Why 5 stars? Because I really love that there's a place like this. --- --- --- I was not in the military, nor do I have any family members in the military, but I am incredibly appreciative of those who serve. Having a restaurant specifically centered around honoring those in the military was truly a great idea, so kudos to whoever started it. Honor Cafe looks like what I'd imagine an American Legion would look like, though I've never actually been inside one. It's certainly not your typical restaurant from a visual standpoint. As for the food, I was very torn between several different items - both on the breakfast and lunch menu. I asked the server what the most popular items were and she basically named every single thing I'd been considering. She ultimately said that the Honor Burger was her favorite thing on the menu, which successfully sold me. Indeed, it was a very enjoyable burger. If I were solely handing out a rating based on the burger, I'd give it a solid 4-stars, but I'm rounding up for the theme of the restaurant. read more

The food is AWFUL. If you have tastebuds, go somewhere else. Coffee is the lowest quality coffee they could serve, it tastes like old cigarettes dumped in water and is $4 a cup. We paid over $90 for a flavorless breakfast. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Our server Mike was the sweetest and the food was legitimately some of the best food I've had in a long, long time. The avocado toast was so flavorful and it's worth splurging on the smoked salmon! The chicken had a fantastic breading and was meant for the habanero jelly. I am blown away! My dad lives in the Conroe area and I'm visiting him this week. I have heard him talk about Honor Cafe and the incredible food and atmosphere it provides but most importantly, the people. I met the owners, Chris and Mandi, as well as several of the staff members. The hospitality itself is worth a 5-star review. From the moment we walked in to when we left, I felt at home. We started with the chips and guacamole, moved to the salmon entree and ended with a selection of the desserts. I enjoyed absolutely everything. There are no shortcuts with this place. Delish! P.S. Parking- limited, unless they have more somewhere I couldn't see. They are very dedicated to the theme of war, veterans and support of the troops. That's cool if you're into that. I believe the venue doubles as a veterans safe place to meet. It's a HUGE building. Back to the food review: Everything was DELICIOUS! The pancakes, French toast, the XL burrito, and the Grande Taco. The pancakes came with a blueberry puree which was new for me and it complimented the pancakes very well. Service was helpful. We found this place unexpectedly after the jury duty in downtown Conroe, and it's become such a good surprise to us. It's not a fancy restaurant, they honor all the military members and veterans, but they do provide superb service and DELICIOUS food! Traveling...we located this place on Yelp. By a "Godwink" we ended up going. We left there different people. All I can say is you would have to experience it for yourself. The family and patrons of this place were the kindest people I have ever encountered. If I could give this place a hundred stars I would. All I can say is go experience it for yourself. The owner served our country and continues to do so through his veteran affairs. The memorabilia and love of country is a whole other touch this place has. It's a must visit! Did I mention the food was delicious? Gourmet style. I want to add that all the "bad reviews" are Covid related. I am very confused as to why these concerned people would actually eat there if they were not comfortable with the Honor Cafe's protocol. We all have choices in this beautiful Country we live in. They all had the choice not to eat there. Yet they all chose to. If that doesn't tell you something...take those reviews for what they are worth. This company definitely deserves a 5 star rating. Restaurant was not too crowded for a Saturday morning breakfast service but hostesses and servers seemed very preoccupied, however they were friendly. Most of the employees seem to be teens and not really trained well or great at communicating. Our group was told it would be about a 30 min wait and we decided to stick around and make the investment to give this unique place with a noble theme a try. To our pleasant surprise, 5 mins into our wait our name was called and we were seated at one of the many empty tables. We were quickly offered coffee and water. All good so far. Menu offers wide selection and I quickly chose an omelet with toast and potatoes. There was nothing special about the coffee. It was reminiscent of coffee I recalled having at many truck stop diners. Maybe unfairly, I'm guessing the coffee is made with unfiltered tap water or it's way past time to change the water filter. The omelette was very well done, not "done well", with very few ingredients and dry. The color of the omelette was not vibrant yellow like you get with farm fresh eggs. Potatoes were served in a small cup that was about half full. They were also over cooked and dried out. I took two bites and left the rest. The toast, one slice cut in two pieces was very done just right but cold. I so wanted this to be a good breakfast because I like the "Honor" theme, but I won't blow smoke, this restaurant needs to step it up. I did look at several other plates on other tables and nothing looked inspired. I'm all about a great country breakfast and this was below my lowest expectations. read more

We ordered the Breakfast Burrito, a Mushroom Burger and a special they had for the day - a HUGE pretzel with brisket and eggs. Everything was cooked to perfection and was seasoned perfectly. Hubby heard about this cafe from Michael Berry show. Decided to give it a try. Being patriotic, we absolutely loved the decor and military memorabilia. Service was prompt and friendly. Ordered breakfast, but they offer full lunch and breakfast all day. Food was good, only complaint, when it came out it was luke warm, not hot. Biscuit was cold. Eggs were perfectly done over medium (not an easy task for most cooks). Although the food wasn't served hot, the food was still tasty. Would suggest not overcooking the thick cut bacon. Honor Cafe was not so honorable during my first visit. We were quite disappointed. Saturday morning, the place should have been packed out, yet it wasn't even close. We had to wait 10-15 minutes even though 6 tables were unoccupied and there was no one else waiting be seated (completely lame). Our omelettes were good size but...had brown marks due from being over cooked(high heat and unmonitored. I know this for a fact because I've been successfully making breakfast for 50 years). They were cooked on the same griddle that the pancakes were cooked therefore every bite had a hint of pancake flavor which I did not find appealing. The meat in the omelettes was chopped so small, it would be fine for a mouse. The potatoes came in a 4 oz soup "cup" which was filled about 3/4. LOL! Really? Like the cost of potatoes will set you back financially? They didn't even fill the small cup? Again, they were cut in such small pieces, a mouse could have easily eaten them. The coffee was worse than gas station coffee and (reminded me of that old Sparklets tv commercial with the lousy coffee in the diner).The staff appeared to be high school age. The theme is commendable, but that's really all it is, just a theme. Message to the owners: Get rid of that "cook" you have and invest in an educated, experienced "chef" that knows how to properly cook breakfast, especially an omelette. Also, throw 2-3 handfuls of potatoes on the plate. Don't be so cheap. After all, your clientele consists of hungry Texans that love to eat big plates of food. General rule of thumb; if your food is good, you are generous with your portions, and priced competitively, you'll never run out of customers. I wish you well. We don't plan on returning. A good example of success is "Beach Break Cafe" Oceanside, Ca. During my years at Camp Pendleton, we used to eat there almost every weekend. So we are so disappointed in this establishment! Both my husband and father-in-law are veterans and we love the idea of honoring them and supporting other veterans. This restaurant does a disservice to veterans, they display memorabilia and wear the veteran "name-tag", while acting in a dishonorable fashion. There is no discount or "thank you" to veterans, the prices are pretty steep for what you get, the service was slow and poor, the food was passable but not great. If you eat here and decide you want a vegetable instead of fries or potato, be prepared to pay the full $8 fee for the side with no heads up, and of course regardless of the service you receive you will be charged the 18% tip if your party is over 6. Overall we felt like they have the potential of being a good restaurant but greed and poor service have taken over. Full disclosure, they did adjust the ticket regarding the $8 up-charge, when we got the owner of the restaurant involved, but it was done unapologetically with a "we will eat the cost" attitude. read more
