I've had this place on my radar for a while and recently had the chance to swing by for a late lunch. I was thrilled to learn that the former long-time chef at Samurai Sushi, Richard, opened this place and brought along all the fan favorites from their menu. Hooray! Service was friendly and very on point since I came during the quiet mid-afternoon period. The relatively small restaurant in a strip mall is unassuming but welcoming. Richard was busy hanging some banners when I arrived, adding to the ambiance. He is extremely proud of the freshness and quality of his fish as well as the reasonable price point of his offerings, and rightfully so. I enjoyed some hamachi toro nigiri and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. Then I got one of my all-time favorites, the Hole in One roll. He readily made some substitutions to personalize my roll, which I truly appreciated. Lastly, I had the Drops, which I liken to dessert sushi. Sweet and so satisfying. Nice little gem in the same Winco Parking Plaza. Has all your typical sushi rolls and creative set dinners. Rolls are a bit on the skinny side but all are seasoned well. Sushi was fresh and the service was good here. Small restaurant so expect to have a wait when it gets busy during peak hours. I don't recall them having a happy hour menu. New sushi spot in Folsom. They have a signature peanut sauce so I tried a roll with that. I tried the 007. Soooo delicious! The flavors were perfect combo and the peanut sauce is not a heavy peanut flavor. The prices are reasonable. I also ordered the Hot Tuna maki. A twist on the regular spicy tuna because the cucumber is chopped tiny and mixed in with the tuna. It was amazing! Service was great and overall recommend. read more

I don't understand this place having anything over 2 stars. This was the worst sushi I ever had. The rice was soggy, the sauces were really strange, the spicey tuna was neon pink (almost like fish bait), the presenation was horrible, and etc. When the first roll came out, we immediately said "this doesn't look good". I am mad at myself for not stopping everything at that point, sending it back, and just leaving. Each of the other two rolls we ordered looked increasingly worse. The sushi was tasty, the staff were very friendly, and when we were there it was slow so we got to enjoy a pretty private dinner. Richard is the best and most friendly chef and he aims to please his customers. If you liked Samurai Sushi on Folsom Blvd, you will LOVE this spot. I was excited to try this new sushi place in Folsom. Food - The taste and quality of fish was good. There were a number of rolls on the menu that had peanut sauce which was very unique. Affordability - Prices of the rolls are really reasonable considering the going rate of sushi in Folsom as well as the amount you receive Ambiance - It was a little too warm in the restaurant for me. It was a sunny day outside so both the front and side doors were open. One TV was on and the other TV was off. It's a small restaurant so big groups may be an issue. Speed - Here is where the 3 stars comes into play. I know the place is new and so there are things to iron out but we had to wait a while for the server to take our order after we got seated. My youngest kid and I ordered our rolls but my other child didn't know what she wanted so we asked the server to come back and take her order. We got the first two rolls fairly quickly but the third roll that was ordered later took a very long time to get. And then we had to wait a long time to get the check. We were there for a little more than an hour. There was a party of three behind us that got seated after we did but was able to get served and checked out before us. It looks like they were busy with takeout orders so I'll give them that. It just seemed to be a bit disorganized. Accuracy - All of the rolls we ordered for dine-in were accurate. We ordered a roll for take out, the Twister with no sauce. Unfortunately we got home and there was sauce all over the roll. Courtesy - Staff and chef seemed nice.
