I went for lunch on a Friday and with their help, I ordered the pork and shrimp dumplings, BBQ pork buns, and my favorite, sesame balls. The portions were generous, and everything was delicious. There were so many dumplings in the order that I couldn't finish them, and I took them, cold, to my teenager, and she thought they were fantastic. Further, they let me stay in their restaurant and finish a work project. I took up a seat and they were nothing but accommodating to me. Not a place for the ambiance let's get that out of the way. It's a hole in the wall feel to it, but when it comes to the food, it's tasty. Price is also very modest. Best for take out or come without expecting much of an ambiance. With that out of the way, we ordered the few vegetarian options on the menu the side dishes and the vegetarian dumplings. Wife doesn't like chives so it didn't sit well with her but she and I agree the skin is thin enough and has good chewy texture. My son and daughter actually love the chives and tofu dumplings and my son said he would like to have it everyday! Ordered pick up on a Saturday evening for 730p pick up(an hour before closing 830p). The order was on time for pick up when ordered at 645p. There was a family of 5 and 2 other people eating inside who seemed to be enjoying their meals. Everything lacked flavor. The cream cheese Rangoon, Fried pork cabbage, pork cabbage, pork soup dumpling, shrimp dumpling, and pork chive shrimp were flat out terrible. You would've been better served picking up frozen dumplings from Ranch 99. Didnt eat more than 1 piece of each order. Definitely will not be returning. I have been meaning to swing by here for quite some time. Yesterday was the day. I was greeted quickly and handed an order sheet and a Sharpie. I selected the pork shrimp mushroom steamed dumplings, pork soup dumplings and BBQ pork buns (whoa, that's a lot of pork!). Each table had an assortment of condiments, including soy sauce, vinegar, red chili paste and Sriracha. Just before my food arrived, a small plate, Asian soup spoon, chopsticks and a small glass of ice water (in a real glass) were delivered to my table. I really appreciate the lack of single-use materials! Next came the two steaming hot baskets of dumplings, quickly followed by the BBQ buns (which unfortunately weren't quite as hot). I dove into the soup dumplings because they're the best, especially steaming hot. There was a generous portion of tasty pork but sadly, not so much soup for a soup dumpling. Still delicious and I ate every last one of them (partly because they're not much good as leftovers). The pork shrimp mushroom steamed dumplings were just OK. I brought most of those home to try again later. Lastly came the BBQ buns. This is one of my all time favorite types of dim sum. The buns themselves were nice and fluffy, with plentiful filling. I just wished they'd had more sauce and were a little warmer. I brought home 2 of the 3 and will give them another chance today for lunch. The older lady made all the dumpling by hand and the guy cooked our order fresh. - pork chives prawn boiled dumpling: my favorite dumplings among other items. The dumpling was hefty with lots of filling. The meat was well seasoned (not too salty). The skin was chewy and soft. - pork celery boiled dumpling: they had lots of filling inside the dumpling. The pork was meaty and delicious. - pork sauerkraut steam dumpling: it was ok because I couldn't really taste the sauerkraut. - pork shrimp mushroom steam dumpling: the filling was delicious! It had umami flavor and the meat was well seasoned. - XLB: good. The soup inside XLB was delicious and the meat was well seasoned. We added some lettuce at home to cut the salt. Cabbage might make it amazing. Pork Shrimp and Mushroom Steamed Dumpling - 7 A tad n the fishy tasting side but still good Pork Soup Dumpling (XiaLongBao) 8 - A bit too much dough but the pork is tasty. Not much soup inside. Make sure to use the dipping sauce. Taro Bun - 6 Not a lot of flavor but there is taro up in there. The people there are friendly too, but sometimes it helps if you know a little mandarin. I think I've tried most of the items on the menu. The dumpling skins are medium thin (a bit thicker for the fried ones) and they're well filled. The ingredients aren't 'hidden away' in the filling, so if there's shrimp in it, you can see and taste the shrimp, you can see the pieces of mushroom and taste the flavor.... they're also not overly salty. I decided to try this place based on all the positive reviews, but I was extremely disappointed. The restaurant was dirty and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I ordered a bottled Diet Coke that turned out to be expired, and the condiments on the table were sticky and gross. The Sriracha was over six months past its expiration date. When I went to the bathroom, it reeked of urine, and there were no paper towels or soap -- which made me very uneasy about their food handling. I asked for a refund, but the cashier hesitated and said the food had already been started. I explained that I didn't feel comfortable eating somewhere that serves expired products. This location replaced the former Poke & Boba. We just recently saw the "soft opening" sign go up so guessing it's been less than a week since they opened. When we walked in around 12, there was one customer already waiting for their food. Two other groups joined us during our meal. We saw the soup dumplings being freshly made behind the counter. Pleasantly surprised by the generous size portion. Flavor was pretty good. I liked the wonton soup too. No meat in the egg rolls but they did come out piping hot and I appreciated the crispy texture however this was not something I think I'd order again. With everything being made fresh to order and no other workers besides the husband and wife (and possibly grandma?) expect a bit of a wait during their soft opening. It was cute to see their daughter help bring out water and tableware for the guests.
