The service was OK. I was told I need a battery but No one explained what the new battery would cost. I had to ask what brand they sold and the price of the battery. I also didn't like the fact that they emailed my receipt with no option offered for a printed one. I like printed receipts so I can keep them in my records. I have been going to chapel hill tire (first the fordham blvd location, now here since moving to raleigh) for a decade or so and I can not recommend them more! Theres a newish woman named Tequilla and she is AWESOME. She is so welcoming (along with everyone else) and her personality is out of this world. They may be a little more expensive than other places but you get what you pay for. Amazing service and thorough checks. Currently sitting in here waiting for a new tire 3 weeks after getting a whole new set from a nail in 3 out of 4 tires ( which tequilla helped me find the last time) because of a NEW NAIL. read more

I have to say they did a great job with my 2022 Tesla model 3. Since 4 wheel alignment the car dives superbly. I had alignment done by Tesla at 25k and since then steering wheel was offset to the left slightly and car was pulling slightly right. Right rear tire was wearing on inside faster then all other tires. Now at 37k I purchased new OE tires and was hesitant on bringing car back to Tesla for another alignment so I found Chapil Hill Tire and glad I did because car drives perfectly straight and with new tires it's amazingly quiet. Feels like new again! And by the way saved about $100 not going to Tesla SC. read more

Took a van in for service. Received a quote for over $10K. They wanted to do a transmision flush, which ruins the transmision, as part of the laundry list of CRAP they wanted to do. I think the dealership would be cheaper. Never again. read more

I found Chapel Hill Tire on Yelp after searching for a shop where I could get a wheel alignment. I messaged the store here and they were very quick to respond with a reasonable price estimate. I happened to find a Groupon here on Yelp that helped reduce the cost of my alignment even further. When I arrive to the store, I was greeted by very friendly staff members and checked in immediately. It wasn't too long before my car was taken back. I sat down to do some work, and they were gracious to allow me the space and access to extension cords to plug in my laptop and charge my phone. I was in the shop for not much more than an hour. They showed me the diagnostics on my vehicle, and how off my alignment was (which was no surprise given the issues I've had). My car drives much better now, with the total cost of my bill being much less than other nearby shops. My dealership quoted me $20 more for the same service. Yes, the Groupon helps, but I have no doubt that the store would offer discounts and specials routinely. They didn't try to offer me services I didn't need, or upsell me on anything. I was in and out in less than 2 hours even though I didn't have an appointment (I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon). I would highly recommend this location for this service, and would consider them for my other vehicle service needs as well. read more

Chapel Hill Tire has worked on my vehicle twice and I have nothing but great things to say about them. The first time I sent my son up there with a coupon for service and he had no issues. The second time I called them on a very short notice needing an oil change. Not only did they see me quickly but they got my oil change done in a short time frame and soon enough for me to make it to work. I love how they sent me a print out of the work that was done that included information on what needed to be done on my car highlighting the critical elements. These guys seem to have entirely positive reviews from my research, which was a big plus. I came here because I had a coupon for a $20 oil change. Service was fast and friendly. Employees were conversational and the waiting area was comfortable. Their Honda-experienced guy, Craig, came and spoke with me and was very informative and not trying to push service on me at all. He sat down and explained the good and the bad with my car and just told me the priority in which I should deal with the issues since I think he gathered that money was tight. Mixed review. The service to come get my car and return it is very convenient. I have no complaints about the work that's done. However, the prices are on the high side compared to online estimates of the same repairs. Also, they post a price for services, but the price charged is higher and the excuse given is it's hard to keep up with the online prices which conveniently don't include "shop fees" etc. Example, posted 49.95 for an oil change and there's a $10 off promotion. Should have been $40. But I was charged $51 including the promotion, with the excuses listed above. Another time I had it in for a simple service but they did a tire diagnostic I didn't request and charged me for it. When I complained they removed the charge, but that's not kosher. One more, I had a 1 week old brand new battery in my car, they diagnosed it as bad and needing replacement. I have a battery tester and it tests fine. So be cautious of extra charges and upselling. read more

Wish I could give them 10 stars! These guys are professional, personable and got me in so fast. I requested a quote and had one in my inbox 20 minutes later, and then had an appointment for the next day less than 12 hours beforehand. They have a very clean office with super nice staff. They even offer a shuttle service to get you to work if you need! They also have a charging station which is super convenient if you have to wait and need to charge your devices. although they seemed friendly and attentive - they quickly turned defensive and insulting when something went wrong. when my tires wouldn't align...i was specifically told to fix a bent strut - "fix the strut and it will fix the toe-in problem" several hundred dollars later - i went back for the alignment. now, it must other problems causing my tires to not align...just how much more will your staff's guesses cost me? I was upset to spend for non-urgent repairs - and staff asked me for my receipt!! Hey, guys I don't lie about that sort of thing... I also recommend that you don't brow beat your customers in the waiting room about "standing behind your guy" . Especially when he is WRONG. I came here this week for a car inspection. This is my first year having to get my car inspected here in North Carolina. I asked a few co-workers where they go and this place was recommended. Of course, I checked the Yelp reviews which were good and this place was close by. I called to make my appointment about a week before. They seemed to have an open schedule. I was introduced to this location when I had to have tires installed. They quickly removed my old tires and installed the new ones. Had a great conversation with the manager who takes time to talk with you about more than just what your car needs. Since I had such a great experience, when my son's Tahoe AC went out on a Friday night I called them Saturday morning and not only did they fit me in they stayed a little longer to make sure my son had his truck to return to camp in the afternoon. I thought the price was fair but service was outstanding. I have found my new shop for all our service of our cars. UPDATE they must have new management. Took wife's car in for squealing sound in brakes. Got estimate for $800. To replace a $10 clip. Not going back. Glad I took tire off and looked myself. Perhaps I'm a little jaded but I'm always surprised and a little relieved when I take a car in to get something checked and the team tells me I don't need work done. I went to CH Tire to get an oil change and two new tires for my wife's car and noticed the engine check light was on too. They did a great job of checking the car in, taking me where I needed to go, and texting me updates about progress. They also texted me to tell me that engine light didn't need any extra work done... just a reset! And they put a new battery in the key remote that wasn't working. I had a blown tire that was under warranty through a national company. This required the shop to swallow the cost of a replacement tire until the company paid them later -- not something other shops were thrilled about doing. However Bryan at Atlantic Tire not only agreed to accept the warranty, but then went above and beyond, making several calls on my behalf to the warranty agency and happily helping me get the new tire reseated. While pulling the car into the bay, they noticed a brake problem that I had been concerned about but had not mentioned, and they were very genuine in their concern to have it repaired for my safety. Lee went beyond the call of duty and inspected the brakes at the wheel and the hydraulics after asking my permission. He determined there to be a VERY dangerous brake fluid/master cylinder situation, which he fixed for an incredibly reasonable price, as he was more concerned for the safety of the vehicle than making an extra dollar. Both Lee and Bryan were a fantastic help, friendly, and genuine. I will be taking my car there from now on. read more

I came to this shop because of the great reviews, but unfortunately my experience wasn't that great. The guys were really nice, but the work was subpar. I received an oil change, and I needed them to look into an overheating issue on my Jeep. After about 3 hrs, they told me I had a crack in my thermostat and it would cost about $250 to have it repaired. They also told me about a bunch of other stuff I needed done and if I could leave my Jeep they would do it all for $1100 or so. I laughed and refused the repair and told them to just change the oil. After paying over $100 to have the oil change and problem diagnosed, I drove away. These guys had not reset the oil indicator light, they had left my tires very low on air (after I was told specifically they would fill them up), and they had topped off my coolant with the wrong kind. I ended up getting the work done at a different shop and had to have my system flushed with the correct coolant. Needless to say I wasn't very happy, and there's no way I would let them touch my Jeep again. read more

Make sure you don't go here. Atlantic Avenue Tire will quote you one price and charge you another. When they make a mistake, you are left to spend your time and money fixing their problems. Last year, these geniuses typed in the wrong VIN number on my inspection so I couldn't register the car until I drove back out there, had it inspected, then went back and waited at the DMV AGAIN. This year, they quoted me 2 prices for sets of 4 tires - they only installed 2 tires on my car and when I complained, they claimed they had only quoted me a price for 2 tires when their emails CLEARLY said otherwise. They don't honor their quoted prices so you may want to stand behind the mechanic and observe all work because you can't trust these guys. oh, also, I was a customer here for 10 years prior to these two ridiculous experiences. When I had a complaint, they were unfriendly and not interested in owning their own mistakes that I had documentation showing. read more

This is a great place to get your car serviced. Once my car had some problem (can't even remember what it was), and the shop couldn't get the part till the next day. They were so concerned about my safety, that someone drive me home in his own car, in the middle of the day. On another occasion, one of their (former) employees had made a stupid error. They owned the problem without any argument. They usually get an Honorable Mention in the Indy's Best of the Triangle contest. I've been a customer at this shop for a few years now and I can't say enough good things about it! I am a transplant to the Raleigh area so when I needed a reliable and honest mechanic, I asked a friend and he recommended these guys. My first visit was for tires and since that first visit, every bit of maintenance on my vehicles (right down to regular oil changes) is done here. They are always friendly, helpful, and honest. They've suggested repairs when needed and when my last vehicle needed more than I was able to budget in one visit, they were up front and honest about what items to prioritize and what could be put off a little longer. As a woman, it's sometimes easy to feel intimidated at a mechanic shop but this crew is not like that at all. Everyone is very helpful and I have never felt like I was being taken advantage of because I'm a woman or because I don't know as much about cars as some other people might. I'm always very happy with the service here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking (and have sent my own friends here as well!). read more
