I stopped in this past Friday for some crowlers to-go. As this was my first visit, I tried three different offerings. First off, their online ordering is slick and seamless. Secondly, they seem to have adapted well to the pandemic with adequate spacing between their outdoor tables. I would definitely feel comfortable having some pints in their beer-garden. If you are as excited about Austin FC (soon-to-be season ticket holder) these guys are within easy walking distance to the gorgeous new stadium. I can see myself having pre-match beers here before taking the short walk to the stadium. Now on to the important stuff: the beer! I opted for their Kate la Quimica SMaSH IPA, Professor Pleasant pale ale, and my personal favorite style Sir Winsor ESB. I found the SMaSH to be my favorite, it was a fantastic representation of the style, 9/10. My second favorite was the ESB, major kudos for carrying this style that is far too rare state-side. It was delicious and my second favorite of that style in town 8/10 (bonus point for a well-done obscure style). I thought the pale ale was fair, I found it to be a bit one-note. Though pleasant on the nose, it lacked a similar nuance on the palate 6/10. All said, I will definitely be back to try their extensive and varied roster of brews. First, I need to say the vibes here 10/10. We came pretty late in a Thursday, not many people there but the music was banging and the beer was great. They have a great indoor and outdoor seating arrangement. They don't sell food; however, they had two different food trucks in their outdoor area. They said the weekends can get pretty crazy. The Q2 stadium is right across the street so if they have a game, expect it to get packed. They also have board games you can plan with friends. Will definitely be going back. read more

We chanced upon Hopsquad recently, and I don't think I've ever been more comfortable at any other brewery in Austin. I do agree that their beer is still probably finding its footing (Austin does have a competitive craft beer scene, after all), but I don't think other places can hold a candle to Hopsquad's absolutely chilled out homey vibes. I'll do a pros and cons list. Pros: - I can bring my human +canine children and seat them indoors. - the staff actually don't mind human children. -cider and wine available for non-beer drinkers -the staff like my canine child (and there are plenty of other dog parents who visit which means you can play "I pet that dog!") - board games - foosball table - plenty of space Cons - I truly believe there are better beers out there. - cider portions are small - from a can and a little steep , price wise So when you weigh the two, the pros beat the cons by a mile. As for the beer- give them time. I mean, no one really cared about a few other noted breweries 5 years ago but look how popular they've become now ! My friend's band was playing for free here as a pre Austin FC party. I was the only person here not wearing green, it seemed. Had 2 beers, 1 was really good and 1 was eh. They had a Mexican food truck in the back and it was meh, I wouldn't recommend. Line inside to get a beer was ridiculous... I would have had more if it wasn't such a wait. Amazing experience in this covid world. They created a large patio out of their parking lot. Taproom not open yet due to social distancing. Picnic tables outside are spaced far apart. She stopped us before we got to an empty table to let us know she needs to sanitize it first, but she did it in such a nice way. I really appreciated that. They greet you at the front booth to order before being seated (didn't know that) and the service was amazing. We got the pale ale, but it tasted more like an IPA. I would definitely go back and try other beers though. I should've gotten a picture, but I loved that they use compostable cups. Hopsquad is a wonderful addition to the local collection of breweries in the area. The building has been transformed from a used furniture store to a nice brewery. The murals both inside and outside are beautiful and I especially love the wood around the bar area and in front. The names of their beers are fantastic! They currently have just two of their beers on tap during their soft open, plus a cider and wines. I tried the Lord Zanate (IPA). I thought I hated all IPAs, but I guess I was wrong. This one was pretty good! There is a lot of comfortable indoor (maybe even air conditioned?) seating as well as some outdoor, too. The restrooms are clean, nice and surprisingly big. Three stalls in the women's. Two especially nice features are the selection of board games and the fancy dog water bowls. There is a food truck onsite, Tsuke Honten. It is the cutest Japanese place! It reminds me of the tiny food eateries I saw in Tokyo that had a single chef and patrons would sit at a bar to eat. You can order food to go there (like Karaage, Japanese fried chicken) or you can make a reservation and get an 11 course meal. I am definitely going to try this place out soon! read more

I came here during a trip to visit my siblings, and it had a really great atmosphere. The beer was delicious and very affordable. My only complaint was one of the bartenders would rather talk with her friend instead of helping customers. Other than that it was a great spot. read more

Watch parties for soccer matches and pre-game for AustinFC are highlights but when it's slow, you get a chance to chat, sample, sip and enjoy a chill spot with great brews. We've lost a lot of great old school Austin institutions. Went here on a sunny afternoon with Kelly L. She had been, but it was my first time - although I'd been eyeing Hopsquad as it was building up and it had been on my list to visit. The parking is limited, so plan ahead. The space is bigger than it looks from the outside - as it has an indoor bar as well as an outdoor picnic table area. I tried two beers (can't remember which ones) and they were both very good. The menu had good variety, so I feel like it's a good spot to bring a group that could have diverse beer tastes. The beer is good. But tonight, it cost me over an extra $245.02. I parked in the nearby Circle Brewery parking lot. It says "No FC event parking. I DO NOT GO TO FC. I was supporting a local brewery. I had to pay $245.02 Towing fee plus $16.13 Uber. My $25 beer bill is fine. We stopped at Hopsquad Brewing for a pre-dinner beer after work one evening and are so glad we did! They share a parking lot with another brewery, but we went on a Friday around 6:00pm and there was plenty of parking available. I ordered the Pilsner and my Husband ordered the Mexican Lager - both really good beers, and my Husband claims it's one of the better Mexican Lagers he's tried! It was chilly that day so we sat inside, but they do have large outdoor seating available. The bartender actually told us they host Austin FC watch parties outside for away games - super cool! The indoor space is really chill, think your typical warehouse brewery vibes, the bathrooms were super clean and the staff was very nice. We soon learned that they also have a pizza truck on-site. We were kicking ourselves for having dinner plans already or else we would have stayed for a few more beers and ordered a pizza or two (the smell was making our mouths water!!) My friends and I were having difficulty finding a place to watch the FA Cup final on Saturday the 14th (it started at 10:45 a.m.). Rebecca looked into it, called me back promptly, and Jack opened the place early so we could come in and watch the game. What great service! Jack set up a screen for us and made sure the audio was perfect. And of course, the Dr. Montopolis was cold & tasty, and they even had wine for my girlfriend (who's not a big beer drinker). Came here on a trip to Austin. After going to a couple breweries prior to this and I was suggested to come here based on the quality of beers. As the name suggests they are very much hops forward. I am not. I came in and asked the woman about non-hop forward beers. She suggested one and I tried it. It was very hop forward. The bar, if you call it that, is very pretentious. Would not come here again if traveling through Austin. read more

I am so excited to have Hopsquad in the neighborhood. The psychedelically painted building taunted us for so long and I'm happy to say they are going to be an excellent addition to the North Austin brewery scene. Inside was so spacious and clean! I really liked the nice assortment of seating areas, so if you want to eat you can use one of the several picnic tables (indoors or outdoors) or sit in a rocker if you just want to kick it. There were dogs inside when we were there and I loved it. They've got a nice assortment of water dishes for them too. They had 4 beers on tap when we visited. I had the saison and it was good. Everyone else in my group enjoyed their beers and we all planned on returning in the future as they release more beers. The food truck here is legit. They have scored pairing up with Tsuke Honten and vice versa. Parking can be a bit confusing and tricky - the entrance to the fenced in area is right off of Braker after the Kramer light. It's quick if you aren't prepared and getting in is a bit nimbly-bimbly but the parking lot is decent sized. read more

A decent brewery very similar to all the others in the area. The problem is that it takes longer to get a beer here on Austin FC game days than any of the other places. I know there's a big crowd on game day, but how dumb not to anticipate that and bring in more staff. A brewery exists to sell beer. And you'll wait 45 minutes in line to get one here. Hopsquad just hasn't figured out how to serve beer at a reasonable speed so they are selling half as many as they could while inconveniencing everyone. read more
