Suffice to say, I read almost all the reviews on here prior to sharing this experience (still looking for this restaurant on google, which is where I typically write all my reviews - good/bad). Let me start by saying that Jamie the server is exceptional at what he does and is 95% of the time doing it by himself. That being said, he gets my grace and he always aims to please his customers in my opinion, even if it takes him some time to accomplish it, and that I believe customers value generally. The food here was always good in my opinion, especially for where we were. When he is not around, I guess you could say "all hell breaks lose". There is a female that works here on the weekends and she is horrible, if that is any way to describe the most horrific restaurant experience one could have. While it is clear that most of these reviews are a few years back, mine is quite recent (March 2026). I give people the benefit of the doubt and it was my 2nd experience with her that did it. As I always say, when people show you who they are, believe them. She sucks and she does not belong in "any" environment that has customer service as their goal because she knows not what that is. When I walked up to the bar to place my order, 2 other females that I am familiar with were sitting there apparently waiting on her to serve them as well. She acknowledged me with an attitude after I nudged her (because I was standing there a while and was being ignored). And yes, she was very present on the cash register doing I don't know what, that could have been more important than serving waiting customers. Once enough time had passed, I exchanged words with the other ladies waiting, only to find out that they too had been sitting for a significant period of time waiting on her. Once I made it clear that there was no reason for me to wait 40 mins for a glass of wine while the server was present (because this particular evening, that's all I wanted), I walked away, and they did shortly after as well. A few minutes later, in reiterating my experience to another party, I was told that 4 other persons walked away from the restaurant a few hours earlier because of her. So in total, that day (it was a Saturday), this restaurant lost the business of at least 7 people (that we know of) because of 1 bad employee. As a business owner, that smells like defeat. I hope the owner sees this and gets rid of her. I am not one quick to see people lose their jobs for any reason, actually I am quick to beg an employer to let the employee keep their job, but not this time around. She belongs behind a closed door where she has zero contact with the outside world. Despicable. The reason I'm just now writing this if you're wondering, is because I just left a very popular busy restaurant and the service, ambiance and food were all top notch. So I came on here to write a god review for them, then I remembered this bad experience. read more

This is a really good restaurant in the Hyatt Regency North. I stay in this hotel every time I come to Houston for work and I've eaten in this restaurant quite a few times. The breakfast buffet is really good and has a good variety of food. On this visit there was always scrambled eggs and biscuits with sausage gravy. There were pancakes one day, breakfast sandwiches another. They always have omelet station and fruit and meat and cheese too. Dinner time offers a good variety. I tried the quesadillas which were really good, the mahi mahi was pretty good too. My favorite thing here is the salmon strawberry salad. Delish! Staff are really friendly. read more

Came here after a day in the airport and on planes so we were looking forward to a good meal. I had the veggie tortellini with cream sauce. Unfortunately the cream sauce actually looked and tasted like a weak cream soup and the pasta tasted like the frozen variety from Costco. My husband had chicken and waffles. The waffle was doughy but the whipped cream was good. I'm not sure what kind of sandwich the one other couple in the restaurant had, but they left behind half of it (perhaps they just weren't hungry). Not a place that we will ever come back. read more

I feel like I need to leave this review for people like me who are mainly looking for how good the food is and don't mark places down because of perceived bad service However, we sat at the bar and the service was excellent. Woke up bright and early during a convention for some breakfast. Me and my friend waited over 30 minutes for some one to even come by and ask for our drink. Even trying to flag down staff failed. We watched two tables get cleared, cleaned, new groups patrons sit down, get their drinks, get their food before we called it. After getting up to leave we mentioned that we were never even talked to and the older blond employee didn't even know we were sitting down. 0 system for managing tables so we walked away hungry and frustrated. read more

I've stayed at the Hyatt many times in the past 5 years, and I always enjoy dining at Sam's. I don't doubt that others have had poor experiences, but mine have always been good to excellent. I do normally eat at the bar rather than in the restaurant. The drinks are great and meal service is usually very good. Could I get better food elsewhere? No doubt, but considering the convenience when staying at the Hyatt it is very good and is recommended for anyone staying at the hotel. read more

Don't let a couple of negative reviews put you off. This is a nice place for a drink and a light meal. This isn't a fine dining place but the staff is friendly and attentive, the food selection while limited is sufficient, portions are large. The bar area is open and light, a couple of TVs to provide some entertainment, and not too noisy. The dining room is more like a cave so sit in the bar. We had the South Western salad and the Turkey Croissant, both were tasty and filling. Wine pours were generous. Overall a good experience. read more

Very surprised by this place. The reviews had me deceived. We had the burger and the chicken Caesar salad. Both were very good.

My fiancé and I got in super late on a flight from Jamacia we were tired and had been traveling the whole day we just needed food and a bed ! We arrived 5 mins before the kitchen closed . I was greeted my Micheal who was running the bar at the restaurant inside the regency called Sams restaurant ....he seriously puts meaning in the saying " southern hospitality " even though he was busy counting the register , and performing closing duties He put in a full orDer of food for us and did it with a smile ! Employees like Michael are the reason why my fiancé and I will come back and stay at that hotel ! Customer service was beyond anything we could of imagined he made our stay super welcoming he is so friendly and his personality is contagious !!! We can't say how thankful we were to run across Michael even though it was the end of his shift he made sure that we were taken care of and serviced ! I arrived at the restaurant and asked where I should sit because there were 2 dining areas. The waiter said "yeah" and walked away as I asked him where the menu's were. I sat down and waited a few minutes, I was brought a water. I waited for over 15 minutes later and no one had acknowledged me. I went up to the bar where the waiter and bartender were talking about another customer (who was rude) and there were 10 people total, all of them except 1 arrived before me and had already ordered and were completely done with their meals. 1 person received their meal as I sat down. I told them I had been sitting for over 10 minutes and needed to place my order and the waiter said "what did you want." I ordered it. Said whatever, I need to eat, and went on to sit. The waiter then came over and said "I wanted to tell you if you feel I had an attitude I didn't". The other guy said you thought I had one." I never mentioned this to anyone, aside from going up to order my food, I hadn't talked to anyone. I told him I wouldn't have been mad except I heard them just talking and he made eye contact with me twice before I approached the bar to order, without any sort of acknowledgement. He went on again to talk about how he didn't have an attitude. No one said anything about an attitude. I got my check before my order and he placed it on my table and walked away. No sorry, nothing. Terrible customer service. I can agree with the other review in which no one ever came to their table. Sounds like it's a trend. Hope this helps someone choose to not eat here.
