My car broke down and was towed to Cary Car Care after being recommended by GEICO. I was initially told the diagnostic fee would be $130, but ended up being charged $176. Later that evening, they called with a repair estimate of $2,156 to replace the radiator fan, thermostat, and tires, plus $309 just to refill the antifreeze. When I called to ask about alternatives, they only reduced the price by $20. That felt excessive, so I decided to get a second opinion. I ended up going to NC Complete Auto Care, where the radiator fan was replaced for $881. They didn't charge for refilling the antifreeze and said the thermostat wasn't an issue and did not need to be replaced. They also let me know I could safely wait on the tires for a couple more months. I appreciated the transparency and will be taking my business there from now on. I can't recommend Cary Car Care based on my experience. read more

Terrible service! I accidentally made my appointment for Wednesday 10/30/24 instead of Wednesday 10/23/24 but brought my car in Tuesday afternoon 10/22/24 and got checked in. No call or text Wednesday 10/23/24 so I called at the end of the day and was told they hadn't started working on the car yet but I was in the queue for the work to be done in the morning. I called today Thursday 10/24/24 and they still hadn't touched the car! And that's when the mechanic told me the appt. was for the 30th. I realize it was my mistake on the scheduling but why didn't the check in lady tell me I had the day wrong? And why didn't someone notice yesterday when the car was sitting there all day? And why did they say the car was in queue to be worked on in the morning? I'm on my way out of town for a family emergency and this messed me up so badly. I've been calling all over to see if I could get a rush job on the work. Really terrible service and I will never go back here or recommend them. Update: I appreciate the businesses response but there was another aspect of this situation that bothered me. When I realize the date mistake I asked the guy who answered the phone if they could squeeze me in. He said: if someone who has an appointment doesn't show up or cancels we can get you in. But I can't make any guarantees. I kind of expected that he'd try to see if he could accommodate me but he just said sorry...can't do anything. My car needs an oil change every 10K miles. However, I was 2-3k past that so I figured I needed to go ahead and get that taken care of. Even with everything going on with covid-19, Cary Car Care customer service was top notch. They let me know that they would sanitize my car and my keys before they started working on it and after they finished. They also mentioned that the inside waiting room was closed but bottledog next door has an outside patio you can sit on and wait for your car if you need to. Note: Take some wipes to wipe those chairs. The pollen has them yellow. The payment was also taken over the phone. And it was nice to see that once they finished my car and parked it in front of the door, I saw him getting out and wiping things down. Cary Car Care stood out. For nearly a year I've been a customer and haven't been disappointed. If my car needs any upcoming major work the service writers always have an estimate ready for me as I walk out the door. Their estimates have always been reasonable but do give me the opportunity to check around for second opinions. Understand, I absolutely detest having to deal with car issues, routine or not. Since I can't afford to sell/buy a car before every scheduled oil change I have no choice but to deal with the aggravation. That's why Cary Car Care has been a relief. Great customer service and top notch work. I called Cary Car Care to get a quote for my brake pads and possible rotors. I called about 4 different places and many were trying to tell me that I'd have to get my rotors and brakes done at the same time though my vehicle only had 40k miles. Cary Car Care was different. They told me to bring my car in to inspect the brakes and then we would assess what we would need to do from there. They didn't jump the gun, they didn't try to take advantage of my lack of car knowledge and they genuinely seemed to care about me and my car concerns. They did not try to push anything unnecessary on me but rather took the time to explain what was going on with my car, what exactly needed to be done and what would probably need to be done in the next 6 months. I just felt like the folks at Cary Car Care were genuine, sincere and trustworthy. Not often can you say that about an auto repair shop. They were great and nice! They checked my car because it had been making noises and vibrating excessively. They replaced the motor mount and did my other maintenance in the same day! They also have a very user friendly online portal where you can see the to-do list for your car being completed with notes. You can also message them and ask questions. Cary Car Care has the nicest employees. Everyone is courteous and they don't invent problems. Scheduling appointments is a breeze and they typically have the car ready when they say they will. The waiting area is a bit limited with a single old CRT TV (I wish they would upgrade this but it's not a huge deal). As far as the repairs, all of the work that I have had done has met my expectations. Tires are affordably priced and with the special incentives they provide they are able to compete with online retailers like Tire Rack. I have brought my car to Cary Car Care for tire installation, alignment, drive belt replacement, oil leak repair, and state inspection. I checked with a friend before some of the repairs to make sure I was not being deceived and I found that their assessments were reliable. I feel very comfortable leaving my vehicle overnight. We came in because the windshield wipers would not turn off. We dropped car off at 7:10 am. First est. $180.00, about 9:00am, 2nd est. $480 +150 diagnostic, I approve, not too much later came the 3rd est. the really nice gal says it's $1,008.00 it's now about 2:30pm. I get a call at 5:35pm the car is ready, half way to the shop I get another call, it's not working. Bach home, the call comes at 5:50 it's ready. We get there by 6:00, the only person to talk to was the nice lady that takes your money. I asked what happened and all I got was a part was left in there and removed. I asked that someone call me to explain $1008 charge, ( this is a wind shield wiper assembly) and the mistake they made on1st attempt. On the way home the check engine light comes on. Looking at our manual a cause of the engine light could be caused if a non GM parts used in repairs. I was going to discuss that when they call me. I'm waiting. I'll keep you folks posted. Cary is an expensive place so yes, you may find cheaper repairs elsewhere but they understand if you are having to consider cost . There is no guilt trip . I just read the reviews of another Cary Car repair shop and two customers mention feeling mistreated there because they were not driving a pristine high end vehicle . We drive our vehicles to death and the CCC folks treat us well. Are they perfect ? No, but if there is an issue they try to make things right . I generally don't write positive reviews, but Cary Car Care deserves one. I came in today to get an oil change, and I can see why they have so many good reviews. Before coming here, I stopped by another well-reviewed place in downtown Cary but they apparently require an appointment and aren't interested in walk-ins at all. So I tried Cary Car Care and I'm glad I did. The lady at the front desk is genuinely nice and very good at her job. They were able to do the oil change, and they did that well (I know it's just an oil change, but after reading a bunch of reviews it seems like this town has plenty of incompetent mechanics who are liable to screw that up). She asked if I wanted a tire rotation, which I declined even though I generally get one when I get an oil change, as you should. She wasn't pushy at all, just seemed like she actually cares about cars being properly maintained. I appreciated the waiting room... it wasn't anything fancy and only has three chairs, but it's set up tastefully and thoughtfully. The chairs are all along one wall at a 45 degree angle and each has a small table forward of the armrest, and the TV is viewable from each one. There was a nature program on the TV, with very low volume. Not a depressing news channel or typically awful daytime TV. There were magazines but they were tucked away and not cluttering up the place; I didn't see what they were. Overall it was quite clean and inviting. Leaning on the opposite wall were several portable camp chairs, and a sign saying you're welcome to take those outside. If anyone needs a recommendation, go here before any corporate chain. read more

My husband and father-in-law have been taking their vehicles here for years and have had wonderful experiences; so, I decided to start using them myself by purchasing tires at the end of last year. Week before last, I took my CR-V in for an oil change and tire rotation. I received a text saying it had been completed, and there was a link to more specific data. That link provided recommendations for changing the brake fluid and power steering fluid. It also described seepage of same. I brought the vehicle home. The next morning, a small pond had appeared in the garage. Assuming that their definition of small seepage was different than mine, I made an appointment for fixing the brake fluid and power steering leaks. Tuesday, I dropped off the CR-V and walked to nearby stores. Around 11am, I received a call saying that they had found my oil leak. It was a hairline fracture in the oil pan (connected to the plug) and would cost roughly $1200 and 5 hours to fix. Naturally, I was flabbergasted because there was no leak prior to the oil change. I was told that they would follow up with the technicians who had done the oil change, as well as the ones working on it that day to get more info. In the mean time, I said to go ahead and do the repair because it should not be driven in that state. The next available date was the following Tuesday. I was more than a little peeved to have to call my husband away from work to drive 40 miles to pick me up. I received a call later in the day stating that the work could be done the next day (Wednesday). I said to go for it, and again explained that there were no issues prior and asked for clarification on the seepage that had been mentioned previously. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the brake fluid or power steering fluid; those recommendations had been made based on the color of the liquids and the mileage of the vehicle. I have had 5 vehicles in my lifetime and have driven over 680,000 miles. Not once have I had an issue with cracking an oil pan. Is it possible that a rock or other object from the road popped up and cracked it? Absolutely. What are the odds of that happening on the exact same day that I got an oil change? What are the odds that a technician overtightened the plug and cracked it? I am not a mathematician, but I dare say the latter is most likely. I was told in the second conversation that, "unfortunately, there is no way to know," exactly what happened. Thus, I received a $1244.33 oil change. Never again! **UPDATE** After a few phone calls and discussions, Cary Car Care refunded half of the cost of the oil pan replacement. Thus, I have changed from 1 star to 3. read more

It's by appointment only, so be sure you plan out time to take it (though they'll let you drop it off the night before). I had an oil leak and my oil got to a dangerously low level. Not knowing how to check the amount I had, the owner took me back into the service bay (which was extremely clean BTW) and showed me how to check the dip stick and add oil if necessary. He called a week later to check up on how my car was running and asked for an update on the oil level. Not only are they nice, but they follow up with their work! These guys are awesome! read more

When I had a water leak in my RAV4 a couple years ago, they worked with us over several visits to trouble shoot the problem; oftentimes not charging us for their time through the multitude of visits. Called about having a thermostat replaced on a 1993 vehicle. Because the parts are so difficult to find for this car, I purchased the part that needed to be replaced in advance of asking for service. I was told that they do not use customer parts and only install parts that they order and install. I explained that the parts for this car can take weeks to get due to the age of the vehicle, which is why I already had many of the parts that would need to be replaced over time. I was told that the shop "makes its money from selling the parts" and they cannot install customer provided parts. This is the first shop I have ever heard of with this policy. read more
