The mechanic listened, asked good follow-up questions, made sure he understood the problem before drawing any conclusions, and then diagnosed it cleanly. The part arrived within the window he quoted (2-3 hours), was installed without fuss, and the final bill was reasonable. What stood out as much as the technical work: he flagged a slow coolant leak and a minor oil leak -- this is an older car, so neither was a shock -- but there was no pressure to pile on services. He showed me rough estimates so I'd have them when I'm ready and left the decisions to me. That kind of straightforward, no-upsell approach is rarer than it should be. The waiting area is a genuine plus: free wifi, a table big enough to work at, and a small fridge with complimentary drinks, large TV. My one suggestion would be to add a coffee in the AM. Also, the door to the reception currently reads "B". Might want to avoid any confusion with better signage. That said, I am a big fan of this establishment and will be using them for repairs in the future (apparently sooner than I want :) Bonus: he pointed me to a wonderful Indian place across the street, Biryani, which I'd highly recommend if you have time to kill while your car is being worked on.

A service technician approached my window and stated that they were trying to put air in my tire, but there was a problem with my tire valve stem. I asked him what the problem was, but he just stood there looking at me. He finally said it was broken and that they were trying to keep the (existing) air in the tire. I asked him if the (existing) air in the tire would get me to Knightdale. He stated that the air was coming out so fast that I would not make it far down the street. (If the rear tire valve stem was broken upon my arrival, then there was no way that I would have made it from my home in Zebulon to their shop! They said they would have to put my spare on my car. (If my tire valve stem was broken, then why would they "try" to put air in the tire? That is something that you would notify the customer about beforehand). (That and the hesitation of the technician to answer me when I asked him what was wrong with my tire valve stem loudly signified to me that they broke my tire valve stem, but did not want to admit it). I know for a fact that my tire valve stem on my car was not broken upon arrival. My TPMS warning light never came on and my car has not been serviced by anyone else. I had not experienced any problems with my tire nor tire valve stem until the technicians at Strickland serviced my car. (Though I knew they were at fault, I did not acknowledge it, because I did not want to hear their lies nor give them time to concoct a story before I submitted my complaint to BBB). I immediately took my car to my mechanic who noticed that not only one, but TWO of my tire valve stems were broken! Due to their negligence, I had to pay $135.14 to rectify THEIR mistake!! I viewed my receipt from Strickland Brothers Oil Change. Their fabrications were absurdly transparent! The receipt stated, "PASS SIDE REAR TIRE STEM BROKEN O/A." (Of course, there was no mention of the other one conveniently being broken). The receipt also stated that the Engine Air Filter Element Inspect was "Recommended but declined." How could I have refused the engine air filter inspection when it was never mentioned to me upon this visit?! I filed a complaint with BBB for Strickland to reimburse me $135.14. The area manager agreed that what the technicians told me did not make sense. However, the corporate claims department covered their technicians' obvious lies and denied my request stating that their camera showed them touching only one of my tires, not the other, so they would only reimburse me for half of what I paid - IF I agreed not to give them a bad review on social media platforms!! However, if I accepted half of the reimbursement and gave them bad reviews anyway, then I would have to pay them the money back!! I have never experienced such an atrocity as I did that day. The unexpected damage to my vehicle, the incurred cost to have it repaired, and the technicians' negligence and fabrications to hide their mistakes were not warranted! The corporate office is more concerned about ratings than doing what is morally and ethically correct. Strickland's validity is shot! I urge you to check the BBB ratings and NOT do business with them.
