I can not write enough great things about Universal Tires! Where do I start?…read more I came in around 11 to get a price on 2 tires. Mr. Ray, the owner, greeted me by asking my name. (He did not forget it through this whole process.) After getting my tire size, we realized they were not in stock. He advised me they will be in about 3pm today. Since I am visiting the area, I took this as an opportunity to go shopping. While I was out, my car broke down(ish). It started to sputter, shutter, and stall out. I've been traveling, its an old car with high milage so this action did not catch too much off guard. Anyhow, I made my way back to Mr. Ray in hopes he could not only put my tires on my car but help me figure out why I am stalling out and not going over 30mph. I came to a slow roll into his shop. "PUTT PUTT PUTT" and my little Mazda Tribute cuts off. Mr. Ray did not hesitate to try and help even though he said this was out of his specialty. He pushed the gas petal to the floor & a huge cloud of black smoke came out of the back. In conclusion, he put on the tires I needed, checked my oil/topped it off (at no cost), did an all around inspection before I left. What made it ABOVE AND BEYOND service (besides the top off on oil) was the fact he called a muffle shop (as he suspects I had a cat. converter issue) to get some quotes on help. Not only did he call for quotes, he had one of his mechanics FOLLOW me to the shop to insure I got there safely since my car was stalling out. (Follow me to the review on Bob's Mufflers. They are just as awesome!) This shop goes ABOVE AND BEYOND the call of duty. While shopping for tires, this is the place to go. By the way, 2 tires, after balance and rotation only cost $240. That is for Goodyear new tires. ;) (At Walmart, my tires were $87 each at lowest cost, not including putting them on. That goes to show you how great his price is. )

I appreciated the provision of a nice loaner car, with no hassle getting it. I booked my appointment the day before and drove in early next morning, cautiously, with an engine overheat warning "pull over in safe place" flashing on my dash. They knew this. I arrived opening time 8am. No one contacted me the entire day(!) with a diagnosis/ cost estimate or update of any kind; I was not aware my car would be kept overnight. At 4:50pm, ten minutes before close, I telephoned and was told $2,400(!), it might take 3 days/ 2 nights in the shop. I asked for a detailed estimate and for the second time, gave my email. Still, an estimate was not sent.... That cost estimate was high compared to other mechanics. Standard customer service for an early morning "drop-off" (advance appt.): contact customer by 3pm that day, explain repair, provide a cost estimate for approval. Start work right away, priority to finish if a second day. That did not happen. Nobody seemed to care if it did. For a $200 repair, no big deal- but for $2,000/ 3 days in the shop, IT MATTERS. PRO A loaner car while being repaired repaired with OEM car parts skilled diagnosis of Toyota 24month/ 24,000 mile parts warranty CON left me hanging on diagnosis, repair cost no written description/estimate provided high price compared to competition (corrected at the end) no apology for dropping the ball on service In the end, the actual charge was $1,821.97 which was in line with local estimates, considering the use of OEM parts. I appreciated that adjustment. And it appears they did quality work. Time will tell. Will I go back? Probably not. Lacked valuing me as a high-dollar customer; too much time and drama.

An hour after dropping off the car, a guy named Tim called and said it'd be $304. I said that was a bit excessive, as it was HUNDREDS of dollars more than we were quoted. He told me to watch a youtube video and do it myself in the most passive aggressive and rude tone and then hung up the phone on me. 5 stars for Dallas, who has exceptional customer service skills. As for the other guy, I wish I could give zero stars. Learn how to treat people.

He said yes. I live about a hour and half from this automotive shop. I drove the car to his automotive shop. At first what Mr. Moe thought was the problem wasn't. After he did a diagnostic and found out it was the fuse panel box, he ordered from a car dealership. The wrong year of the car was sent. My car is a 2005. In the mean while I had order the part online. At first Mr. Moe said he couldn't use it, but after the one he had ordered from the dealership, they sent was the wrong one he went ahead and use the one I had ordered. He told me that it will take about 11 hours because there was a lot of wires he had to connect. In between the snow, bad weather, getting the part and etc., it took several months. I didn't mine because I wanted my car fixed. From the time I picked my car up in early March/ April 2025 my car has been starting. Mr. Moe fixed the problem like he said he would. He is a great man. He and his partner was always polite to me over the phone when I called about my car. Whenever I called, to inquire what was doing to my car, he would tell me. I would highly recommend J & J Automotive if you have a foreign car. Indeed, the car was attractive, very competitively priced, and clean. The shop had an excellent of making her look lovely. They performed an alignment, put on new tires, and replaced an indicator light. I thought Amir, the salesman, was polite and did a good job answering my questions on Messenger. It promised to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. There's no tenderness like before in your fingertips... After I arrived at the dealership the love began to slip away. Amir was simply too busy for me. Over the course of 2 hours, I only got about 20 minutes of his time, and half of that was signing paperwork. I was left to do the research, test drive, and inspect the car on my own. You're trying hard not to show it but baby, baby I know it... When we sat down Amir got stone-faced when I tried to get a lower price (he wouldn't even lower the $599 documentation fee). I would normally appreciate the "no haggle" approach but he also wouldn't deliver on my most basic requests (like ordering a second key or floor mats). You lost that lovin' feelin' now it's gone, gone, gone, whoa-oh... the gas that is. I drove away with a 1/4 of a tank! Amir was friendly and assured us that the car had been thoroughly checked out at their body shop. Ten days after purchase, the battery was no good. Long drive from FV to Raleigh, left the car overnight, borrowed a car from a friend to get to work. Long drive to get the car back. A few days later the engine warning light comes on. Back we go. They keep the car overnight and replace a sensor. Long drive back the next day to get the car. Both repairs covered under their warranty but both had $100 deductibles. Very expensive car when you add all the gas and extra expenses for a car that was supposedly checked out completely. I'd recommend using a different mechanic to test one of their cars before you buy it. I have sent two emails to them beofre I posted this comment but they both came back with a message saying 'undeliverable'.
