No pressure, just honest advice. Most recently, I brought in our 2014 Mazda CX-5 for a North Carolina safety inspection so I could get it registered. While there, I mentioned a pretty annoying AC condensation issue that was flooding the passenger-side footwell. I'd already tracked down one clogged hose thanks to YouTube, but the other one was buried near the firewall and out of reach. They cleared both hoses quickly and affordably -- problem solved. A few months earlier, they also helped with my son's car, doing an inspection and tune-up following his motorcycle accident back in December. Their kindness and professionalism during that time meant a lot to our family. I've been a customer of Franz automotive for a number of years...probably over 10, actually. They've worked on a wide variety of vehicles for me, including a 2006 Toyota 4Runner, a 2006 Mercedes SLK350, a 2020 RAM 1500, and a 1956 Chevrolet 210. Everything from oil changes to manifold/carburetor replacement to brake work to fuel-injection work. Always quality work, always reasonable prices, always nice people, and always done in a timely manner. I don't have much good to say about a lot of service industries these days, but Frantz Automotive never disappoints. I have been a customer of Frantz for more than four years now. I always prefer an independent mechanic vs. taking my car to the dealership. Better prices, more intelligent analysis, and higher quality work. I would like to give them my highest possible rating. The team will explain, in layperson's language, what is going on with your vehicle and will advise the next best steps to take. In a number of cases, they have recommended NOT taking any action, as the cost vs. the benefit (excluding safety) didn't make sense to them. I appreciate the fact they consider the budgets of their customers. We have had one glitch in all this time and among our cars - there was a pinhole leak on the tubing for the AC and all of the recharging material vanished into thin air over a several month period. They took responsibility for the issue - I would not call it an error - and were able to replace the defective segment of tubing quickly and cost effectively - we now have nice cold Chevrolet a/c! The vehicles they have serviced for us include a Boxter, an Edge, a Saab, a Suburban (vintage now), a Jetta, a C-Class and a GLA-Class. A wide variety and I am delighted with the service. Almost got me for 10K, always get a 2nd opinion Had my water pump fail on my truck, had it towed in to have it looked at. Was called back and told it wasn't the water pump but I would need a whole new engine. He told me he would get back to me with the price but last time he did it, it was about 10k. I get the call back with the price which was quoted about 10K, I told them that I wasn't really interested in spending 10k on the truck for a new engine. I asked if they could just replace the water pump and we could go from there. He said no the only option was to replace the whole engine. I then had the truck towed to another place for a 2nd option, they replace the water pump for less than $800 and they truck runs fine just like new. I wait to write the review until I put 1,000 miles on it. So far no issues, so glad I got a 2nd opinion. Over 1 year after getting my 2nd option and just having the water pump replaced, instead of a brand new engine. truck is still running great with no issues, So glad I did not fall for the scam at this place. read more

I have never written a review in my life on Yelp and frankly not trying to be one of those folks that hurts a business. However my experience with Frantz is one that I thought I would share. We have used these folks for several of our cars, so when my AC went out last week and needed an oil change on the business car I called up and they said just drop it off. I was traveling so no big deal. Came back today and picked it up as I need it for this weekend. No worries the oil change was done but the AC needed a part and I just said I would call next week and we can get it completed. 2K but has to be done and happy to give them the business. I drove it home and it started to make a noise and the check engine light came back on. I went back to the store and the nice lady at the counter asked what was up. I answered "I have to admit I am a bit annoyed". So a younger fella came outside and hooked up the check engine light indicator, and it came up with something. Nothing was ever brought up to me but he immediately got defensive and started "I can show you all these reports that it had it etc. We are not doing this, we took you in as a walk in etc." Maybe a long day? Who knows, but I reminded him that I dropped it off for a week. He didn't realize that, but that's fine. So the experience was not a good one, have another 2K to spend but we will just go elsewhere which they don't care about. Anyway we have had 4 cars into this facility and we will just go elsewhere. With their location, it won't matter about this review, but it wasn't a good experience for us. read more

I contacted them after getting an unusually high quote from Atlantic Tire for $1500 worth of work to be done on an old car my son drives. They took the time to give me a thorough quote over the phone, and indicated that they would make sure that everything that was quoted actually needed to be done. To their word, they did only the work that needed to be done(not everything that Atlantic said), did it well and it has been several months without any problems. It took a little longer to get the work done since they are a smaller garage, but an extra day in the garage saved us $900! Honesty is always the best policy and I have new mechanic! read more

I am not sure why Frantz doesn't have five star reviews in the triple digits. This is one of the best auto shops I have ever been to (including dealerships). I love the fact that is seems to be a very honest family business, adding the fact that they are a very nice family doesn't hurt either! You don't get the normal sales talk that you get when you go to a normal auto shop, which is, I think, their best selling point. I used to go to other places to get my semi annual oil change and they would come back with a laundry list of things "wrong" with my car. With Frantz, they only tell you to get stuff fixed when it's necessary. I don't know if this is normal either, but they always rotate and realign my tires for free when I take it in. Just recently, I knew that my tires were getting to the point where they need to be replaced soon, so when I took it for my oil change, I wasn't surprised when they told me to change them then they quoted me what their tires would cost and left it at that. They didn't try to schedule for a tire appoint with them or pressure me into getting their tires-they simply explained all the costs that would come with it. After researching around all the major places to buy tires in the area, I still found them to be the cheapest. The main guy at the front desk even applied an online coupon to my services without me asking. My boyfriend had to get his brakes fixed the following week. They initially did something with his brakes and charged him for it when he got his oil changed two weeks ago, so when he went in this time, they just left that charge off, when really, we wouldn't have known the difference! They applied a bunch of discounts to his service as well and ended up shaving off at least $100. My only major tip would be to get there early because the parking lot gets full and packed very quickly. If you go in at 8:30am, there are usually only one or two spots open, if that! But that is nothing major at all! To simplify, this is a very very honest and honorable business that doesn't try to take your money, but instead relies on their hard work and service to bring you back. Ok, this is my first ever yelp review - hope it's helpful! :) My car needed some minor service today (top off Freon), and I decided to try Frantz since they are just down the street. The waiting room lobby is small but very clean and nicely decorated - one of the couches looks like the back seat of a vintage car! There was wifi access so I could get some work done while I waited. I was with my son, and they let him play with one of the toy race cars. I felt like I was treated fairly and not overcharged. The service was very friendly and personal (That always means a lot to me.) Although I hope my car won't need any other repairs anytime soon, if it does, I do plan on going back here again. read more

I have had Don and his crew do work on different cars and trucks over the years. For the simple jobs to the complex, I have always felt I had been treated fairly. Estimates for work needed are always clearly explained and are on the money. I have always been pleased with the service I have received. My Mazda CX-5 was out of warranty and I wanted to find a local automotive service center to service my car. I took my car in when the check engine light came on and they immediately figured out the problem. After replacing the part, my car would intermittently not start and I took it back to determine the problem. They spent time to diagnose the problem and kept my car to make sure that it wouldn't happen again. They explained the issue and did not charge me for the follow up care. I would highly recommend them and they were familiar with all of the customers! read more

Had a used car checked out. They were quick , explained everything, gave me quotes to get a few things resolved, and honored my requests exactly. Great bunch of guys working here. They're always very friendly, very quick and efficient, and very honest about the work they're doing. Plus they charge a quarter of what my car dealership does for the same basic services. My only complaint: watch the curb! I have been coming here for years and I'm repeatedly impressed by the service and professionalism. My latest service inspired me to post this. While having other work done on my car they spotted what they thought was leaky shocks. They gave me an estimate which I was fine with. When I brought it back in they discovered it was something right above the shocks leaking. They could have replaced my shocks for $700 and I would have been none the wiser. I had an appointment scheduled for an oil change Wednesday morning. My dad is in hospice in Pittsburgh and I need to see him before he passes. The hospice nurse called abd told me I should get there tomorrow (Tuesday). I called Frantz, told them the situation and pleading to fit me in first thing Tuesday. I mean would other customers really object? They told me they couldn't fit me in until Tuesday afternoon! My dad is on borrowed time! I have been a loyal customer for years.
