We heard that the chef has moved here from Samurai Sushi. The chef has over 30 years of making sushi, and he has been very successful (based on people's talk in town's facebook group). We came to try and got mind blown away. This place is the best bang for your buck! The portion size is so satisfying, and the taste wins all the other stores in town if not most in North California. The menu has enough items for us to keep coming back without getting bored. I love this place so much, so I have to share immediately while still sitting at their table! read more

Restaurant was very nice, small but loud :'(. Service was very nice but slow. It took about 30ish minuets to get served 2 rolls total. :-(Taste was okay, I have had better but not bad. Overall a 2.8/5 rating a 2sta thank you. :3 read more

This is my favorite sushi spot in the Folsom area! The food is amazing and well-priced. I also appreciate the customer service here too, everyone is attentive and kind. Many sushi restaurants have come and gone at this location, but this one that should stay! Folsom, support the great locally owned businesses, or they will perish. If you love sushi and you don't want to drive very far, you're welcome! Thank you Master Sushi. read more

Master Sushi - Gyoza! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Folsom, California

The lunch specials are very well priced and you get a good portion. I like that they allow me to substitute soy wrap instead of seaweed (for a small up-charge). The chef, who I think is the owner is always very pleasant and seems genuinely happy that we are there. Always eager to tell us about upcoming deals. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating to our lunch group. read more

Solid value, good food and service, glad to have another great option for sushi in Folsom.

Hands down, one of the best sushi experiences I've had in Sacramento. The fish quality was absolutely top-notch--melt-in-your-mouth tuna, buttery salmon, fresh yellowtail, and perfectly tender unagi. Every piece tasted incredibly fresh and expertly prepared. If you're a sushi lover who appreciates premium cuts and precision, this place is a must-visit. read more

Food is delicious, Customer service is excellent. Very friendly environment. I would recommend it and I would come back again.

Regarding the comment by Peter G. I've been going to Richard's Master Sushi since the day that it opened on March 13 and I have yet to find any fish that described by Peter G. I mostly eat sashimi which is hard to mask the quality of the fish. read more

Just tried master sushi for the first time and it exceeded expectations. The rolls were fresh and the sauces flavorful and unique. You can tell each roll is crafted carefully and thoughtfully. Chef Richard is friendly and welcoming. Must try if you haven't been! Will definitely be returning soon. I was sad to see Suishin go, but am happy to have this new sushi spot in its place! read more

excellent sushi. The service was really good and the food was delicious. Will definitely come back.

I saw this place pop up in the hot and new restaurants and after seeing all the rave reviews I knew I had to give it a try. I decided to get takeout, as at the time my son was sick. I was a little irritated at first because my order took a while to be ready, but all that followed, they'd more than redeemed themselves. The young man who took my order was incredibly friendly and even brought my order out to my car so I wouldn't have to bring my baby inside. I got three rolls for under $40 which is unheard of these days! And then when I got home to try the rolls, they were SO fresh and delicious! I'd have to agree with those who have said this is the best sushi spot in Folsom! I cant wait to dine in for my next visit! Well done sushi Masters!! read more

Master Sushi - Sushi Bars Near Me - Folsom, California

Yesterday (7/18/2025), my wife and I went out for a date night here at Master Chef. I chose this place because we both love sushi and we love to support hole in the wall, mom & pop shop's & restaurants. I checked the reviews and it seemed like it was a newer restaurant still finding its footing. I decided we should stop by and give it a try. When we first walked in, the Sushi chef didn't really acknowledge us, which was fine we figured he was busy, but he could at least let his servers know they have guest walking in. A server eventually came out from the back and sat us. She was helpful towards us, we had no issues with her. Shout out to the other server as well, he was helpful. The food was not what we expected. We ordered 3 hand rolls, pepper fin, and a sushi role. The 3 hand rolls (Zig Zac, Salmon Skin, & Unagi roll) were probably the most disappointing. It just did not taste fresh, and the salmon skin roll was not crispy & tasted old. The pepper fin and fish on the sushi roll (Patrick special roll) did not taste fresh. It tasted as if it were frozen and refrozen & left out too long. Near the end of dinner, when we were waiting for our check, the Sushi Chef (I'm guessing his name is Richard) asked my wife if the food was good. She said yes. Then he asked her if I was her brother, and she said "uh no. Thats my husband". He kept saying very loudly & obnoxiously "thats your brother thats your brother" like a child while my wife and I looked at each other dumbfounded. He then proceeded to make a joke about back to the future & me being her brother (we didn't really understood his joke). We both were so confused and we just ignored him. It wasn't worth entertaining an old obnoxious chef. It was getting so awkward to the point that even the family sitting at the sushi bar was just dumbfounded. It was definitely a cringe moment. We finally got our check, paid, and left. If it weren't for the two helpful servers, I would rated this place 1 star. Even if the Sushi chef was not being an awkward obnoxious creep, the food was pretty bad and I would still rated 1 star. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

They have personalized and quick service. We found a number of unique items on the menu which were amazing. Highly recommend.

Food is pretty good and price is reasonable. Selections are very similar to the old Samurai. As the other review mentioned, dishes are a little slow to come out, could be improved read more

Food was bland. Cant rate service since I had it delivered as well as the ambiance. Meat was over cooked when it came to the salmon. Skip it and go to Mikunis for the same price. Over priced and underwhelming. read more

Great food and great service. Will definitely come back next time I'm in town. All the rollls were fantastic

This place is not sanitary. We witnessed the sushi chef using his bare hands to handle raw fish then cooked food without washing his hands. He handled dishes, drinks, plates and returned to making sushi without cleaning his hands. The actual food was not visually appealing nor tasty in anyway. It seemed to have a chemical smell/taste like formaldehyde (?). The fish was frozen or preserved and had patches that were not fully thawed. We ate a few bites and left. In spite of our caution, I became physically ill an hour after eating here and into the next day. Do not recommend. Avoid. read more

Great service and fresh, delicious food! Made a special vegetarian dish for me! Chef was friendly and went out of his way to make us comfortable. Definitely recommend this new place. read more

Delicious. Great prices. Great staff. The maguro sashimi was cut thick and large - so tasty. Richard explained he cuts up whole tuna, not just from prepared cuts. I haven't had such good tuna in a long time. And the same with the salmon sashimi. Thick pieces, oily, tasty. Titanic & Spicy Snow rolls had lots of tastes and textures making a very satisfying lunch. Lots of parking. Close to home. I'll be back for lunch next Friday! read more

The owner is a long time sushi chef from Samurai sushi. He was the star there. His new restaurant is the best. All the dishes we love and Richard! Try it. You'll like it! read more

We heard that head sushi chef Richard, of closed Samurai Sushi, just opened MASTER SUSHI and brought Carlos with him. So we definitely wanted to check it out. The sushi at MASTER SUSHI is spectacular! Richard had personally created many of the sauces at Samurai himself so they are featured at Master Sushi and you will recognize some of the rolls. The prices are very low right now to bring in new customers. The restaurant is small, but Richard and Carlos are so friendly and this is the best sushi to be found in the entire Sacramento and suburbs area!!!! I would give it more stars if I could! read more

I eat a lot of sushi (in fact I have sushi up to 4-5 times a week lol) and have tried many places within the Sacramento area, but theres nothing like this menu at Master Sushi! There is something for everyone, even for people who don't eat sushi and the quality is amazing!! Chef Richard and his team have worked very hard to bring Master Sushi to Folsom and it shows! 1000/10 recommend!!!! read more
