I feel they put thought into the blends you could pick from. though it was not clear from the website that afternoon tea only includes hot tea and if you wanted the iced tea it would cost extra. it would be nice for that to be mentioned somewhere because i feel they spent a lot of time outlining all the other details on the website. the service that day was slow, i think there may have been just one server for everyone inside the shop and it was pretty busy. so i think that influenced that side of it. but things happen. overall my experience was great and would love to come back. read more

My daughter's God mom wanted to take her out for lunch and wanted somewhere quaint, we went to walk around Old Town Spring and I mentioned having tea, and I decided I'd give The tea Kettle another try because in fact the food was great last time it was just miscommunication and service was a little off. This time we didn't have a reservation but we were told we'd be able to dine in 20mins so we walked the shops a bit more. When it was time we got a call to come back and was seated and hosted by , she was sweet. Ordered off the main menu and got a peach tea, which was delicious by itself but I like my teas a little sweet so we got some sugar and honey as sweeteners. We also got the fairy water for the baby girl. (She loves it) The grilled cheese and soup is so tasty and comes out hot which is also good for a soup. The portions (Caprese sandwich and mushroom sandwich) were so filling but we ate it all, even the accompanying salads. This is a very cute place in old town Spring, TX. I took my 7 year old granddaughter for tea. It was $25 for her and $35 for me for a couple finger sandwiches, tea and small desserts and scones. The scones were choc full of raisins which are a no for both my granddaughter and I. They gave us some blueberry and white chocolate ones that were so sickeningly sweet. We couldn't eat either option. Next time, we'll just order off the menu. Out server was very nice and accommodating, but I think they should give you a heads up on what type of scones they have. We had our friends in from out of town and decided to reserve a table for the valentines tea at The Tea Kettle Cafe. Amazing! Everything was delicious and the service was amazing. It was as authentic a high tea can be without being in England. We had our choice of 4 teas our choices were Gossimer, butterbeer, twinkle and black cherry.. after a bit of our two towers of small bites including egg salad, spinach croquettes, veggie sushi, tomato and goat cheese and so much more. The top tier had chocolate dipped strawberries, cannolis, cherry cookies.. all to die for. Came here on a recent afternoon for a tea service/lunch. A table had been reserved for our party of 4 (3 adults and one child), and the staff was waiting for us when we arrived. Lovely little cafe with uniquely-painted walls and an eclectic collection of china and tea cups at your table. Service was good, but at times the one server did look as if she was taking care of everyone that had stopped by in addition to us. Quite a few of the tables were occupied, and she appeared to be running back and forth between them . . . Teas were delicious. I had an iced ginger peach tea (not really a hot tea drinker) and I was very pleased with it. No sugar needed on this iced tea since the flavor stands out by itself and, in my opinion, would be marred by any additions. Finger sandwiches, scones and mini desserts were beautifully arranged. I seemed to be drawn to the finger sandwiches, and each one I had was very good - yes, there was quite a variety, too. Others in my party jumped at the scones (not a fan); I could tell they were thoroughly enjoyed since all of them disappeared in no time! While this is a charming little tea cafe, I'd honestly recommend skipping the food and coming for a cup of tea and a scone. The food was pretty mediocre -- we had a salmon salad and a slice of quiche. Both were unimpressive. I'm not the best cook but I can make better versions of these items at home. The salmon tasted extra fishy for some reason. That being said, I loved my drink selections. I had a Butterfly Pea Blueberry Lemonade and it was delicious. I also dried their Bibliophilia tea and their Nymph tea -- I enjoyed both. My favorite item however was their scone (lavender and white chocolate). It was really tasty (came with cream and strawberry jam). Yum. Their service was pretty good -- a little on the slow side. Friendly though. My one tiny gripe would be their commitment to taking our menus away, haha. We asked to initially keep the menu after ordering but got distracted with conversation and later realized the menu was gone. I asked the hostess for another. Going forward, they tried to take it away twice. I had to point it out. It was comical -- it's really in their best interest that we hold onto it -- especially with all the tea selections. Silly. It was easy to get a table on an early Saturday afternoon but I believe you need a reservation for a tea service. Ultimately, tea is what they do best. I have never been able to get myself to like the hot leaf-juice, which always tasted like barely-flavored water to me. Even so, the Tea Kettle Cafe is a lovely place, and recently I went with my Mom to enjoy the lunch menu and have a cup of hot chocolate. I mentioned, off-handedly, that I don't like tea. My server paused, eyeing me, and asked, "Can you tell me what it is about tea that you don't like?" After I described my issue, she vanished for a bit and brought me a small cup of a tea blend she called "Daydreamer" and asked me to try it. To my astonishment, I loved it. The key for people like me, I was told, is using way more loose leaf than is usually called for per cup of water, plus sugar (or honey). I have been back often since then, and so far I have picked up a packet of Daydreamer and another called "Calm Your Apricots." I brought my Mom, my husband, and a close friend over to enjoy the calm, peaceful atmosphere. The servers are very sweet and super friendly, and everyone's happy to offer recommendations. Now that I know what I've been doing wrong, I am diving into a whole new world of tea. I am ready to try every flavor for as long as I am in town and drag every friend I can into this relaxing space. We chose this place because the ambiance and the food looked unique. They also had great reviews. Now I would say the service was amazing! Very attentive and the tea and scones were delicious BUT the food was not good at all! Had the egg salad sandwich and it just didn't have any flavor. It was just egg and honestly tasted like they added like a ramen packet or chicken bouillon cube to it but that was it. Just on a plain white bread. A friend of mine got the salad sampler with chicken salad, tuna salad, and egg salad and when she brought it to the table it just smelt terrible! The smell was so strong! I'm guessing the tuna? But it didn't smell like tuna to me. I know I should say something while I'm at the establishment but it wasn't my food to complain about and we were there for a birthday so I just wanted to enjoy our time and not cause a fuss. Great little spot to celebrate a special occasion. The tea is amazing, and the cutest little place to go for a tea party. The kids set up was SO awesome with the "fairy tea" and Nutella sandwiches. The only disappointment were the adult sandwiches as they were not impressive as far as what is offered. Everything else was tasty and we had a great time celebrating my moms 60th birthday. This is all my personal opinion of what I experienced yesterday. In the past, there was a charming traditional British tea house in Old Town Spring that held a special place in my heart. My Mum and I used to frequent it when I was younger, and it always made us feel like we were back in the UK. Recently, I discovered another tea house in the spring and decided to surprise my mum with an afternoon tea reservation, as this tradition holds significant cultural importance for us. However, our experience at this new tea house was disappointing. The sandwiches were lackluster, with stale bread and an imbalance of bread to filling. The slicing of the bread should be thinner. The scones were undercooked and resembled American biscuits rather than traditional scones. The portion of cream provided was minuscule, far from the normal servings we were accustomed to. You want it to be slathered in cream or jam. There was enough for a crumb but I couldn't eat it anyway as it was undercooked inside. Not sure of course and this is coming from my working knowledge of sourcing but the desserts seemed store-bought and lacked freshness, with an overwhelming sweetness and artificial taste. The selection did not complement the sandwiches and scones well, missing the mark for a traditional afternoon tea experience. Cannolis are great as a dessert option and low labor intense so I get it but not the most complimentary to the other items. Victoria sponge anyone? Actually if you ever are in NYC Tea and Sympathy is fantastic! Best Victoria sponge I've had in the US. Great for research or inspiration. Fortnum and Mason, TWG tea, St Regis, The Savoy, The ritz are all amazing examples of a proper indulgent afternoon tea. In Houston the st Regis and Bistro Menil are decent options. I would recommend studying them and gaining inspiration to serve their clients a lovely experience. Furthermore, the tea served was not loose leaf I believe, but rather from tea bags, which do not compare in flavor to loose leaf tea. The waitress said it was, but it would make no sense to strain the tea twice. The overall quality of the food and service did not justify the cost, leaving us feeling unsatisfied. The lack of attention to detail and poor service, including a delay in serving tea till we asked and a general lack of efficiency, added to our disappointment. As someone working in the hospitality industry, I observed these shortcomings with dismay, knowing that they could be easily rectified to enhance the overall experience for guests. It is disheartening to see the Americanized version of afternoon tea fall short of the simple yet classic standards. It seems only when someone from the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Hong Kong, and Japan managed it does it work. The potential for success is there, especially with a British shop nearby that could provide inspiration for improvement. Their frozen scones are of a higher quality and are cooked through. I'd rather that be a food service item than the desserts if they were getting it from a British distributor. From a food safety perspective I wasn't crazy about all the cracked plates and dishes we were being served on. The cutlery was also very diner like. It just doesn't look polished or nice. As customers we don't just pay for the food but the whole experience. For what was charged you should be able to maintain your equipment. I had hoped for this new tea house to become a favorite spot for my mother and me, but the missed opportunities and lackluster execution have left me hesitant to return. I believe that with some adjustments and a renewed focus on quality and service, this tea house could truly shine and provide a memorable experience for all guests, especially Mother-Daughter duos like us. Health and safety standards are not being adhered to here and hopefully the owner takes responsibility as multiple different customers have complained about the same thing. This cute little place is probably great for a "special tea party." I made what I thought to be a lunch reservation for a party of 5 at 11 am. When I was asked for a CC to secure the reservation, I thought it was strange but didn't question it. I should have. When we were seated at our table, there was confusion over what the waitress said. As it turned out, my reservation was for "tea," which included the usual afternoon tea sandwiches, etc. It should have been explained to me that I was booking a $32.00 per person tea when I made the reservation. I wanted to make sure we could have a table available when we arrived. I asked the manager or owner (I'm not sure which) if it could be switched because we wanted to order off the menu since it was our first visit. She reluctantly agreed to change it. At the end of our lunch, I apologized for the misunderstanding. She explained that generally, when a reservation is a "no-show," there is a 1/2 price charge of the total. She then agreed only to charge me 1/4 of the price to which I agreed. However, I believe it was her responsibility to ask if my reservation was for a "tea" or clarify what I was making a reservation for. If, as she said, they had not brought the sandwiches to our table so she could still use them, why did there need to be a charge at all? She was not out anything! No one was waiting for a table, and we all ordered lunch and drinks. The food was not impressive either. My friend and I saw that there was the option of a Harry Potter themed wizard high tea in October. We were very excited and wore our wizardly costumes. We arrived at the tea room after making reservations two weeks in advance. The staff seemed confused and kept us waiting in the entrance while they consulted lists and whispered. We waited for our tea another forty five mins trying to get a staff members attention with no luck before she came out of a back room and told us she forgot to brew it. This is my second time attending high tea and the lack of service and confusion takes away from the fun of tea date. Started off with calling this place to inquire about a bridal shower for my bff, and by the sound of the voice, it sounded like a young girl by the name of Krista who was assisting me. She was difficult to understand, therefore I would recommend communicating with Khindra, whom is most knowledgeable about event bookings. I also had a few rude encounters each time I spoke to Krista, which made it very hard to commit to booking the event. However, I was on a tight timeline, in which would be difficult to inquire a different cafe. Regardless, Khindra and I were very thorough throughout the process, and communicated nicely via email and by phone. All details and pricing were spelled out verbally and on email, which helped out tremendously. The cafe offers minor decorations like table cloths, seat ribbons and linens, and themed desserts, which all comes with additional cost. However you are allow to bring your own as you wish. Champagne is not offered, though it is BYOB with a cork fee per bottle. The moment we had been all waiting for after over a month of planning this event... Khindra and her staff really helped all our dreams come true with this event. She allowed me to come half an hour early to set up minor decors and such. She also allowed me to make a backdrop with whatever wall I could use in my room. Make sure to ask what is/is not allow such as confetti, as that is difficult for clean up for most businesses. The whole experience was lovely, and I really love how Khindra frequently checked up on us to make sure we were content. I definitely would come back and recommend to my friends and family. My girlfriends are already ready to come back for another tea party! My only con that is keeping me from coming back is the pricing for the amount of food you get. It is deemed to be more of a light snack regardless if you opt for the light or full afternoon tea. The scones could have been better... fairly dense an dry. I'd hate to leave a bad review because I've heard great things about this place, but things didn't go well. I invited a few of my co-workers for afternoon high tea. The mistake was not making reservations. While we were the second group to be seated, they couldn't offer any tea services because there was a baby shower going on in the back room, and I guess there were others who made tea service reservations. Our waiter specifically asked us if we were interested in doing the tea service today. We said yes and placed our orders. He literally came back 15-20 minutes later to tell us that we couldn't do the light afternoon tea service because there were so many going on. Three of us requested it, and I asked if we could do at least one for the group, and they couldn't. I don't know why it took him so long to tell us after placing the order. There were 5 of us - 4 adults and one child. We had to ask for silverware and tea cups when my friend and I came just a few minutes later than our other 2 friends. The items on the menu were limited. They didn't have a lot of the soups listed on their menu. When we were almost done, just finishing our large pot of tea and chatting, some guy came to clean off our table while we were still seated. He took away mine and my friend's cup away. It was still in front of me, and I had just sipped it. So rude. I looked at him and said we weren't done. Yes, we just literally paid, but we still have this giant pot of tea. Then some lady came shortly after to rush us out because she needed our table for a reservation of 7. Excuse me? That's your problem. We are also paying customers finishing our tea. This establishment is a tea place that offers tea services. How can you run out of tea services and not accommodate for walk ins, and on top of that, rush customers out? The creamy basil tomato soup was delicious. Crackers tasted old and stale.
