The name says it all - YUMMY DUMPLINGS! We arrived on a rainy night and most of the tables were occupied. It turns out they were all waiting (not long) for takeout orders so we had the place to ourselves. We were warmly welcomed and since we had already checked out the menu and what's good in advance on Yelp we ordered the Pork and Chive Dumplings and the Chicken, Shrimp Potstickers and hot teas. Thanks to a mirror on the counter I had a good view of the bustling activity in the kitchen. Soon we had our piping hot food and it was delicious. We planned to eat half and take the rest home but it was so good we had nothing left. Service was great - we were asked several times how we liked our order and if we needed anything. I remember eating here before so when we were hungry for Chinese tonight we ordered from DoorDash. As their name implies, the dumplings are yummy. They are just huge and hard to eat. It would be much better if they offered them in smaller quantities, maybe 3 or 5, so we could share some different types instead of having to have so much leftover. I did like the sauce, it had a nice kick. Where the order disappointed was the other items. We got sesame beef, sesame chicken, and house fried rice. The fried rice had little flavor. The beef was tough and the chicken was basically inedible. It had so much breading it was soft on the outside. And the sauce didn't have a sesame flavor, more like a sweet and sour. Good amount of food to cost ratio I guess? Too much sauce on the Chow Mein and it soaks the takeout bag and gets everywhere in leaks. The flavor is alright, maybe it laster longer to eat because of the sodium content. The flavor doesn't stand out, very basic, I wish I went to Panda nearby and paid less for variety as this place requires hefty orders and not at price points I really like -- more of a family style thing where things are ordered in bulk and the single dish wouldn't be able to satisfy my diverse needs. Dumplings and Chinese Dishes [Cameron Park CA] On the way home coming from Highway 50 from Lake Tahoe we stopped by this dumpling restaurant for dinner. Only knew about this place when we came here in the morning to get some donuts next door so we said we'd come back the same way coming home to try it out. We ordered Dumpling Soup, Beef Broccoli and Pork Fried Rice. The serving was generous and the food was good. While the quality of the food is crucial the restaurant ambiance could use a little appeal like décor, lighting, colors, seating, and such, that can bump up the dining experience besides the food. Patio seating is the same. Most of the people that came in and out of the restaurant were takeouts, Dashers and other food delivery services. It makes my heart so happy when I find places like Yummy Dumplings, especially when I am in the mood for delicious dumplings! This place is located right off the 50 in a tiny strip mall. Parking is tight, but doable. I was in the area to get my car serviced so I stopped here before my appointment. The entrance is extremely unassuming, with an equally spartan interior. But don't let that fool you. I didn't really have any expectations set for Yummy Dumplings as I have a pretty high bar for dumplings and didn't want to disappoint myself if they weren't great. But I was very pleased with my lunch. I went with an order of pork and chive dumplings as well as a house fried rice. You order and pay before taking a seat. For $12, you get 10 stuffed, juicy dumplings that come with two dipping sauces, which complimented the dumplings nicely. I also asked for chili oil, which had a lovely roasted flavor. The fried rice was also good. It wasn't exceptional, but it paired well with my dumplings and I liked the texture of the rice itself. I was the only person dining in, so it was a quiet place to enjoy my food. Several people came in during my lunch to pick up their phone orders. During my meal, the owners were chatting away in Cantonese. Next time maybe I'll order in Canto. Yummy Dumplings also offers other classic Chinese fare such as kung pao chicken. I posted an updated menu as part of my review. All the prices are extremely affordable, especially the dumplings! They even have a small drink menu, which I'd be down to try next time I visit. For a tiny, family-run restaurant in Cameron Park, this place is goooood. It's unusual to find good dumplings away from major cities (okay I know it's not that far from Folsom but Cameron Park is a pretty small town), so I'm very happy to have found this place. There are food joints that earn a place in your heart and this is one of them. From time to time I go up and down Highway 50 through Cameron Park and Yummy Dumplings is one of my usual stops because of a few factors. One, I just love their pot stickers and when you do order them, I highly recommend their pan fried version. I'm a big advocate of supporting mom and pop joints and you can't get more small-business mom-in' and pop-in' than this Asian restaurant. Above all, these folks are sincere in their good-natured-ness. Honestly the food was very bland I couldn't even finish it. Ordered the fried rice and soup. Fried rice tasted alright after a couple of bites then after that it started loosing its taste. The dumpling noodle soup was the absolute worst part. It tasted like a watered down noodle soup and the noodles just wasn't right. It's like the noodles that were being used were the noodles u get from a cup of soup or instant ramen brand. I literally couldn't finish the soup. The dumpling barely passes. We arrived there for lunch on Saturday noon and were seated immediately. - Pork & chive dumplings: BEST dumplings in the area! The dumpling is big! The skin was soft & not too thick. The pork filling was flavorful and juicy! The soy sauce dip was sweet yet savory - perfect for the dumplings. - Chicken & snowpeas: delicious. The veggies (snowpeas, carrot, bell pepper, onions & celery) were fresh and still crunchy. The chicken pieces were tender. And the portion was big. - BBQ pork bao: these were delicious pan fried bao. The bun was soft and fluffy. My kid said the filling was tasty. I didn't have a chance to taste it as my kid finished it all. - Sweet & sour chicken: ok. The portion was quite generous. Came here just for the dumplings, and I wasn't disappointed. The woman at the counter who took my order was very friendly and smiling. I said we'd like to eat outside, and she said sure. (There was no one sitting outside at the time.) Another woman came to wipe down our table, and not too long after that, the woman who took my order brought it to our table. She apologized for the wait, which was actually only about 5 minutes. My understanding is that their dumplings are either boiled ("dumplings") or fried ("pot stickers"). The latter can be prepared either pan fried or deep fried (your choice). I had the veggie dumplings (so, boiled). They were super fresh (and hot!), and filled with small bits of veggies. I know there were carrots, and maybe celery, chives, ...? Honestly, I'm not sure what was in there, but it was a delicious mixture. The dipping sauce they gave was a delicious blend of sweet, salty, and spicy, with none of those three overwhelmingly strong. You might think 10 dumplings wouldn't be enough for a meal, but for me, it definitely was. They're quite filling, and a good deal for the price. And so tasty! read more

At first glance, this place is a complete hole in a wall. Ambiance and charm is zero. But what they do have are yummy dumplings. Hey what a minute... that is also the name of the place. The dumplings are served steamed or pan fried. Either way, there yummy. There are various protein filling. My fave is the ground pork and chives. I have no particular preference in having them steamed or pan fried. Both are delicious. Anyways besides dumplings, they have other menu items such as soups and entrees. The hot n sour is sooo darn good. It is deliciously sour and spicy with a thick smooth consistency. It has bamboo shoots and tofu. The blistered garlic Chinese string beans is another fave. I mentioned this place gives off hole in the wall vibe, but not meaning it to be unclean. Right when you walk in, you might have flashbacks to the 1990s or even earlier due to the basic decor and restaurant furniture. You may also see someone sitting in the corner assembling those yummy dumplings. They do it so quickly and precisely. I didn't get close, just noticed from afar. read more

There's really nothing bad to say about that part. Unfortunately, the restaurant is in a strip mall. It was too cold inside so we ate outside which was pretty pleasant next to a shrub that was cooling! (93°). It was shady and met our needs very well! Both friends I was with after spending a day of wine tasting in the area highly recommended this place. The minute we walked in we saw one of the employees making fresh dumplings. The service was quick and very nice. We shared the wor wonton, fried kimchi pork dumplings, beef chow mein, and chicken and corn pot stickers. That is probably the best chow mein I've eaten. All of the food was delicious and hot, they came out fast with it at our table. We were able to dine in at a table. It's a small place with not a lot of seating. The wor wonton was great especially the wontons in the soup. But my favorite were the deep fried kimchi pork dumplings. You can order the dumplings different styles like fried or steamed. Any other dumpling placed I've dined at, they're usually steamed or come as is. I ordered the chicken chow mein, wonton soup and chai/Thai tea. The chow mein was mostly noodles with an average amount of chicken and not too many veggies. My grandkids love it! The wonton soup had the broth separate from the 12 wontons along with broccoli and carrots on the side as well. I love this because then the wontons do not get soggy by the time I take it home! The wontons were delicious! They also included two cups of dumpling sauce in case I wanted to eat the wontons on their own which I did! The sauce was yummy too! My daughter in law loves the chai/Thai tea, not sure which it is but it orange color with a lot of milk and it is sweet. I had been here years ago and bought the dumplings. They were tasty but the thick dough is not the type of dumplings that I like so haven't been back. The wontons had thin dough so that is what I will order in the future for sure! The restaurant is small, but there are a few tables in there if you want to eat there. Otherwise you order at the counter. The woman who helped me with my order was pleasant. Placed an online order and got a notification about 20 minutes later saying it was ready and so I went in to pick it up, and the woman at the counter, Angela tried saying someone else picked it up. Which is impossible, because I live alone. She continued to argue with me and I told her I wanted a refund, and she didn't know to refund me my money. So she had me sit and wait until she could figure it out. All while this was happening, other customers were coming and phone orders were coming in. She hardly acknowledged the customers coming in, including me. Very horrible customer service, and I think they should rethink how they run things. read more

2/22/2023: Today, is one digit shy of a complete palindrome day! Driving from Placerville, I decided visiting Yummy Dumplings: I decided ordering Wor Won Ton soup plus, shrimp and chicken dumplings which I requested taking both food orders to go; however, upon arriving at my humble abode, I disappointingly noticed the two pieces of twice-cooked meat looked egregiously old and over-cooked, I discovered only four over-cooked Wor Won dumplings which were found in the soup, three small shrimps which were literally floating appearing old, a small 1/2 clump of broccoli, Bok Choy was missing from the soup as well as other seafood such as clams, octopus, prawns, i.e., the Wor Won Ton soup made was heinously, horrific, Americanized soup failing resembling Hong Kong/Kowloons' AUTHENTIC Wor Won Ton soup! WTH!!!!!??? WHY have this horrible concoction described as WOR WON TON SOUP when the soup IS NOT WOR WON TON SOUP!!!!???? The pseudo-saving GRACE for Yummy Dumpling increasing via one star were the shrimp and chicken dumplings' size; however, the filling wasn't flavorful or worth commenting . . . Ordered house chow mein, pork fried rice, Mongolian beef, honey walnut prawns, seasame chicken, and two orders of cheese wontons. Very low quality meat. The chicken and beef were hard and chewy. Also the seasame chicken had zero crunch on the breading. The walnut prawns had no creamy sauce or breading on the shrimp. The rice was exceptional. I guess I'm used to crab cheese wontons because just these cheese ones were very bland and not good at all. I don't want to talk bad about a place but it's the truth.
