We've been back 2x since my last review and the service is consistent as well the quality of food. We have a birthday in our party and was given a small bowl of ice cream as a treat at the end and of course, getting that instant photograph is part of the experience.

We went for my daughter's birthday. The food was great and service was also. Can't wait to try the hibachi grill next time

My team wanted Hibachi and we chose here for our lunch meeting. There were 10 of us and we were seated immediately. You could order off the lunch or dinner menu and the lunch specials were great. Half the price of dinner. I went with the Ribeye and shrimp and the food was delicious. Our cook was fun and even tossed some food in our mouths lol. We had a great meal with great service

I liked the dressing on the salad. The soup was very flavorful. I requested the steak to be cooked rare, but it arrived more cooked. The chicken was very dry, and the sauce was overly sweet. The sushi was good.

I certainly don't have anything against them, but I have to admit that I do find it unexpected that I've been to more teppanyaki/habachi restaurants in the last year and a half than in all of my years prior. No special occasions for it either; just separate circles of friends/gf suggesting it for something different, but kind of funny considering I've never had the urge for it. As such, perhaps all of this should be taken with a grain of salt, though, I do practically feel like a teppanyaki connoisseur at this point... Compared to similar places that I've been to (a few Benihana locations and Tokyo Steakhouse over in Natomas), Shogun Sushi Hibachi is both similar and distinctly different. While the other two are decidedly larger in size, this place is notably cleaner and quieter. As for the menu, it's pretty comparable to the other two, offering a variety of both hot and cold appetizers, bento boxes, noodle dishes (soup and dry), sushi rolls, and, of course, a range of teppanyaki offerings featuring either a single meat or a combination there of. -- AGEDASHI TOFU This clearly isn't something they're known for, but it still wasn't great. The tofu were oddly pale yet had brown patches (like pan fried vs deep fried), the skin was super thin and not at all crispy, and they tasted bland on their own. -- HABACHI RIB EYE with Rib Eye Steak, Soup, Salad, Shrimp Appetizer, Hibachi Vegetables, and Fried Rice (+$1.99) All in all, pretty solid. The chunks of rib eye were tender and nicely cooked, the soup was great, the hibachi vegetables weren't drowning in sauce nor oily, and the fried rice wasn't too salty, though the shrimp appetizer was a bit overcooked. As far as service goes, the servers were a little hit or miss (not overly friendly, but efficient and quick), but our chef was terrific - far more entertaining and personable than the one we had at Tokyo Steakhouse yet without the cheesy shtick you get from the chefs at Benihana. Similarly, there are pros and cons with almost every aspect of the overall meal when compared with Benihana and Tokyo Steakhouse - Shogun's soup is the best, the salad is comparable, the shrimp appetizer here is worst, the veggies here are better, the quality of the meat is better, and there's an upcharge for fried rice like at Benihana, whereas Tokyo Steakhouse's bacon fried rice is included. Overall, compared to the likes of Benihana and Tokyo Steakhouse, Shogun Sushi Habachi is closer to the former than the latter, but the way we were semi-nudged out did leave a slightly bad aftertaste to the experience. Still, if I had to choose, I'd probably lean towards coming back here over the other two, though doing so wouldn't stem from a craving for teppanyaki, despite the great times with friends.

We came here for my partners bday. And we wanted to love it but it just wasn't great. The food was pretty bland. The ribeye was a cheap cut. The chicken was over cooked and flavorless. Everything needed salt. The salad was good though. This just isn't a place I will come back to. It's pricey and the quality isn't worth it.

Wow! What an experience! Absolutely loved this place. The staff was friendly, attentive and the cook was so much fun with his entertaining moves! Then there was the food! Whoa! Best seafood and sampler I've had in a long time! Worth the few extra bucks for a perfect family night out!

Let me start by saying I'm always looking for a good hibachi place. One that gives me that flavor of the "B"word. While in the area I searched for a Teppanyaki place and to my surprise this restaurant popped up. It had decent reviews so I figured we'd give it a go. We did not have a reservation but were able to be seated pretty quickly. We were a party of three and joined a party of five who did have a reservation. When you walk in the entrance is covered with small Polaroid instant photos of diners on their birthdays or special occasions. there are options to not have the Teppanyaki experience you can just sit at a table if you like and order. But we always enjoy the Teppanyaki experience and that it comes with salad and soup And a shrimp appetizer. Overall the service was excellent including our chef. Everyone was pleasant and friendly. The food was good although I would have loved some more seasoning and more vegetables in the fried rice because I didn't have any on my plate. And it was also underseasoned to me more butter more garlic, pepper just something to give it that extra boost. The food overall I'd like to give it 3.5 stars but there's no way to do that. I have the ribeye and the scallops it was good but again just needed something else. Will I ever go back there to eat if I'm in the area absolutely.

The Vine is in Old Folsom across from restaurants and bars, making it an ideal spot to possibly start a girls night or date night at if you wanted to walk around after. It's a cute cozy wine spot with a nice selection to choose from. When we got here it was initially empty but soon people started to trickle in. The worker was really nice, we were able to sample different wines, and he was helpful in answering questions we had. The inside is clean, there's bar seating, tables, a small couch area, and seats in the window if you wanna people watch. The wine we tried was really good, I really liked their more tart white wines and the sparkling blue champagne. The inside was also nice and air conditioned which helped with the hot weather outside. The day we went they weren't serving any food outside of salads but the food portion of their menu looked pretty good. This place was super cute and I'd definitely come again!

Thus cheered, we were seated quickly, even though we arrived without a reservation. Water, bread and menus came quickly. Perusing them to the background mix of contemporary mellow pop (think James Taylor and Van Morrison) and old standards, we decided on the petite prime rib for the carnivore (me) and sea scallops served over risotto for my wife. We each chose flights of wine to accompany our entrees. Despite including three wines per flight, the pours were fairly generous. Our dishes were perfectly prepared and came out more quickly than we expected, considering that the place was almost full. Our server checked back just enough and took care of any special requests promptly, even offering to exchange one of the wines (out of six!) that we didn't like for something better suited to our taste. The pace was leisurely which was fine given the good food and wine accompanied by the relaxed vibe of the live music. And the prices were quite reasonable given the quality of both the food and service. A dark-ish old school atmosphere added to its charm for us Baby Boomers, but even younger diners seemed to be enjoying themselves. As for us, we highly recommend it!

When we first walked in, we were impressed. Cute little conversation nooks with comfy furniture in little corners, a decent wine and beer list, and some appetizers. The menu says all beers are $5 on Thursday all day. We figured it was perfect for what we needed. We settled into a corner that was near the salon, as there was no other seating inside. Did I mention the comfortable furniture? Well, it's a good thing it was comfortable. We sat for nearly an hour, waiting to have our order taken. The first two of us to arrive we're given some water to drink, but myself, and the other straggler were never offered water. During this time we got to experience the...ahem... aroma of the salon next-door. Peroxide and other hair products don't usually lead to an appetite. We decided to wait it out. And wait we did. After nearly an hour, the one employee who appeared to be working today, came to take our order. My friend ordered a glass of wine and she told him that they were out of that one, so he chose another option. I then ordered a beer, and she started to leave the table. Somehow she hadn't seen that there were 4 of us? Friend who had been ignored quickly said , 'and I'LL HAVE ..." to get the server's attention, and then ordered a glass of wine, while our final friend ordered a beer. There was a buffalo cauliflower appetizer on the menu, and we ordered it for the table. The server arrived after a few minutes with one glass of wine, which she sat in front of me, and a beer which she placed in front of my friend. We assumed that she had just mixed up the two of us, so we traded, and I took a sip of my beer. She then came back with another glass of wine. She started to leave and told us to let her know if there was anything else we needed, so we reminded her that we had another beer and an appetizer coming. This is when she told me that the beer that I had ordered was one that they were out of. I held up the one in my hand and said oh, is this not mine? Since we had already waited an hour, my friend just took the beer that I had sipped from, and I waited while she went to get me my new order. When we were nearly done with our drinks, our appetizer finally arrived. It was all we could do to keep from laughing out loud. That was the smallest possible plate with the smallest possible amount of cauliflower on it. A handful, but not an adult handful. Well, maybe Bernadette from Big Bang Theory, but not an average sized adult hand. For four people. You would think she would have told us that it was small and we might want more than one for the table. Honestly, I would've wanted more than one for just myself. To their credit, the cauliflower did taste good. Good thing the salon smells had ruined our appetite. We waited again and finally got our check. They had charged us for one glass of wine, the overpriced $12 handful of cauliflower, and two beers. However, the advertised five dollar happy hour price for the beer was not reflected on the check. She had charged us seven dollars each for the beers. We called this to her attention when we went to the counter to pay, as well as the fact that she had not charged us for one of our glasses of wine. She said "oh yeah. I did that to make up for the beer. We're not doing that anymore. We don't have happy hour on Thursday anymore." It seemed to have escaped her that you can't list something on the menu at a certain price and then charge a different price. Overall, they get one star for comfy couches. We won't be back.

I did not read the salad area menu to know that bacon came on it. I don't eat pork and had asked for my flatbread to not have bacon and the salad to not have crutons if they put those on; wish the wait staff had mentioned the bacon on the salad bc I had already asked to have the flatbread without and also bc it's unusual imo to have it standard on a ceasar.
