One of the tastiest poke bowls I've had, wish this place was closer to me but I'd still drive 20 mins if I'm really craving one. When I started placing my order, I thought that this place was pricier than most, and wasn't too sure about it, but then I realized that the price includes 3 scoops of protein, most toppings and the portion size was perfect. Most places (and Ive tried a lot) nowadays only give you 2 scoops included in the price, and charge you for masago, seaweed, few other toppings but not this place. It seemed like a fair price for the amount of food we got. I'm taking off one star because customer service is quite literally non existent at this place. You walk in, nobody greets you, employees are standing in the back talking to each other, you place an order on the screen by yourself, scoot to the side and wait to get your name called up. Dumplings are well prepared, fresh and tasty. They are similar to the boiled dumplings I have when visiting friends in mainland China. The service is very friendly. The pork shrimp and chives are my favorite. The pork shrimp and mushroom steam dumplings are very good also. The shrimp dumplings are the dim sum style and are good too. Always great to see a new poke place in town. Located by the Folsom Dam, decided to check it out after a day by the lake. The inside is interesting. You can tell it was a former subway or something similar. The takoyaki was yummy. Overall my poke bowl was good though kind of pricey. The fish was fresh. The boba drinks were ok. Expensive for what you get. Ordered wonton soup, beef and onion dumplings, and braised pork sandwich. Everything was small and the presentation was bad. Wonton soup broth literally tasted like water with soy sauce in it. We were served on plates that were dirty and covered in oil... We had to clean them ourselves. Can't say I'll ever come back. Went on Saturday for lunch and it wasn't too crowded. They have a decent assortment of dumplings and smoothies/boba. We got a Xiaolongbao, a beef and sauerkraut dumpling, and their cucumber appetizer. They make the dumplings by hand which is a huge plus. Overall flavor was good, but slightly different than the traditional/average dumpling place, truly a hometown flavor. Their dumpling skins were slightly thick, but their Xiaolongbao still popped too easily and leaked their soup. The regular dumplings also had a bit of soup which was a nice surprise. Their cucumber was delicious, probably their best dish we had. They used to be a poke place but I'm glad they changed. Unique dumplings is a much more interesting offering that the area is lacking. read more

Hometown Dumpling has some amazing fresh made dumplings. Stopped there for lunch to get BBQ Pork Buns, Steam Dumplings, Wonton Soup and others. The pork buns had that soft pillowy dough that makes you want to eat the entire plate. You can easily tell everything is made in house and fresh by the texture and taste. Came here for dinner and ordered two 5 scoop poke bowls and two boba teas. The kiosk didn't take off a free boba tea in exchange for two poke bowls but the worker gave me $6 back after I ordered so that was nice. I thought the food was a bit pricey considering we got all tofu and no fish, but it was all very flavorful and delicious. It was nice to have some good vegetarian and vegan options. Apparently only the unagi sauce has fish in it, the other sauces are vegetarian. The guy was very friendly. I would return to support him and get more yummy vegetarian poke and boba teas. read more

The fish was fresh (I got ahi tuna and salmon) and the selection of topics was decent, but the extra fees added on top of the base price made this a little pricer than I would have liked. If I could put 0 stars I would! I ordered 5 scoop poke bowel I was starving. I still have the entire bowl because I could not stomach another bite. I tried a bite of salmon, tuna and spicy tuna. The fish was fowl, dry lacking any sauce and very fishy. I'm out of time now and can't have lunch plus almost $30 what a freaking waste! I even tried to put my own spicy mayo on to see if I could help the situation no luck. If you specialize in serving poke you should specialize in having fresh fish. read more
