfast spot with great service. Our server, Alex was extremely attentive, never leaving our drinks empty. Asked if we would like any sides or condiments, checked on us frequently and even gave us drinks to go! What a sweetheart The food had very little wait time and was made exactly how we ordered it. I don't normally eat breakfast at a restaurant. When I do it's typically Denny's or IHOP. My wife and I decided to try something different today so we went to the country scramble café. The place was was large spacious and clean. Unlike mornings on the weekends that were very few people there at the time. The menu obviously focused on various breakfast dishes with a heavy emphasis on eggs. (They also serve brunch and lunch.) If you want to get a sense of how well they prepare various breakfast foods try the Big Papi combo breakfast. For $8.99 you get: 3 eggs, 2 slices of Bacon, 2 pieces of ham and 2 sausage patties in addition to French toast or pancakes and fried potatoes! Everything was done well. However I did prefer the nice hickory smoked and crispy bacon over the other meats. The French toast was also very flavorful. Good choice if you're in the neighborhood. read more

The order was at my door in about 20 minutes and piping hot! I was so impressed and when I saw the food, I was ready to dig in, lol. The first bite sealed the deal everything was fresh and delicious. Waitresses don't make sure your order is correct before they bring it to you, also when you get your food it's cold...smh They also charge you a fee for using a credit card without telling you. If a customer knows about it they may opt to pay with cash. Also, You're missing half your food based off the menu and the waitresses pay no attention to it. When I first walked in I was instantly greeted. The server Lauren was pretty nice. Brought me my coffee and although I forgot to ask, she brought me a water too. From the initial call to see what were the requirements for this establishment due to the recent pandemic to walking in and ordering and eating, hands down, AWESOME! Found this little gem on Grubhub! This cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and doesn't disappoint. The food is really good and they have an extensive menu. I always pass by on weekends and it's packed. I decided to come on a weekday which was a much better decision. The food portions are big enough to fill you up. My only complaint is that when I was being served my coffee, our waitress spilled some on the table and didn't even wipe it off :/ It's common courtesy not to leave your mess on my table. We saw this local place and decided to stop in for breakfast. Wow! What a find! Great pancakes with breakfast and don't forget to get the grilled potatoes. The chicken tenders are hand bread and excellent. Cheri was our server, she made us feel like old friends and long-time patrons of this establishment.
