He warned us what type of repair we would need down the road because he knows what cars will need what type of repair. While he assured us that we did not need the repair at the time, he turned out to be right eventually. When we bought a new (to us) car, I brought it in for him to inspect and he was able to advise me on whether I needed an extended warranty or not (I didn't because it was a Honda with fewer than 20k miles). There is no high pressure sales tactics here.

Later that evening, they called with a repair estimate of $2,156 to replace the radiator fan, thermostat, and tires, plus $309 just to refill the antifreeze. When I called to ask about alternatives, they only reduced the price by $20. That felt excessive, so I decided to get a second opinion. I ended up going to NC Complete Auto Care, where the radiator fan was replaced for $881. They didn't charge for refilling the antifreeze and said the thermostat wasn't an issue and did not need to be replaced. They also let me know I could safely wait on the tires for a couple more months. I appreciated the transparency and will be taking my business there from now on. I can't recommend Cary Car Care based on my experience.

No appointment is necessary - you can just drive up and the attendant will ask for your registration, and then will take your car into the garage for an inspection. I've been to other places that take 30-60 minutes, even with an appointment (most of which is waiting). I've always been finished in less than 15 minutes here (if I have to wait behind someone else) - but usually less than 10 minutes. The $30 fee is standard for an NC inspection, but I'm glad to report that I haven't been upcharged for a simple fix like replacing a light. I've come here twice during COVID - the attendants wore masks and sanitized their hands between cars. They didn't wear gloves, but I wiped down my steering wheel, etc. afterwards anyways. It's also all outdoors - the indoor seating area is closed off due to COVID. Thankfully, I found some shade to stand in while waiting, and since it only took less than 10 minutes, it was not a big inconvenience at all. Since I found this place out a few years ago, I've been coming here exclusively for my car inspections and have been very happy with their service.
