Modern Automotive in Cary, NC is the best repair facility of the many that we have used. First, they are honest and trustworthy. That relieves an incredible amount of anxiety on our part. They don't make a repair which is unnecessary. They don't try to scare you into agreeing to have expensive, unneeded repairs figuring that the anxiety of not having them done would encourage you to OK them. They don't continually try to up sell you on unneeded services as many dealership service departments do. They even verified that new tires that our tire dealer said that we needed were not needed now because the current tires were fine wrt tread wear and other features. More anxiety relief. They also do top-quality repairs. We have taken our two vehicles there for the past three years, one of which is almost 30 years old. Some repairs appeared to us that they may be undoable but they have solved every problem. They only use manufacturer replacement parts which may cost a little more or delay a repair but are likely to last much longer than using cheap generic parts but then charging the manufacture prices. Their labor charges are entirely reasonable. The manager, Will, is incredibly knowledgeable and capable of running a three-ring circus if needed. Because of their outstanding service, it is typical to have to wait a couple of weeks for an appointment. read more

So the battery died on our minivan in the lot outside our daughter's music school. Teacher tried to jump the battery with hers and the engine still wouldn't turn over, so we all thought we'd have to get a new battery. Called the nearest and best reviewed auto shop to see if they had one, and he said they'd first come take a look. Two gentlemen show up, give the minivan a jump with a portable jumper cable device, and it starts after less than a minute. Just saved us from a long wait for AAA or buying a new battery from Autozone. Wouldn't even take any money from me. So grateful. read more

These are the best guys around and HONEST too!We've been bringing our families cars to them for a few years now and are very satisfied with the service we recieve and the quality work performed. They have shown me the worn parts theyve replaced and Ive been introduced to the mechanic that did the work. Most recently I called and asked the cost of having my timing belt replaced thinking I was over due. They looked up their records and saw they replaced it only 2 yrs ago. Sure enough, I checked my reciepts in the car and they did the job. I was quite glad I called them and not the dealership who would've been happy to do the job and needlessly take my money. With the new "no inspection sticker" to go with your license renewal thing going on, it's so easy to forget you gotta get it done... until you get pulled and get ticket... then it's a mad rush before the court date! AND I couldn't just pull into jiffy lube to get an inspection because my engine light would not go off...and that always means the catalytic converter and thousands of man hours to repair it. I took my car to Gary before the inspection expired, he's in the KMart garage in Cary. I asked them to fix my car because the engine light was on. Several hundred dollars lighter, they cleaned my carburetor, put in new spark plugs and wires and sent me on my way. I drove a day and the light came back on!!! I took it back and they reset my engine light and said to drive it 50 miles and then come in for the inspection. I am not sure what they were trying to do, since I could not get the inspection with the light on? They said they had the right codes, but they didn't match the generic codes that I had for free from Autozone!!! So needless to say, I couldn't afford to get it fixed again. So a few months later, and two tickets later, I had a $99 diagnostic at Phil's Toy Store, my friends who own a Lexus were raving about this place. Granted he has good service and those little Kuerigs in the waiting room, but his estimate was on the high end over $650 to repair the evap canister... so an attorney friend (who has been postponing my court date)recommended Modern Service. I got the same repair done for a little under $420! A brand new charcoal canister to keep me from polluting Wake County and an hour of labor. I'll buy my own coffee thank you very much! I actually did walk down to the pharmacy/soda shop in downtown Cary. It's only a block away, and decided to enjoy a great yummy chocolate malt, instead of coffee. And I killed a little time shopping for a birthday card (not much of a selection...no Hoops and Yoyo cards, lol), but reading the cards is prime entertainment! By the time I walked back and read more of my trashy romance novel, my car was finished! Viola! Less money spent. A good day! And a quick and less painless repair!
