I saw this place pop up in the hot and new restaurants and after seeing all the rave reviews I knew I had to give it a try. I decided to get takeout, as at the time my son was sick. I was a little irritated at first because my order took a while to be ready, but all that followed, they'd more than redeemed themselves. The young man who took my order was incredibly friendly and even brought my order out to my car so I wouldn't have to bring my baby inside. I got three rolls for under $40 which is unheard of these days! And then when I got home to try the rolls, they were SO fresh and delicious! I'd have to agree with those who have said this is the best sushi spot in Folsom! I cant wait to dine in for my next visit! Well done sushi Masters!! read more

Yesterday (7/18/2025), my wife and I went out for a date night here at Master Chef. I chose this place because we both love sushi and we love to support hole in the wall, mom & pop shop's & restaurants. I checked the reviews and it seemed like it was a newer restaurant still finding its footing. I decided we should stop by and give it a try. When we first walked in, the Sushi chef didn't really acknowledge us, which was fine we figured he was busy, but he could at least let his servers know they have guest walking in. A server eventually came out from the back and sat us. She was helpful towards us, we had no issues with her. Shout out to the other server as well, he was helpful. The food was not what we expected. We ordered 3 hand rolls, pepper fin, and a sushi role. The 3 hand rolls (Zig Zac, Salmon Skin, & Unagi roll) were probably the most disappointing. It just did not taste fresh, and the salmon skin roll was not crispy & tasted old. The pepper fin and fish on the sushi roll (Patrick special roll) did not taste fresh. It tasted as if it were frozen and refrozen & left out too long. Near the end of dinner, when we were waiting for our check, the Sushi Chef (I'm guessing his name is Richard) asked my wife if the food was good. She said yes. Then he asked her if I was her brother, and she said "uh no. Thats my husband". He kept saying very loudly & obnoxiously "thats your brother thats your brother" like a child while my wife and I looked at each other dumbfounded. He then proceeded to make a joke about back to the future & me being her brother (we didn't really understood his joke). We both were so confused and we just ignored him. It wasn't worth entertaining an old obnoxious chef. It was getting so awkward to the point that even the family sitting at the sushi bar was just dumbfounded. It was definitely a cringe moment. We finally got our check, paid, and left. If it weren't for the two helpful servers, I would rated this place 1 star. Even if the Sushi chef was not being an awkward obnoxious creep, the food was pretty bad and I would still rated 1 star. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place is not sanitary. We witnessed the sushi chef using his bare hands to handle raw fish then cooked food without washing his hands. He handled dishes, drinks, plates and returned to making sushi without cleaning his hands. The actual food was not visually appealing nor tasty in anyway. It seemed to have a chemical smell/taste like formaldehyde (?). The fish was frozen or preserved and had patches that were not fully thawed. We ate a few bites and left. In spite of our caution, I became physically ill an hour after eating here and into the next day. Do not recommend. Avoid. read more

Delicious. Great prices. Great staff. The maguro sashimi was cut thick and large - so tasty. Richard explained he cuts up whole tuna, not just from prepared cuts. We heard that head sushi chef Richard, of closed Samurai Sushi, just opened MASTER SUSHI and brought Carlos with him. So we definitely wanted to check it out. The sushi at MASTER SUSHI is spectacular! Richard had personally created many of the sauces at Samurai himself so they are featured at Master Sushi and you will recognize some of the rolls. The prices are very low right now to bring in new customers. The restaurant is small, but Richard and Carlos are so friendly and this is the best sushi to be found in the entire Sacramento and suburbs area!!!! I would give it more stars if I could! read more
