We just moved to the area from out of state (literally the day before) when my Toyota Highlander starting gushing oil, we had no idea who to bring It to. So after a bit of research we chose CarFix. Glad we did! We had to get the car towed as we knew it did not have any oil in it..we thought, great, this is going to cost a fortune so they towed it in looked at the car and gave us a call with what was wrong and the cost to fix. Very reasonable based on the research I did..they told us that it would be ready on Monday (they towed it on Friday) we asked that since it was there could they please give the a/c a charge, no problem. They called Friday evening and told me I need new rear brakes which we knew about so we decided to get that done too. Everyone there was so nice and very friendly I felt as though they were honest but most of all my car runs great! We will use these guys for all our future car needs. I brought my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD in for service and was ultimately very disappointed with the overall experience. My wife dropped the truck off at 8:00 AM while I was at work, yet I still found myself waiting past closing time to pick it up. The final bill exceeded what I would have expected to pay at a Chevrolet dealership for the same maintenance. While I understand quality work comes at a price, the value simply was not there for the amount charged. What left the strongest impression was sitting in the waiting area listening to the manager/owner conduct business calls that did not reflect the level of professionalism I expect from a company handling expensive vehicles. What killed it for me was the estimate. First, it was WAY more expensive than I thought. But I could have dealt with that had they just broken down the bill for me: parts, labor, recycling fees, taxes. You know, the same way every other shop does it. Easily the worst experience getting an oil change. Please read some of these reviews before you decide to come here. I'd rather you put avocado oil in your car than to go there. I dropped my vehicle off at 9:00 and picked it up at 1:05. It wasn't that busy. They apologized for dropping the ball on notifying me the vehicle was ready. My car has 26k miles and they had a couple suggestions they could help with .. lol. Do not come here. The upcharge kings. Stop changing the radio station in peoples vehicles without changing it back. I brought my car here two months ago to get a wheel alignment. They did the job so fast that when I got my car back I noticed the vehicle was still pulling to the right. When I went back to let them know that it was still pulling to the right they said this was normal and it would take a few days. I went to another shop they rotated all of my tires and fixed the problem and let me know they never did what they claimed to and they charged me over $150 to do nothing. I dropped my daughters car off, because of a brake warning light on the dashboard. I assumed this might need a part called a master cylinder. After a 10 minute spiel about their great mechanics and warranties etc, the service manager Tim, finally got to the price for the repair. Over $3,600.00 to repair brakes on a car that is not even worth $3,500.00. They said it needed everything, that was in the entire braking system. Four new rotors, four new brake calipers, brake pads for all four wheels, all new brake lines, a new master cylinder and a brake fluid flush. They also have a rating system, and my daughters car was rated in red, to intimidate and scare you into thinking the car is not even drivable, even though this light had been on for months. That being beside the point, I called three different places to get estimates for what was allegedly needed for my daughters car, and no one else came even close to what the cost was from Car Fix. Most places where under $1000.00 for everything, Car fix said the car needed. I ended up getting it fix at a place called PAYLESS AUTO REPAIR, now in Angier, (used to be in Garner), and all the car needed was brake pads all around. It cost me $132.00 for the parts, and $200.00 for the installation of the parts. I'm all for companies making money, as I run a small business myself, but these folks are crooks pure and simple, and something must be done to put these companies and other companies like these companies out of business. They straight up lied about the condition of the brakes, and in their summary, some of the things they said, didn't even make any sense. I.E. The brakes sound like they are metal on metal, but after driving for a bit the metal to metal sound went away. As if this was the case, the sound would actually get better LOL. I want an an example made out of this company and other like it, as consumers are just that, they are consumers, not so called professional ASE technicians. They don't own their own auto repair shop, and most of us don't know how to work on our own vehicles and rely on others for the proper guidance. I started out my career as an auto mechanic, and I still work on my own vehicles and I know my way around a vehicle. I will not stand for this injustice and I DO NOT LET OTHERS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ME! The gentleman who answered was gracious, patient, and so friendly that I immediately felt like I'd called the right place. I am the queen of oversharing, so naturally, I gave him the entire history of my car: suspected issues, a three-year-old accident, and a tragic story about a bad repair shop up north. All this, while my son yelled in the background about taking his dirt bike out in the "snow." Did the gentleman interrupt me? Nope. He reassured me that my experience with Car Fix would be different. Then he sent me a video about the shop and casually mentioned they had a board in the lobby with photos of the employees and their families. Bonus? Coffee, water, workspaces, and seats in the waiting area. I was already sold. When I arrived, the young woman at the front desk greeted me warmly. She was polite, friendly, and professional--basically the customer service trifecta. She made the check-in process so smooth that I didn't even have time to start stressing about repair costs. And then there was Zander. Oh, Zander. If this guy isn't a manager, then someone's sleeping on the job, because Zander is management material. From the moment we started talking, it was clear this guy knows cars, knows people, and knows how to lead a team. As someone with 20 years of management experience (and a finely tuned ability to spot great leaders), I couldn't help but notice how Zander coached his team. He was teaching them how to approach customers, explaining things clearly, and setting an example in every interaction. He wasn't just working--he was raising the bar. When my car was evaluated, Zander didn't just explain the issues--he took me on a tour of them. Measuring tools? Check. Flashlight? Check. Clear explanations? Double-check. He walked me through the wear on my brake pads (the back ones were still fine, and he said I didn't need to replace them yet), showed me the oil residue from the leak, and even lowered the car so I could see exactly why the gasket needed replacing. They offered me a ride home (which I declined because their lobby was so comfortable), but the fact that they kept looking for ways to make things easier for me says a lot. Look, I know it's tacky to say this in a review, but someone needs to give Zander a raise--or a promotion. Or both. And while we're at it, the whole team deserves a pay bump. This isn't just about Zander's exceptional customer service skills (though, wow). It's about the culture and structure of the whole organization. The training, the leadership, and the care they put into their work are clear in every interaction. Car Fix in Garner has officially earned my loyalty. I would not recommend going here for any reason. Can't even go in to get a simple price quote without being lied to and conned by some jerk working at the front. You do NOT need to inspect and look at someone's car in order to price quote them for a simple maintenance task. Guy couldn't even give me a straight answer why he couldn't just kept LYING. All you need is the make and model so you know what part is needed and you add the required labor fees. It's really that simple. Literally kept arguing with me about it for 5 minutes. They do this so that they can try to tell you that you need way more than what's required/what you came in for after they "inspect" it. I can't say enough good things about CarFix. I went in for an oil, change (which is free for RN's and doctors.) pretty decent thing to do. They're always booked solid so call for a reservation or do it online. When they called me for an update ( I know, right?!) they told me my left front blinker light was out. They replaced the bulb for a nominal fee. And, oh btw, if they are slammed they will give you a loaner car for no cost. I can see why they're so busy. I asked how much a wheel alignment would be, due to the fact I took it initially to Precision Tune in Garner; they botched it TWICE. There is a nice waiting area and kids playroom if you have to wait. And kudos to Anthony and manager, Jimmy. Thanks y' all. read more

My wife took her 2021 Kona in for an oil change on Wednesday, 12 of June at 10am because she had a coupon. She waited for her oil change, and when she checked out an older gentleman rang it up at regular price. My wife informed him that she had a coupon that she handed over when she arrived. He told her it was not in the system. He eventually corrected the mistake and then all of a sudden told her that her battery was next to dead and needed replacing at $700 for the replacement because it was a special battery. My wife promptly told him no, and then told me about it. I took the car to have the battery tested elsewhere and, lo and behold, the battery is perfectly fine. I'm not sure if the owner of this place knows that some of their staff are trying to scam people they think know nothing about cars with unnecessary, ridiculously priced repairs. It could just be a lone wolf bad employee, or a widespread problem with this company. I'm not sticking around to find out. I'm done with them read more

After wanting to charge my wife over $600 to replace a $52 coolant tank held on with 2 accessible bolts on the front frame (and took less than 30 minutes to replace, refill the coolant and burp the system)... I thought that was a one off mess up. My daughter just had her 2013 Kia in for an engine drivability issue... I did the 100,000 mile maintenance and put in NGK Iridium plugs (100K wear), new pads, new rotors. new belts, new filters, etc. She hit 140,000 and the car was stuttering and had no power. We had it towed to Carfix to diagnose. They charged almost $1200 to flush fluids, perform an alignment and an oil change she knew she needed, replaced the NGK spark plugs (they had obvious signs of overheating on the ceramic portion... the electrodes looked decent for 40K miles of wear). And within 3 hours of driving it away, the CEL sets again and it turns out the entire issue was a $40 part held on with one easily accessible screw (MAP sensor was bad). $40 for the OEM part and 10 minutes to swap it out. My trust in their abilities is near non-existent at this point. They're also saying her control arm bushings are cracked (They are)... and it will be $1600 to fix them... I know there is labor involved, but $1,600? A GM dealership replaced both of my front wheel bearings out of warranty on my Impala that has gone airborne more times than I like to admit for half of that and they charge more per hour than Carfix. read more

Another shop told me they would do for under $600, but would have had to wait longer (I wish I did)...only "win" is a 5 year and 50,000 mile warranty on work. CLASSIC CARS? DON'T TAKE HERE! After spkg with Mike's wife at TMBC VBS, he never called me back. My complaints to mgt&advisors via verbal, text&email fell on deaf ears. When he used to b Gnr locn, it was a great place! The test drivers, ruined my car! &drove it 80miles each time, premium fuel! Over 6mo, I spent $4k & left w/+ problems than I came in with. I have 2 spcl nds kids & haven't driven her hard in 15yrs. I kept my orig owner Ac '02 RSX-S under the hood in good shape, & get 29mi/gal. Told them to ck & update any hoses/belts, etc. Got an oil change &suspension part. Next day, car steaming&heat didn't work, needed a radiator (new probs). They offered financing...Got an oil change, said I had a leak (new prob) $500 later, broken motor mounts (new prob). I asked for parts saved, they were not. As part of an apology, it sat up there for 1.5mo waiting on a door lock that never came. After pick up, nvr called 2lmk it came in. 2017 Mazda6 overheating issue. Had a cracked fuel pump belt. They said it was a fuel pump and replaced it and the belt. They topped off fluids. We paid 500. Got the car back. One month later, overheating again. Took it back and was told it was a heater core and thermostat, 2400$ to fix. Parts were not put back on and left in the seats when we went to pick it up and paid 130 for diagnostics. Got a second opinion. No signs of leakage from heater core. Its a blown head gasket. If we had the recommend work done then wed have wasted the 2400 on unneccessary work and had a blown motor. Great customer service but overpriced and unreliable. Always get a 2nd opinion! read more

Jimmy was super professional and welcoming whenever I walked in, and he even got me scheduled for everything I needed done the very next day! I greatly appreciated the detailed report with photos, and I will without a doubt be back! They even have a drop off box so you can leave your keys and drop your car off the day before or morning of. I wasn't off work in time to pick up my car, so they locked my keys in my car so I could pick it up later when I had time with my spare key. The first time I took my van to this place I thought I had found a great mechanic. The place itself is great, free WiFi, free juice, great place to contain your kids. It's all very well kept. They changed my oil, took me right out into the garage and showed me a couple little problems to just be thinking about, they probably wouldn't need repair for another year or two, and told me that over all my van was in great shape! They didn't push anything on me and the guy talking to me was extremely friendly. So of course 3000 miles later I took my van back for another oil change at this great place. The guy I spoke with that day was not very nice, he acted more like I was wasting his time. And my car that was in great shape 3000 miles ago suddenly had a whole list of problems that were going to cost me about $2000. I paid for my oil change and left. I, like many of us, am a transplant from the dreaded North. I have been lucky enough to find everything I need down here: a good local bar, grocery store, beer store, barber, etc., but the one thing that is always frightening is finding a good mechanic that won't screw you any chance he gets. I am lucky enough to have found that with Carfix. The guy, and gals, working the front desk are very nice and helpful. The waiting area is very clean and comfortable if you have to wait on an oil change, and they even have an old dog who lives behind the counter. But the most important thing is that they are very interested in what is best for you. On two separate occasions I have brought my vehicle in for something other than a oil change/tire change, and both times the mechanics were very helpful in explaining the problem and helping me make the best, and cheapest choice. Bottom line, go to Carfix. An honest and helpful mechanic is the white dwarf of the galaxy. read more

I have been going to Carfix for several years now and will not be going back. Second red flag in the past 18 months. First was a laundry list of repairs totaling over $1200, took SUV to dealership and they agreed on one repair and the others were not necessary. Second on a "supposed" leak in my radiator overflow tank ($400 repair) on a different vehicle just a couple weeks ago. Got 2 other opinions and no signs of a leak. This repair needs a $50 part and one bolt to screw off which would take about 10 minutes max. Sorry guys. Your customer service has been great but I think that overshadows your honesty. read more

Made a reservation on line for a simple oil change. Arrived as the clerk that answered the eMail stated Which was early on Tuesday due to the reservation time overlapped with lunch. (maybe block this time off the reservations available if time stops during lunch). Anyway arrived early to find out that the reservation is not on the calendar at all. I read the confirmation email from the same person that told me the reservation was not on the calendar. He says I can still get you in but I have to wait longer due to his screw up. Here lies the first service failure, then I give a full synthetic oil change coupon for 39.95, then it is oh that does not apply here due to the car being an Audi. I stated in the reservation that the car is an Audi, but was not advised that the cost goes up over the coupon. Please be aware and think twice about doing business with this shop. I take responsibility for agreeing to my repairs but like a lot of folks I needed my car back on the road. Nevertheless nobody would expect a radiator replacement with hoses and thermostat would be north of 900.00 on a 2003 Toyota Tacoma with 301,000 miles. I was told the work on my truck would not start to the next day (a tactic by the way) so by the time a get to calling around after work my truck was finished. Quotes I received from four other shops range from 430 to 620 no where near 902.00 I paid. When I brought the disparity to the owner's attention and asked him to come down on his charges he said you either pay or I keep the truck. Potentional customers please do you homework and think long and hard about doing business with this company.. Whatever you do get multiple shops to provide quotes before you agree to let this car shop make any repairs. read more
