I ordered the "Where's Patrick"sandwich. It had lavender goat cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, micro greens and Desert Blossom Balsamic in my requested gluten free brioche bun. Creamy, fresh, striking balsamic on a toasted bun. No gluten-free compromises here! The brioche bun from Sweet Impastries Bakery was nothing like the usual cardboard impersonators. 10/10 My oat milk latte, tasted fine but even better the next day when the home made smoked cinnamon blueberry maple syrup had time to meld. Now that was a full sentence! Who is my lunch sandwich named after? Why, Patrick O'Malley, himself. He started it all. His wine making grew into a love for coffee making. As the founder of the International Barista & Coffee Academy and Infusion Coffee & Tea Crafters in Tempe, he teaches the art of coffee and judges competitions. I assume the eclectic interior is created from his tools and his photo collections. He's currently filming a coffee documentary that I'd absolutely love to see in the future!

I asked for a recommendation on what to get, kind of hoping that he'd recommend his favorite, and it was kind of more of like a "what do you like in a coffee?", I don't know how to answer that question. For it to taste good? I think that's important. He wanted me to have like tasting notes that I enjoyed. That's layers too deep for me man. Especially before I've had coffee. The lady gave me a snarky comment and said, "yeah you got Vietnamese coffee, that's what it will taste like". That's definitely not true, I've had Vietnamese coffee plenty of times and it was delicious. The gentlemen who was making the coffee was nice and said he would look into their supply. He remade my coffee for their salted caramel. It was very mild, wish the flavor had been more pronounced. But overall it wasn't a bad drink. Overall this place has become a pass for me.

I placed an order and decided to pick it up myself to see what the place looked like. It's a small place but they've squeezed in two gorgeous roasters: a small one for orders like mine and a more mongo size for the restaurant and other major orders they fill. I talked with Victor, the coffee guru there, and he spent the time to talk to me about different coffees and got me excited to try several (although I have to confess that La Minita is my absolute favorite). What got me to write this review, though, was because of their customer service. I had sent some coffee to a friend as a gift. Then when I went to place my regular order, I accidentally indicated to ship it to the friend. Now, I'm friendly, but there's a limit! I called the shop as soon as I could, but Victor told me it had already shipped. I told him, "no problem" because it was totally my mistake, but Victor insisted on immediately roasting some more to send to me at no charge. I balked, but he insisted. When I first moved here, I stopped in out of curiosity, and I still remember how genuinely kind and welcoming every employee was. As someone who was new to the area, that first impression meant a lot. Three years later, the same warm atmosphere keeps me coming back. Their hours have always worked perfectly with my schedule, giving me a comfortable place to study after work. There is plenty of seating, and best of all, lots of outlets, which has been a lifesaver for someone like me with an ancient laptop that seems to lose battery the moment I turn it on! Beyond the amazing coffee and cozy ambiance, what really sets this place apart is its commitment to the community. They regularly host events that are open to the public and even keep an event calendar posted so customers can stay informed. I've also seen them partner with organizations like Prisma HealthCare to offer free health screenings, which speaks volumes about how much they care about the people they serve. This isn't just a coffee shop. It's a place where you feel welcomed, supported, and connected. Between the wonderful employees, delicious coffee, inviting atmosphere, and genuine sense of community, it's easy to see why I've been a loyal customer for so long.
