Big Papa breakfast.
R C.

Always trying out local food spots when on a trip. This was during a South TX Royal Rangers leadership conference where I taught a Bible-based card game. The restaurant was near my hotel. Waitress was hospitable and professional. I ordered Big Papa from a suggested best-selling breakfast section in their menu. Well, breakfast was alright but not bad at all. Just an ordinary good old country-style breakfast. Their grits were great. 5 stars mainly due to ambience and amazing service. The restaurant is homey and clean. The ambience was great.

Nice breakfast place. Not really busy on a weekday morning. Very clean with country and faith based decor. Staff were friendly. Banana Nut pancakes taste exactly like banana nut bread and were delicious. Solid cup of coffee.

I had a great time here and the service was pleasant. The parking lot is a huge lot shared with other stores in the strip center. The restaurant is pretty large and the tables are not cramped. The menu is extensive. I got the pork chop which comes with 2 pork chops, sliced potatoes, two eggs (made the way you want), and choice of pancakes or French toast. I chose the French toast. All the items were excellent and tasted fresh. Potatoes were a bit salty for me, but I understand everyone has their own preference. Will return

Cute little home town breakfast spot with great service. Our server, Alex was extremely attentive, never leaving our drinks empty. Asked if we would like any sides or condiments, checked on us frequently and even gave us drinks to go! What a sweetheart The food had very little wait time and was made exactly how we ordered it. Definitely a place you'd like to bring the family on a Saturday morning, or anytime. Friendly staff, very clean and a good home cooked feel. Thanks for your hospitality Alex!!

I don't normally eat breakfast at a restaurant. When I do it's typically Denny's or IHOP. My wife and I decided to try something different today so we went to the country scramble café. The place was was large spacious and clean. Unlike mornings on the weekends that were very few people there at the time. The menu obviously focused on various breakfast dishes with a heavy emphasis on eggs. (They also serve brunch and lunch.) If you want to get a sense of how well they prepare various breakfast foods try the Big Papi combo breakfast. For $8.99 you get: 3 eggs, 2 slices of Bacon, 2 pieces of ham and 2 sausage patties in addition to French toast or pancakes and fried potatoes! Everything was done well. However I did prefer the nice hickory smoked and crispy bacon over the other meats. The French toast was also very flavorful. Good choice if you're in the neighborhood.

When we arrived, First Watch looked pretty busy, but we were pleasantly surprised that we were seated right away. The hostess was very kind and welcoming, and our waiter was just as nice... cordial, helpful, and attentive throughout our visit. The service was definitely one of the highlights. For food, we both ordered the Trifecta. I chose the waffle with potatoes instead of eggs, along with their chicken sausage patty, and I added a side salad with mixed greens and a lemon herb dressing. I also added a side of chicken. Initially, I thought the chicken breast would be about $2.50, but before placing the order our waiter came back and clarified that it would be about $5 and would come as strips instead of a full chicken breast. I appreciated him coming back to correct that. When the chicken came out, it was sliced into very thin pieces and was a little lukewarm. I mentioned it to the waiter, and he apologized and handled it professionally by removing it from the bill, which I appreciated. Overall, the food was okay, about a 3.5 out of 5 for me. The waffle was tasty, just as I remembered, and the potatoes were good as well. However, the chicken sausage patty wasn't very good. I personally didn't enjoy it and ended up leaving it on the plate. My husband ordered the pancake with pecans, scrambled eggs, and a side of grits with butter, and he enjoyed his meal. One thing I did like was that you can now pay your bill directly from your phone, which makes it really convenient when you're ready to go without waiting. Overall, the big win here was the service and hospitality. The staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient, and we appreciated being seated quickly even when it seemed busy. The food was decent, though I've had better, but the service made the experience pleasant.

I had the salmon eggs benedict, as I always do... It did not taste good at all. The Salmon didn't taste like real fish. Tags were bland and the only thing I really liked were the fresh red onions. Bummer. Now, I always like to wash it down with a purple haze... Thankfully it was still really tasty. Maybe the cooks were tired. *Shrugs* Lol. They close at 2:30 and I came in at 2:00 The inside was pretty empty with only maybe four tables in use. It was relaxing atmosphere... so maybe if I go another day during peak hours, it will taste better. We shall see. I haven't given up on you yet!

Back then, I believe we used to have a flyer/menu from them that some employees ordered from. I visited on a cold day where most of the customers were taking their orders to-go. The setup is a little confusing at first, but you just go down the serving line and stop when someone asks you for your order. You can get a tray, or not, depending on how many plates or dishes you ordered. The ready area (for dine-in customers) is weirdly placed in the middle of the line and the spot for to-go orders is at the end of the line next to the last register. Once your order has been places, you grab the ticket and take it to a register. This setup reminds me of a little local deli I used to visit regular in Stafford. I will say that their selection of hot sandwiches and specialty sandwiches is limited. Most are 1 protein only which is probably how they can keep their prices so low. I asked the order taker if you could customize or make a hot roast beef sandwich or toast it and first she didn't understand me, then she just repeated the two hot sandwich options from the menu. I again asked can you make the sandwich toasted, then she said yes. The sandwich, by default, comes on French bread. I wasn't familiar enough with the menu to pick another bread so I just stuck with French. I chose provolone cheese. It comes out after a few mins and it's nicely toasted and ended up being a nice size sandwich with an adequate meat to bun ratio. The sandwich also comes with a pickle spear. I also added a cup of homemade chili which is pretty decent. The meat is finely ground and I prefer it to be more coarse, but the flavor was good. All of their entrees and side dishes have low prices. One of the best deals is the "classic" sandwich which comes with prosciutto. An even better deal may be their baked potatoes with 4 toppings for only $2.09 weekdays!
