Later that evening, they called with a repair estimate of $2,156 to replace the radiator fan, thermostat, and tires, plus $309 just to refill the antifreeze. When I called to ask about alternatives, they only reduced the price by $20. That felt excessive, so I decided to get a second opinion. I ended up going to NC Complete Auto Care, where the radiator fan was replaced for $881. They didn't charge for refilling the antifreeze and said the thermostat wasn't an issue and did not need to be replaced. They also let me know I could safely wait on the tires for a couple more months. I appreciated the transparency and will be taking my business there from now on. I can't recommend Cary Car Care based on my experience.

No call or text Wednesday 10/23/24 so I called at the end of the day and was told they hadn't started working on the car yet but I was in the queue for the work to be done in the morning. I called today Thursday 10/24/24 and they still hadn't touched the car! And that's when the mechanic told me the appt. was for the 30th. I realize it was my mistake on the scheduling but why didn't the check in lady tell me I had the day wrong? And why didn't someone notice yesterday when the car was sitting there all day? And why did they say the car was in queue to be worked on in the morning? I'm on my way out of town for a family emergency and this messed me up so badly. I've been calling all over to see if I could get a rush job on the work. Really terrible service and I will never go back here or recommend them. Update: I appreciate the businesses response but there was another aspect of this situation that bothered me. When I realize the date mistake I asked the guy who answered the phone if they could squeeze me in. He said: if someone who has an appointment doesn't show up or cancels we can get you in. But I can't make any guarantees. I kind of expected that he'd try to see if he could accommodate me but he just said sorry...can't do anything. And I would feel differently if he had at least shown some empathy.

In fact, Happy Japs was mentioned to me by a carpooling coworker's hubby, and after trying to get a reasonable quote from several local Japanese car specialists for installing a sport suspension kit and upgraded brake pads, I went to Happy Japs for some related work. When he and his mechanic saw the kit, as well as the other parts I was installing, he told me he could not only do it, do it economically, but "we WANT to do this for you." See, performance stuff is right up their alley, which I hadn't expected. I was struck by his candor, and we did the whole shebang that morning. The owner, Rex Deffenbaugh, is a long-time racer and regional organizer for the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The office is not fancy, but it is filled with years and years of racing photos, trophies, knick knacks. These guys take their car enthusiasm seriously. Don't expect a tidy, sterile operation, there are other Japanese car specialist around who can offer you a fashionable waiting room and complimentary espresso -- this is a working shop, and the atmosphere is IMHO a throwback to the old days when mechanics' shops were about the cars, not about impressing the clients and hiding the grease stains. Now, since taking my Euro Accord to Rex, I've joined the SCCA and been to a race at his invitation. I take my car on the track, where it stretches its legs (and pulleys, and cams, and brake horsepower) and makes me proud. I've been to the local chapter meetings, and met a fine group of folks associated with the amateur racing world. So there's the bias ... I have known Rex a few months, consider him a trusted acquaintance verging on friend, so OF COURSE I wouldn't anything but a great Yelp. But if you have a classic Datsun/Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda, or maybe a newer one, Happy Japs is a small locally-owned garage you could entrust it to.

Mr. Craig Johnson will work until he is assured he has made the right diagnosis and you will be 100% satisfied. Was having trouble with 2017 Sienna. No new transmission was required. Thank goodness there are still honest people around who are not selling a job just because of the $$$ they will make. Honesty, integrity and reliability are all part of Johnson's transmission. You may need to wait for the finished product but it is worth the wait.

I stopped on the exit to check the oil levels and hopefully add a little oil in order to get back on the road, but the engine was making a loud ticking noise. There was smoke coming from the engine bay and oil sprayed all the way up the back window of the car. That's when I decided that it was best to leave it there and have it towed to the nearest automotive shop. Thankfully, JT&AS was no more than 7 miles away from where I was stranded. Not only was I in the right place at the right time, but JT&AS is a shop that I'll begin going to regardless of the other shops that are closer to my home in Raleigh. The service was impeccable. Honest, timely and thorough are only a few ways to describe JT&AS. If you're ever in the area, or better yet, just make the drive to go to JT&AS because you won't be disappointed. This issue had already been documented by an official Alfa Romeo dealer, and I provided the full history of the problem and previous repairs. I also explained clearly that the fault is intermittent, which is common with wiring or electrical issues. Euromotion charged about $200 for diagnostics, but their conclusion was simply that they "could not reproduce the issue." At one point the technician even suggested the problem might be caused by running the A/C or heat, which doesn't make sense given that the fault code specifically relates to the ignition coil control circuit. They then suggested another ~$700 to keep looking. When I declined and asked for something very basic--a written summary of what diagnostic work had actually been performed--the technician refused and said he would not write one because he was "having a bad day." Paying for diagnostics and leaving without any documentation of what was actually tested is unacceptable. STAY AWAY from Euromotion for any serious work on an Alfa Romeo or other European cars.

I don't know the exact reason, but after doing some personal tests, I suspected a vacuum leak because I heard hissing from the engine bay. I took it to Euromotion because of the great reviews and recommendations I had seen. I knew there would likely be other issues with the car besides the idle since it's used and I hadn't had it inspected yet, so I wasn't surprised by the other items they quoted me for. They did complete the work quickly, I'll admit that, but they told me the issue was a broken gas cap and charged me $128 for one that costs about $7 on eBay. This morning, on my way to work, the car was still idling and running the same way. Keep in mind, they also charged me $198 just for the diagnostic. To make matters worse, I found oil on my leather interior seats. In total, they charged me over $300 for an issue that wasn't fixed and left my interior in worse condition than when I brought it in. I would not recommend this place at all--save your money and your time

Over the years, they've gotten to know my family and our vehicles well. They've always been clear about what needs fixing now versus what can wait -- something I really appreciate in a shop. No pressure, just honest advice. Most recently, I brought in our 2014 Mazda CX-5 for a North Carolina safety inspection so I could get it registered. While there, I mentioned a pretty annoying AC condensation issue that was flooding the passenger-side footwell. I'd already tracked down one clogged hose thanks to YouTube, but the other one was buried near the firewall and out of reach. They cleared both hoses quickly and affordably -- problem solved. A few months earlier, they also helped with my son's car, doing an inspection and tune-up following his motorcycle accident back in December. Their kindness and professionalism during that time meant a lot to our family. The Frantz family is truly amazing, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, no-nonsense auto shop in the area. Can't say enough good things.

Don, Lisa, Darrell, and the rest of the staff are all top-notch, as is the shop's work.
