I've tried The Alley at many other locations, but it was my first time here! I parked in the parking garage next door, "The Piedmont", at a rate of $2 for 30 minutes, $4 for 1 hour, $8 for 2 hours, $12 for 3 hours, and $16 for all day parking through the QR code provided for AMP Parking, with the sign saying "violators will be cited and/or towed". Upon entering the shop on this Friday afternoon, I was in love with the bright, modern interior style The Alley locations usually have, but this location was full of plants giving it a pop of color and nature! My friend and I opted for our usuals assam black milk tea with snow velvet and boba (me) and royal no.9 milk tea (her). I loved my drink, as it was perfectly sweet but decadent given the foam, and the boba was sweet and chewy. The store was empty except for one other customer, and our drinks came out in 5 minutes or less. We didn't stay very long on this visit, but we will definitely be back for routine, much-needed boba runs in the future!
Happy to see a location of this in the Tempe area. There's lots around and it's pretty crowded so it seems to be a good hotspot for students. Solid Boba shop and I've tried many other other locations so wanted to see how this compares. My go to is always the Ube crème brûlée brown sugar Boba drink. However, I felt like this was way too heavy and sweet compared to the other places; it's more of a dessert than anything. I wish that there was a way to adjust the sweetness without having to adjust the amount of Boba you get in the cup. I do love that you were able to customize with your milk and ice choice which is a huge thing for boba places for me. Right up at the front there's a screen with photos that you can order manually or you can also order with a cashier. They have a bunch of drinks that I would maybe try next time. One of be interested in is the banana matcha, but wasn't sure if it was ceremonial grade or not.
I come here ocasionally for drinks. The vibes are chill and we always have a good time. My go to drink is usally the purple rice yogurt smoothie but this last time I decided to give the creme brulee drink a try. The crème brulee drink was delicious and I think my new favorite. I also ordered an iced biscoff latte and this was a hard pass. It is way to strong and not what I was expecting. The cheesecake is a must try!! Its very creamy and perfectly sweet. Customer service is a hit or miss. I have encountered friendly employees and rude ones as well.
First time trying the alley boba and first of tea flavors are notably good, boba was also chewy. Service was also good, neither outstanding nor disappointing. If you're seeking solid tea options, it's worth a visit! Note: loved the parking garage save you the hassle of looking for parking around the area.
The family was craving some boba when we arrived to Scottsdale and decided to stop here as it was the closest location on the map to where we were. It's very close to ASU and a bit hard to find - it's in a newly developed complex and my map took me to the parking lot, so I had to drive around to the front where the shop is. No parking in front of the shop so hubby dropped me off and he parked across the street in the lot to wait for me. The shop is very trendy and airy. Love the deer decor of this place. Plentiful seating and lots of cute merch for sale. They have a lot of the typical boba drinks as well as some creative spins on others. I went to the kiosk to order and got the Jasmine Green Tea with Lychee Jelly, the Ube Taro Smoothie with boba, and the Brown Sugar Deerioca Creme Brulee Milk (with oat milk). I ordered all of these less sweet and it was perfect, although the green tea probably could've stayed at regular sweetness as it was quite strong. I had to pick up the ube taro smoothie, because I love ube and taro and to have them both in one drink was magical! The Deerioca Creme Brulee was so good as well! There was a pudding/creme brulee mixed into the drink and it was fun to slurp up. The only improvements I could suggest is to have fresher boba (ours were kind of hard) and to speed up their service. We were the only people they were making drinks for and we waited over 10 minutes for our drinks.
My Sea Salt Pineapple Tea was quite refreshing! It wasn't too sweet and the amount of ice was just right. If you're driving here there is free parking in the garage, entrance is left (west) of The Alley. There's free WiFi, public restrooms, and merch for purchase. Prices are little more than the place down the street, but the service and atmosphere here is much nicer. Great service, boba, and atmosphere! This place is right up my Alley!
I visited The Alley Tempe around 8:00 PM on June 23 and ordered two drinks, one of which was to-go. While changing the lid for the takeout cup, a staff member used a visibly dirty cloth to wipe the milk foam directly on top of my drink--multiple times. The cloth looked like it had been reused, possibly with residue from other customers' drinks, which felt extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable. What made it worse was that other staff members were present, and although they seemed uncomfortable watching, no one stepped in to stop or correct the behavior. The entire situation felt careless, with the staff chatting and laughing as if it was no big deal. We've always liked the drinks at this store, but this experience really shook our trust. It also made us question whether similar hygiene issues exist in the preparation of other products. We truly hope the store can improve staff training and hygiene awareness. The drinks are great, but food safety should never be overlooked.
Craving some boba? This place is right up your alley! Located near the ASU campus. Parking can be tricky during the busy school year however it was summer break so it was t as crowded. If you're entering on 6th street, there is a parking garage on the left right at the corner of the boba place. Limited spacing for residents and shopping spots. We were able to find a spot easily. The boba shop itself was cute and inviting. The staff were kind and allowed us to look at the menu before ordering. I got the matcha purple rice yogurt with green tea jelly. Wow! My first time trying out green tea jelly. It was definitely a hit. The matcha itself was tasty and tasted legit. The first sip was a lot of jelly at first but once you work at it, the purple rice and smoothie come through. I enjoyed it. All the drinks seem to be one size only. You're able to adjust the sugar and ice levels. I got a sip of my husband's sea salt pineapple tea and that was also good! I'd be back again! Thank you!
I was looking for a nice cafe where I could get some work done and found this place! The service and the drinks are excellent. I went super-simple and ordered an Assam tea with lychee jelly. But there are is a good selection of other drinks (and snacks) on the menu as well. I really appreciated that the interior was inviting to sit and enjoy my drink (and do work). I easily found a table that had an outlet for me to use. There was free wi-fi too. Parking - I parked in the lot adjacent to the cafe.
The Alley is one of the better boba places in the valley. One of their top 5 drinks is the ube brown sugar deerioca creme brûlée. The name itself is a mouthful but it's my favorite! I was hesitant of the drink being too sweet but it depends on who makes it. The boba texture consistency is fantastic - bouncy and chewy. The creme brûlée is reminiscent of egg pudding which is creamy and soft. I love the ube flavor too! My fiancé ordered the matcha purple rice yogurt drink. I liked the matcha and little jellies, but I wasn't a fan of how tart the yogurt tasted. The purple rice was very unique but I don't prefer it. This place is bright and clean. They even have custom tumblers which are really cute. The Alley also offers snacks like popcorn chicken, fries, and pastries. I have yet to try but it looks pretty good. I'll be back for the ube brown sugar creme brûlée drink! Highly recommend that one.
The Alley has been in AZ for several months now but I can't tell you how excited I was when I learned they were coming to AZ. Easily one of my favorite boba chains ever! One of the things I like about The Alley, which they also pride themselves on, is consistency of the drink. I know thr drink I get will taste the same every time I go. I am a big milk tea fan and would prefer their assam tea over their Royal No. 9. They Royal is different and unique but not my cup of tea. What I am a big fan is their jasmine green milk tea. The tricky thing about jasmine milk tea is the right balance of tea flavor, milk and sweetness and I think The Alley has mastered it. I haven't had another one that compares. Lastly, the boba is always on point...the perfect texture. I cannot rave enough about The Alley and specifically this location!

Huge fan of the purple rice yogurt drink here. Super unique drink and it is well balanced with a really good tea jelly. The decor here is really nice, super clean, always smells good, and the staff are nice, especially Mark. Great place to study or relax as there are a lot of cozy seating options. read more
A pretty good boba spot and I was pleasantly surprised. Its right near ASU campus and a few restaurants in this area I'd like to come back and try. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, but I did find a spot on the street. You can order at kiosk or at the counter. I tried asking the ladies working here how sweet is the matcha banana creme drink and neither could tell me how sweet but they did offer me to try it and if I didn't like it, they could make something else, that's nice of them. I had a Royal 9 milk tea, light on sugar with boba, iced. Everything tasted good and boba was made correctly with springy chewy consistency. The inside seating is also nice, fun place to come have boba. I'll be back! read more
I love coming to this place for boba, they have a bright lobby with lots of greenery, and the people working are always really nice. Today I decided to try a croffle! A croffle is a waffle x croissant hybrid, and at The Alley you can add crème brûlée or chocolate to it. I choose crème brûlée. It was very sweet, but very delicious! I would definitely order one of these again! read more

I am from Taiwan and I can say I know a thing or two about authentic boba. This is the best boba I have had in a long time. I am so glad I found this place. The boba is fresh (not reheated from packages -yuck!) which makes the perfection combo for a sweet treat! In the picture (left to right) are brown sugar creme brulee, matcha, and Uber from their top 10 best sellers. They also have small bites you can snack. We tried the calamari rings and chicken popcorn. Highly recommend! read more

The Alley is one of the best boba chains out there and I am incredibly jealous that ASU students in Tempe get to enjoy this right down the street. I had them in Vegas and they definitely satisfied the boba itch. Their menu offers a large variety of drinks including popular ones using ube or purple rice. You're also able to build your own drink such as a milk latte depending on what flavors you like, and the servers were able to make great recommendations on how to build and modify existing drinks. I went with an Assam Milk Tea Latte with Oat Milk with Boba, keeping it fairly simple. I also always order drinks with half ice and sugar levels. My drink was fantastic - not too sugary and I was able to taste the actual tea. I appreciate them having non-dairy milk options too for vegans and other plant-forward individuals. Note that a lot of their syrups (including their ube) aren't vegan friendly, and they were happy to check and recommend other drink combinations for me. We ended up staying here for a few hours since the vibe was pretty relaxed. Seeing many people doing their own work or just hanging out with friends is a good sign, and a testament of the vibe they go for at this spot. read more

Second time here! Got the matcha brown sugar boba and peach smoothie. They have pretty good quality matcha and it wasn't too sweet which I loved. And my husband loved his drink as well, said the grass jelly added great texture and taste. Their Halloween decor inside is so cute! Super cute vibe :) the staff was very patient and quick with our order as well! read more
My friends and I have tried The Alley in other states and countries previously, so we were really excited to find out a location had opened in the Valley. We came in a little bit after lunch on a Thursday and they were not busy. We ordered a passionfruit green tea and two lychee green teas. The taste of the teas was good, not too sweet. However, one thing we noticed about our drinks was that the amount of toppings that were in them seemed less in comparison to what we were used to. We weren't really sure if it was because of the particular drinks we got (since we usually stuck to milk teas at other locations). Also, in one of our teas, there was a lot of syrup pooling down at the bottom. Not that big of a deal, nothing a little stirring couldn't fix. On the plus side, the service was friendly and fast since they weren't busy at the time. Really enjoyed that this location is quite spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. There's a lot of natural light filtering in from the windows which works quite nicely with the aesthetically pleasing environment. read more

Came in here on a Friday evening. Small amount of parking in the garage, but there's a parking lot across the street I think you can park at. Walking in this place is really clean and pleasant. Got some much playing not too loud - plenty of seating options ranging from bigger parties to bar seating to just a small chair section. Has room for any group. The cashier recommended the Lychee Yogurt Smoothie and I said why not. Let me tell you this drink was so good I almost wanted to ask who made this drink and how because it was so good. Very strong lychee flavor and had lychee at the bottom with a creamy yogurt taste like yakult in it. Tasted like a lychee danimals and great icy texture. Gf got the Sea Salt Pineapple tea which was good as well. Very strong clean tea flavor that was amazing. Wasn't the biggest fan of the assortment of jellies and seeds in this one but it added flavor and texture. I just wasn't a fan. It was her birthday and they actually let you get a free drink on your birthday with valid ID. But overall 2 drinks would have been about $14. Also the bathroom was super clean and this whole establishment I would have thought opened up last week the way it was so clean. I would come back purely for the lychee yogurt smoothie but it seems like there's much more to try that will be great. Highly recommend. read more

* no parking on the side streets surrounding the Alley but you can park in the free parking lot of the piedmont apartment complex. The Alley is located in the ground floor. You'll see the opening for the parking lot to the right of the Alley if you are driving east on 6th street. Via their Instagram acct, it says you can park anywhere on the ground level and 1st floor that has a "no parking" sign on it for a max of 1 hour. A lot of the available spots were full so I just parked in the first spots on the right that say, "future residents" and I was fine since I wasn't planning to stay long. Great place for ASU students and anyone walking but not the best situation for drivers.... When you walk in, it's nice and aesthetically pleasing. Open with enough seating inside and some outside. But I hated the scented diffusers they were using up in there. Like a strong cologne that made me gag but I know that's personal pref. Lols I was greeted warmly when I was ready to order. I got the ube brown sugar creme brûlée and creme brûlée croffle. I asked if I could adjust the sugar level of the ube brown sugar brûlée bc those tend to be super sweet. They said no. It is sweet so I would pass on that if you don't like sweet or you're watching your sugar. But I was fine with it, it was good and you could taste the taro. I didn't get to try the croffle bc my girls inhaled it but they said it was yummy! read more
Their slogan is, "It's time for tea." Let me give you the tea on their tea! This place makes some pretty amazing drinks. I have had the Boba Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brûlée, Ube Boba Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brûlée, and the Royal No.9 Milk Tea so far and all the drinks have been bangers (although their ube drink was super light on ube). I need to try the Strawberry Lulu Slush next along with a few other drinks. So for you Sun Devils, y'all are blessed for having this great place. Back in my day, the ASU boba place was the now defunct, "E-ba." If The Alley was around back in the day, it would have made parking in Lot 59 a whole lot better! 4-stars because while good, I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here. Had I lived in the area and/or was a Sun Devil, I could see this being my place for sure! Their drinks also lean heavily on the sweeter side and I'm not sure if you can ask for adjustments but if you can, I suggest doing so unless you like liquid-diabetes. read more

Stopped by The Alley during Grand Opening. The drinks are super tasty. Recommend getting any of the Ube ones. Parking nearby is a bit of a struggle. There is some garage parking but the spots were taken so we had to drive around for a bit. When ordering be sure check your order and keep an eye on it. When we placed our order we thought we ordered Ube but we got just brown sugar. So the drink needed to be remade. Also some of the drinks you cannot adjust the sweetness level of. Which is totally fine. Just something to be aware of if you tend to get less. Despite a few hiccups it is def worth a stopping into the new boba tea spot. The brown sugar is soft and the drinks are great. If I was going to ASU right now, I would be here all the time tho! read more

I love The Alley! I found out about it recently and have been back three times since. My go-to drink is their Thai tea, it's flavorful and creamy, and not too sweet, and their brown sugar boba is so delicious. The service is also very quick, there's a self service kiosk that you can order from inside, though I've also ordered in advance from their site. The inside of the cafe is aesthetically pleasing and cozy with lots of seating, so it makes for a great hangout spot to enjoy your tasty tea. This may be my new favorite boba shop in Tempe, I'll be back again soon! read more

Wow I think I have found another go to boba shop! I came with friends on Friday and it was a madhouse up in here. The line was pretty long and we were right by the door when we arrived. Although long, the line moved pretty quickly. They had menus on the screens and also some right by the door so we had enough time to figure out what we were going to order. The cashier was very friendly and patient. We ordered one ube taro brown sugar, one purple rice yogurt smoothie, and one strawberry green tea. We wanted to try out the Royal milk tea but unfortunately, they were sold out. Each drink was about $9. After paying, we stood to the side of the pickup counter as it was very hectic and every single table was taken. Our drinks were all made at different times. My sister who ordered the ube drink came out first. Mine (the yogurt smoothie) came out about 10 minutes after hers and my friends drink (strawberry green tea) came out about 25 minutes later. The workers were all working hard and it looked quite overwhelming from all the orders they had to make. Although stressed, they were very nice and had smiles on their faces. The seating area is cute and the music was great. Overall we had a good time and we alllll enjoyed our drinks. I totally recommend the smoothie as its not too sweet. The ube drink was a little on the sweeter side and the tea was refreshing. Be patient as they are pretty busy! read more

The workers were super friendly. I mentioned how the menu wasn't available online and they said they are working on it, and are trying to get online ordering available as well. The music is not too loud, and the area was a little bit busy bc of the ASU game. It's super cute and clean. Bestie and I got the lychee green tea. It comes with lychee bits and crystal boba. I got mine with 50% sweetness. So good. The tea tastes delicious and wasn't too sweet. I'm a huge boba fan so anytime boba is involved, yes please. Count me in. You can choose the sweetness and ice amount. I love choices. We also got the creme brûlée croffle. For those who don't know, it's a croissant pressed into a waffle maker. It was so good. They put brûléed pastry cream on top. I'm glad it wasn't bigger and I shared it bc I could have eaten like 5. It's that good. Make sure to get this if you need a sweet treat to pick you up. Yassss. I was also one to sign up early so I got a gift bag. That's always fun. Thanks! read more

Yay, another new place to get boba! This shop is located on E 6th Street on the ground floor of the Piedmont, and you park in the garage for the apartment complex (it can be a bit confusing at first, as the spots inside the garage are each marked with a sign that says "no parking," but they are supposed to be for shop patrons). The inside is clean, modern, and aesthetically pleasing, and there's plenty of drink choices on the menu. The person taking my order was nice and it was cute that they had a little "spin to win" wheel on the counter as a part of their opening promotion. The shop in general also seems like a nice place to study or do some work on your computer, as there's plenty of seating available. I picked the jasmine milk tea with boba, and I liked how I could adjust the ice and sugar levels! It came out quite promptly, and I liked my drink. It was a bit on the sweeter side even at 25% sugar, but the milk tea was tasty and the boba was appropriately chewy and sweet. Would come back here to try more of their drinks! read more

Heard about this new boba place from a friend. I've tried the Royal No. 9 milk tea, the assam milk tea, and the matcha purple rice yogurt. The main difference between these 2 milk tea drinks is that the Royal No. 9 has a blueberry flavor - so unique! I usually get 25% sweetness for my milk teas, but even at 25%, they still felt too sweet. The assam milk tea at 0% sweetness was a little too bland for my preference. The matcha purple rice yogurt wasn't really what I expected. It was still good, but not a go to drink for me. There's some parking on the east side in the loading area, as well as a few spots in the garage. Customer service is great and it's never been so busy that I've had to wait a long time or had difficulty finding seating. read more

I go here at least twice a week. The service is quick. There are study tables, but it usually gets packed in the evening - close time. My recommendations would be purple rice yogurt if you like smoothie texture, ube creme brulee if you like sweet, and sea salt grape oolong tea. read more
The Alley is one of my favorite boba chains in the world! This location is no different than any other locations. Their drinks are always reliable. I usually get the Assam milk tea with slight sugar and ice, which was perfect every time. The ambiance is aesthetically pleasing and sets it apart from most other boba shops in the valley. read more

Drinks and service were good! Parking can be confusing but you can park on the first floor of the building even if you aren't a resident. I got the jasmine milk tea with pudding - strong tea flavor which was great but the pudding was more grainy than silky. Would return! read more
