We visited our friends here in Folsom. And one of our friends treated us at Hisui Sushi. I read that it is a popular spot known for its impressive food presentation. The staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean, I used their restroom and it's clean. I always do this coz this is really important to me. If they treat the restroom really good that says about the food they serve as well. Their decor is simply nice and beautiful as well. The menu offers a variety of delicious options, and not too pricey. However, I just learned about their AYCE sushi when I read the reviews the next day. Wish we had known before we ordered so that we can try it. We appreciate the experience, attentive service, and their high-quality food. They even put orchid flower on a couple of the plates we ordered as a decor. Some staff recommended for us trying the Chirashi Don bowl or innovative sushi rolls but we declined. Parking is free and ample. Next to Ranch 99 so you can go after you eat if you need to go groceries. Highly recommended. read more

Phoned in a takeout order. There was a bit of confusion over name-description of items I was ordering, but in the end, my order came out exactly as I wanted. The order was ready in about 15 minutes, as estimated. I ordered the Spicy Ramen, but skipped the egg and pork (and requested extra veggies in their place). They did seem to give extra veggies, and the bowl was loaded with spinach and mushroom slices, along with several fish cakes and peppers. The Ramen noodles were cooked well, and I enjoyed eating everything, except the broth itself (not much flavor, and salty, to my taste). My husband looked at photos here on Yelp, and found one labeled "Stir fried veggie udon". That isn't on the online menu, and when I tried to order it, I was told that it was Veggie Udon (which is usually cooked in broth) "stir-fried in Teriyaki sauce" (not on the menu). And indeed it was. He loved it. The Teriyaki sauce was not overly sweet (like many other places). The stir-fry was well done (not oily), with a very good selection of veggies, and some tofu. The veggies and noodles were cooked to perfection. It was a big hit for him. Prices were quite reasonable, and the few people I interacted with were very pleasant. We were hiking in the area so we stopped by here for the lunch AYCE. It's $30/pp, which for the quality of the fish and the rolls it's pretty good for the price so you don't have to break the bank. We like that their rolls came as four pieces so we were able to try more options. The rolls were pretty tasty, just wish they had less sauce over them. I went to Hisui Sushi for lunch and had a patchy experience. The price was affordable and customer service was great. We got seated fast and the waitress was attentive and answered our questions. The restaurant offers plenty of seating space in the main dining room as well as seating at the bar. We got three rolls and some nigiri. First the nigiri, the fish did not taste fresh at all. We had the halibut/albacore. The rice did not taste as fresh as I had hoped it to be, which kind of affected the overall quality of the nigiri. The rice tasted stale. On this visit we also had three rolls. While some parts of the rolls were fine, others simply were not that tasty and had the stale rice. It was slightly disappointing given the high standards for good sushi and overall rating for this restaurant. We, of course, had to be different and bring sushi haha. 10 orders of Sake (salmon) 10 orders of Maguro (tuna) 4 orders of Ika (squid) 4 orders of Hirame (Halibut) And 1 order of the California Roll Everything came out perfect. Tasted super fresh! And I have to say the price was great! 177.00 total, but for the amount of sushi we got i would say that is totally fair! It is so nice to know a sushi spot remains where the pricing is really fair and they are not trying to gouge the crap out of you lol. Those four letters A Y C and E, one after another catches my attention every time. When I found out that Hisui Sushi offers AYCE lunch buffet of sushi, my interest was peaked. I gave it a go. But alas, I have to say it was ok. However, it is worth a visit for folks not in a time crunch and wanting an AYCE experience with the purpose of filling up. I dropped in a weekend and the waitress was working various tables, it was difficult for her to provide optimal customer service for all her tables. She had a terrific up beat attitude. But do you the large number of customers, I did not see her for long stretches of time making it difficult to order buffet items and timely get the bill. Plus there is a wait time from sushi chefs to churn out the sushi. For the lunch buffet, you order items off a pre-set menu. You are limited to five items at a time. The sushi rolls are half size. The quality and flavors of the sushi were not bad but not particularly outstanding. Chicken skewers: One serving is two skewers of what tasted like thigh meat. The flavors were safe, on the mild side. The teriyaki sauce drizzled on top added flavor. Crispy salmon skin hand roll: Hello... this was fantastic! Absolutely delish. The strips of salmon skin were fried to a light crispness with a salty savory taste. Spicy tuna hand roll: The tuna had a grounded up consistency with a strong smelling marinade. I took only a couple of bites and could not get over the texture and smell. Rainbow roll: It had thin slices of sashimi. So thin, that I could not taste the flavors of the various fish. I also ordered another roll but it also had very thin slices of sashimi and not memorable. I wanted to order more food but I did not see my waitress and being there for nearly a hour with the restaurant filling up with more customers, I called it. Due to its location in a not so diverse city, it's not your typical sushi restaurant. The nigiri is pre sliced by the staff instead of keeping them in saku blocks and slicing to order. However, you'll find traditional Japanese sushi cuisine being served. Another thing is the portion sizes are HUGE. See the picture for the gigantic crispy rice tuna appetizer. Popped in this afternoon for a quick bite and was surprised to see they offer AYCE for lunch! We chose the regular menu but that's always an option for another time. The host was friendly and our server was nice as well. The restaurant was pretty much packed on a Saturday afternoon but we were served quickly and everything arrived with a short wait. We were in and out in about 40 minutes. We ordered the Firecracker to start and that was amazing!! I subbed out the spicy tuna for crab mix and that was perfect. Everything else okay. I generally love nigiri, but the nigiri here is too rice heavy. The scallops were slightly fishy and wasn't the most fresh compared to other times I have tried hotate. The albacore was fine. I like how they offer a little bit of pickled wasabi on the side but, we wouldn't order their nigiri if we go back. The rolls were fine. The crab mix is a little heavy on the mayonnaise and the Snow White roll was very saucy too. They are a little too rice heavy for me as well. Wow! I was impressed to find this great of a sushi place in Folsom. We came for a birthday and was not disappointed. We arrived in the afternoon right before their buffet was able to end. I went to Hisui Sushi with my partner and our friend and we all got the All You Can Eat Lunch. $30 per person is a pretty solid deal for AYCE as you get a lot of food and it is less expensive than the other AYCE option in Folsom (Tao's Hotpot & Shabu). I thought the food was good, but nothing I ate had me wanting to go back for more. I also wish they had a roll with eel on the AYCE menu. The server was nice and we got our food in a relatively timely manner. Also, the restaurant wasn't too loud, so our party appreciated that. Finally, my partner recommends that you don't get the fried banana. It sounds appealing, but the execution was not there. Provided menus and water shortly after. We started off with the spicy garlic edamame and it was tasty! Next up was the Jalapeño Hamachi Tapa eats which was a table favorite! We could have eaten a couple of these. The sushi rolls started to roll out! No pun intended. Get it? Bwahahahha ok I'll stop We ordered the Giants Roll, Prisoners Roll and the Hole in One special. They were all yummy choices. Our dearest birthday celebrant wasn't full sampling everything that he ended up ordering a chicken udon as well! My youngest love Hamachi Kama and we were told to not be surprised that it might be the last dish to arrive as it takes the longest to cook. Sure enough it was the last dish to arrive but my youngest went hands in and tore it up! All in all, it was a great bday dinner! We weren't offered any desserts and dinner without any drinks for 4 at $150 these days are trending to be the new norm. It's a solid place for dinner IMO. AYCE! Yum! Tried this place out for the first time with my family today. Parking is pretty easy to you go around the corner away from Ranch 99. We were greeted and seated right when we entered. They have hand sanitizer at all the tables and require masks upon entry and when up and about from your seat. Our waiter, Aiden was fantastic as well as the gentleman who refilled our water throughout our time there. They were friendly and attentive and Aiden could tell when we were ready to order more. Among the 4 of us, we tried pretty much everything on the menu plus returned to some of our favorites. A great place for AYCE lunch (or any meal in general)! Located in a large business center, around the corner from Ranch 99, parking is no problem in the shared lot. I have yet to try the full extensive menu, but the AYCE is worth experiencing. Fish to rice ratio is perfect amount - not too much nor too little. Substantial filling in rolls and rolled compactly without falling apart. They do only do AYCE for lunch (with Saturday being the only weekend day available) so it can get quite busy though we went about half hour after opening and were seated immediately. Service is very efficient - almost a little too attentive but not necessarily a bad thing. Food was fresh, place was clean. The only con, if any at all, is that the rolls seem to be different mixes of similar variety so it can start tasting the same. We love this place and it's always our go to sushi restaurant in folsom. But this review is for our latest visit. We ordered the lambada roll and the lucky # 7 roll. We placed a to go order and the server on the phone was nice and helpful. The rolls were disappointing. Both rolls were poorly assembled and fell apart when you picked them up. Not one piece of either roll held their form and basically all of the ingredients just fell out the bottom because they were not rolled properly. That was disappointing but manageable. The real downside was that the lucky #7 was fishy beyond belief and neither of us took more than one bite before putting it back in the box and throwing it away. Really a bummer. At this point I'm not sure if it's worth another try or if this is the sign that we need to find a new favorite sushi restaurant in Folsom. read more

Be aware of fraud tip charges to your bank account. An employee told me that a particular waiter does this and it happened to me and I reported it to the restaurant. They use a portable payment device there and they bring it to your table for you to sign on the screen while they stand there and watch you making you feel uncomfortable. I was still eating and told the waitress I didn't want to sign off touching the dirty device because I am still eating and she said oh but you have to because I already processed your card and wanted me to now include her tip I told her I will sign for the amount of the bill and pay the tip in cash which I do quite a bit. She ended up putting in her tip without my knowledge which is a felony (stealing customers money) So just be aware and look at your credit card statement as soon as possible read more

Two stars because the food is great, but we had an awful experience NYE. Called in food at 5pm and was told it would be ready at 6. I understand NYE is a crazy night for sushi restaurants so we didn't mind waiting a little. My husband and son showed up at 6 and the food was not ready until 7.. the manager kept dismissing them and just continued to say the kitchen was backed up. However, they kept seating new tables and taking new to go orders! Why would they continue to do this if the kitchen was behind? The manager was not apologetic at all, had us wait 2 hours when we were quoted 1, and we watched other peoples orders get taken and completed while my husband and son just sat there.
