In all my life I've never cared or taken the time to leave a bad review for any business, until…read morenow. My experience here made it completely necessary. I brought my 2003 Ford Escape in simply because the ABS light was on. They charged me an absurd $246.68 just for a diagnostic fee to pull codes C1145/C1234, and then quoted $613 total to replace a single front wheel speed sensor (a standard 30min to an hour max with an older rustier job with a cheap part). When I asked if they could apply the diagnostic fee toward the repair, the advisor dismissively told me that rolling diagnostic fees into repairs is a "myth." (that claim is entirely false, as many reputable shops routinely credit diagnostic fees toward authorized repairs). When I pointed out how over-inflated the pricing was, and that I'd save more money having to pay a diagnostic fee at another shop and do the service there, he simply responded "okay" and showed zero willingness to work with me. This is a textbook example of predatory charging and exploitation of customers. I paid the ridiculous diagnostic fee just to get my vehicle out of there, and I will never return. Take your money elsewhere and go to a shop where they respect their customers.

It's been on my mind to write another review from an unscheduled stop right after Christmas. My daughter hit something with her car and broke an aftermarket rim. She's in college a few hours from home and needed to get back after her break. I had a new wheel ordered and paid for overnight delivery but could not find anywhere to install it. Every where was closed. I stopped by here and happened to run into an amazing gentleman that saved my entire day. The shop was closed but he was working on his personal vehicle for a trip to go see his daughter in college from what I remember. He opened the shop to remove the old rim and tire and mount the brand new setup for us. I have thought about this quite a bit and I'm always so thankful every time I go by and think about that day. An extremely kind gesture that saved so many things going wrong that day. I had a wonderful conversation with him as well. They could not see my car that day, but scheduled me in at 11am on Wednesday. CLAS did not get to my car to see the problem until Thursday. I patiently waited for days since the Jennifer (the office rep) stated they had 1-2 mechanics working. I understood and due to the heat I figured it would take awhile. Thursday I spoke with James and he stated that I needed a new thermostat and a coolant flush. Long story short, I got my car back Friday 6/28 and within an hour my car red coolant temperature light, windshield wiper light and engine light was on. It was like I was back to square one! My car started to steam and stall. I called CLAS and called Jennifer who stated that they will be there Saturday 6/29 between 8am-12pm. They did not show up at all. There was a sign on the door that they will be on vacation starting 7/1. I called numerous times. I could not leave a voicemail due to it not being activated( I wonder why). I drove my car a little without the air and it overheated within minutes. I waited til everything cooled down and checked my fluid levels. Ya'all! There was no antifreeze or windshield wiper fluid. Per Jennifer she stated that the owner looked at my car‍The way this experience has been going he probably did not put in a new thermostat either. Now they on vacay with the money I paid them and I have to wait til they come back on July 8th to discuss the matter. -Nena Smiley

He seemed unfazed at the problem and on the spot helped me out. Said " I could probably fix this in about 10 minutes". Total cost ~$80. A big difference than all day at Toyota for hundreds of dollars more. Another reason to spend you money on small local businesses. Thanks guys!

My car broke down and was towed to Cary Car Care after being recommended by GEICO. I was initially…read moretold the diagnostic fee would be $130, but ended up being charged $176. Later that evening, they called with a repair estimate of $2,156 to replace the radiator fan, thermostat, and tires, plus $309 just to refill the antifreeze. When I called to ask about alternatives, they only reduced the price by $20. That felt excessive, so I decided to get a second opinion. I ended up going to NC Complete Auto Care, where the radiator fan was replaced for $881. They didn't charge for refilling the antifreeze and said the thermostat wasn't an issue and did not need to be replaced. They also let me know I could safely wait on the tires for a couple more months. I appreciated the transparency and will be taking my business there from now on. I can't recommend Cary Car Care based on my experience.
