Wonderful food, quality ingredients, great service and a cozy atmosphere, what more could you ask for? We really enjoyed our meal. Everything we requested, from childhood favs to specific requests the owners and chef came through for us! We had so many leftovers. Will return soon for sure. Thanks Hop Sing for being our home away from home

A little hidden gem in Old Folsom. Probably one of the oldest standing Chinese restaurants in Folsom. Originally owned by Lisa Ling's family. If ever craving Chinese food, come give this place a try. It is authentic Chinese food still owned by family and only family serving you. Prices have not raised in years, I honestly think that they should be raised. Prices are so affordable being in Folsom. Lunch combos are $12.95 -3 items and a soup!!! What a freaking deal!!! There is a banquet room in the back, perfect for reservations. Very cozy with a dim lit ambiance. Each little room in the back has its own theme. It's is a 60's Chinese era vibe. Very cute. The carpet is actually very clean, thick and cushioned walking through. Their egg rolls are in my opinion, so good. They are ginormous, really crispy, with not the traditional egg roll wrap. A must try, due to its their own spin on egg roll originality.

Great service, unique setting and best of all, great food. We were a large group of 10 and pre-ordered the Peking Duck. We should have ordered two because we all went wild for it! We ordered an array of food and it was all delicious. They also serve alcohol so that was fun too.

Love this place! It's been around for 3 generations and it's obvious they know what they're doing. Service is friendly with a smile and fast. The food is packed with flavor and comes out hot. The lighting is soft and low, creating an intimate dining experience. I have yet to try a dish I don't like. Their sweet and sour pork, egg foo young, pork fried rice, chicken cashew, and appetizer plate are some of my favorites. It's becoming a tradition to eat at Hop Sings the night before Thanksgiving. Great vibe!

I joined friends at Folsom's Historic District as a farewell event to a friend going back to Japan. We went to one of our usual haunts from the past, Hop Sing, a venerable local restaurant. Perhaps one of the reasons why I like it is because of its name, which reminds me of "Hop Sing," the irascible cook and general factotum on the iconic television series Bonanza. But it's beyond that as the exterior is thematically on-point and once you go through its doors, it is like traveling to the Orient instantly without needing a passport nor the jet lag. The food is decent, but one of the things that struck me was how overly reasonable their prices are, especially their specials and there's a bunch of them. Stingy isn't something you'd equate with their servings. I've been to this place over the decades and it has proven to be timeless, where the past and present co-exist and the kind of place that you wish would never go away if only for personal nostalgia. And there's a good chance it has staying power for posterity. After all, it opened in 1957 and if you're curios, Bonanza premiered in 1959. How's that for food for thought?

    Dinner for 2!!??? Wow!

First time here after seeing it for years! I loved everything! The service was great and they even held our leftovers while we shopped. The chow mein (Hong Kong style) had a choice of thin or thick noodles which was a nice option! The sweet and sour pork was flavorful and crispy. The dinner for two was priced at $36 for the one we had. It could have fed 4 people! Great leftovers for the next day. The decorations were fun and it felt like an old school place. We will be back for sure!!!! I can't wait to try the pot stickers. They looked so good!!!

Young rice included beef, chicken and shrimp. It was good.

We've seen this place over the years but never had a chance to check it out, until yesterday! We were sat at a booth immediately and had water and hot tea delivered quickly. We ordered the spareribs which were good. Lots of meat on the bones and the flavor was like bbq pork, delish! We ordered the young rice which had beef, chicken and shrimp. It was good too. We also ordered black pepper chicken which showed on the menu that it was spicy but it definitely was NOT spicy. It could have actually used more pepper but the flavor was great! The chicken was still crispy and the sauce was yummy. It came with green bell peppers and onions. Overall the service was good, food was good and location is good. Its located in Old Folsom and we got lucky with a parking spot right in front! I do wish they itemized the prices per dish when they give you the tab but it wasn't a big deal. The place is a little outdated but we didnt mind it. Service was a little slow with the food coming out but we also didnt mind it. We will definitely be back to try more food soon!

Food was just okay. The rice was bland. No egg no peas carrots etc. service was soooooo slow we almost got up to leave just as waitress finally got to us. The ambiance is old and needs updating. Huge place however.

We recently had the pleasure of trying out Hop Sing Palace, a Chinese-American restaurant that has been open since 1957, and what an experience! If this is what Chinese-American food used to be, my standards for such fare have now been skewed and I will be comparing all other establishments to Hop Sing Palace. Nestled in the historic district of Folsom, Hop Sing Palace has a lovely vintage entrance, which opens up into a high-ceilinged restaurant with a cozy, dark interior. The seating and vibes are beautifully reminiscent of a bygone era. I absolutely loved the ambiance of Hop Sing Palace and the service was stellar. We were immediately seated and served ice water as well as tea, and our server was extremely friendly and attentive. We went with two special luncheons for our mains and shared a wor won ton soup as our starter. Before our food arrived, I took a quick trip to the bathroom, and was mesmerized by the vintage newspapers plastered about the walls. While tiny, the bathroom was characteristic of the 50s and clean. Our wor won ton soup arrived super quickly, and our server took initiative to scoop soup and various veggies as well as wontons into the small bowls before serving us. The soup itself was packed with ingredients and my only "complaint" was that there was far more ingredients than broth. However, the broth that we did have was very clean yet flavorful, a perfect start to our meal. After we finished two bowls each of the broth, we waited for our lunch specials to arrive. Meanwhile, another server asked us if we were done with our soup and even took it back to pack it in a to-go container for us. Shortly after, our lunch specials arrived, and as expected, our plates were piled high with deliciousness. I chose the spare rib special while my husband chose the BBQ pork special. Both of our plates came with almond chicken chow mein and fried rice. We've never had almond chicken chow mein before and it was sooo good. Even the fried rice, that looked bland in the photos, was simple yet savory. Both the noodles and fried rice were cooked perfectly, and there was so much chicken in the chow mein as well. We added a bit of chili sauce that was at our table and it elevated our meal. My spare ribs were tender and super fun to gnaw on as well. Obviously we left Hop Sing Palace with plenty of leftovers (our lovely server even gave us a box to hold all of our containers), but more importantly, we left satisfied with the wonderful experience we had at what would be the oldest Chinese-American restaurant we've ever been to. We can't wait to return and try other dishes while stepping back in time during our meal. Hop Sing Palace is unlike any other Chinese-American restaurant we've ever been to and I highly recommend this establishment for anyone who wants to try simple, flavorful, and super affordable classic fare.

Every time I come to California I always visit Hop Sing's! I ordered the war won ton soup that is so good. Lots of vegetables and wontons filled with shrimp and sausages. Very filling; I love soups. What I really like is there are no noodles! The wait staff is so in tune to your needs. Asking if you need sauce, tea, refills. The decor is old traditional Chinese from the gold rush days. Hop Sings has been in Old Folsom since 1918. The really great thing is they remember you! It's just impossible to walk out dissatisfied!

This place cured my craving for something different!I'm new to the area and this was my first time at hop sing. As you walk in the decor takes you back in time, the service is attentive. We ordered the dinner for two the #4 - we were blown away on how much food you get! The cashew chicken was amazing! Will be back for another date night!

We heard so much good things about this place and decided to try it on Saturday afternoon. We were seated immediately on the booth. Since we were hungry, we chose $34 for 2 menu which includes 5 dishes & 1 appetizers. Each portion was very generous and we had lots of leftovers. - Egg flower soup: a bit bland for our taste - Wonton soup: the broth was kinda plain. But the wontons were very good! They were flavorful and had slight sweetness in the filling. - Deep fried prawns: very good and not oily. The prawns were big & perfectly cooked. The coating was just the perfect amount. The hot mustard and ketchup were the perfect dip for this dish - Sweet & sour pork: delicious. My kid's favorite! However, the sweet and sour sauce was more sweet and no sourness. The pork pieces were tender & juicy. - Fried rice: good regular fried rice but a bit plain - Cashew chicken: good. The veggies tasted fresh. The chicken pieces were tender. They were generous on the cashew as well. - HK style fried noodle with chicken: we upgraded the chow mien to deep fried noodle. The dish was good. There were lots of chicken pieces and the celery pieces were fresh.

Their orange chicken is super flavorful, and I loved that they used real oranges. The Kung Pao chicken is amazing--they include a variety of veggies and squash, which I loved. The beef chow mein was on point as well. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the chow mein was a little too soft (though the flavor was there), and the price felt a bit steep for the portion size. Three orders for $60--eeep! I miss the good ol' days when a whole plate was filled to the rim and overflowing from the to-go box for $12-$15, but it is what it is. Anyways, if you've got the dough, I'd spend it here.
