I recently had a Yelp event in the area and we decided to pregame at a happy hour in the area…read more After looking around a bit online for a spot,we chose the House of Mules on Folsom Blvd. This spot is not located too far off highway 50 and shares a lot with many businesses,so plenty of parking spots to be had. The happy hour at this spot is pretty great with all draft beers priced at $5-While also having Jameson-Tito's and Cazadores priced also at $5 There are many discounted foods available during happy hour, prices anywhere from $5 to $12. These foods range from pretzels to BBQ meatballs, Fish tacos and pizza. We tried the BBQ meatballs ($6.00) and they were extremely tasty. We also tried some beer from Urban Roots and a few Jameson shots-they both hit the spot. The service at this bar was great, the waitress was super friendly and checked on us multiple times. This place is a typical sports bar scene, with TVs in every direction and many sports to choose from for your viewing pleasure. The waitress told us that on weekends they do show UFC events live, which is always an added bonus. Overall I think this is a stellar sports bar and a great addition to the Folsom area providing an incredible spot to hangout with friends and root for whatever team makes you happy. PS-This bar also features "All-Day" Happy Hour on Sundays-so I can just imagine how incredible that must be on football Sundays in the fall-See Ya Soon.

Meatballs were fresh, juicy and flavorful. Ipa was cold, tasty and love the Happy hour value. Service was quick, friendly and on point. I went in today and was so happy to see familiar face of Jordan. He was our bartender and our server I ordered the same exact thing I ordered last time aguachiles and the artichoke Crostini and a fried chicken sandwich can I just say the comeback was so great the. Aguachiles were sooo good. The shrimp size proportion was way larger. The taste was still amazing and everything was perfect. Also, I noticed ithere was less balsamic reduction on the artichoke Crostinis it was also perfect as it always was the fried chicken sandwich was great again we did order the side of buffalo sauce, which completed it ! I ordered the s'mores Diablo once again only to be completely satisfied with the drink itself. I did have him add a little bit of espresso since I didn't have coffee yet and it was perfect if your an espresso martini type of girl or guy this is THEE ONE !. This was so good. I suggest adding the graham cracker rim to this drink. 100/100 also, definitely finished my lunch with one of my favorites the filthy martini which has a blue cheese infused vodka super delightful . Love that the staff has control to the air condition as always the ambience is amazing in here and it started off extremely freezing thanks to Jordan. He did go ahead and lower that for us which made our time there way more comfortable and not as rushed. Keep up the good work !!! Did see the owner in there putting together fresh flower arrangements seemed very focused and meticulous on that . Wish he would have talked or made conversation with patron's . a lil goes along way

The hostess greeted us with a question. "You ladies came to drink or to eat?" She asked. We came for both! We sat outside near the entrance way. It was a nice shaded corner and it gave some privacy from the plants that were decorated along the entry way. The menu was small and interesting. First hour is happy hour $2 off drinks and $10 off food. I'd say this place is perfect for drinks and apps. There isn't a big variety for entree's. But those appetizers were the show! Our Order: grilled riblets, garnish shrimp pieces, watermelon tomato salad beef sliders French fries and the blackened salmon. The ribs-10/10 fall off the bone seasoned well with some kind of green sauce at the bottom. The garlic shrimp- 10/10 in chili garlic oil with focaccia bread. Watermelon tomato salad- 10/10 feta cheese always takes the show! Beef sliders- 10/10 us just being greedy but so good. French fries- 9/10 decent portion! Blackened salmon- 8/10 compared to how flavorful the appetizer's were it made the salmon lack in taste. Something was missing but it was still good loved the coconut milk flavor in the jasmine rice! All in all 10 out of 10 highly recommend!

A Second Chance That Fell Short - we gave this restaurant a…read moresecond chance tonight after an unfortunate experience here about a year ago that left me with food poisoning. I genuinely wanted to believe that was an isolated incident and was willing to give the restaurant another opportunity. Unfortunately, the food was again a major disappointment. We ordered a burger medium, but it arrived essentially raw. After the previous experience, that was particularly concerning, and I simply pushed the food aside. I also received fries that I never ordered and was charged for them. They appeared to be the remnants of the evening--mostly small, overcooked, and crusty--which only added to the frustration. The service compounded the experience. We sat at the bar, as we had previously, and it took roughly 5-7 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. When the food arrived, we had to ask for napkins and silverware. Then, when we were ready to leave, it took another 10 minutes or so to get anyone's attention. I ultimately had to holler to people standing about five feet away just to get someone to close us out. Everyone was pleasant enough on the surface, but hospitality is about more than being friendly. It's about awareness, attention to detail, and making guests feel genuinely looked after. Maybe the mistake is sitting at the bar. I'm willing to consider that. But after giving this place a second opportunity following a very bad first experience, I expected the details to matter a little more. A restaurant earns loyalty through consistency--not just when everything goes perfectly, but especially when it doesn't. Unfortunately, this second visit left me with the same feeling as the first: disappointed, and still without a compelling reason to come back for a third try.

The chicken isn't a huge juicy chicken breast, just so you are aware. It's the thin, flattened kind. Perfectly fine with me since I didn't want something overly heavy. It comes with housemade chips. I'm really impressed by their salads though. I know, so simple, but most restaurants provide boring iceberg lettuce with nothing really exciting. Here though they provide red onion, cucumbers, slivered almonds, tomatoes, etc. I also love their house vingerette. I think next time I'll order a bigger one and add chicken :-) My mom enjoyed her carnitas street tacos. The crack pie is to die for! My Mom was so impressed, she ordered a 2nd one to go haha. It does take awhile to get your food, just a FYI. But worth it.

It was busy, but our server Courtney was fabulous! She had several tables inside and on the patio, but was friendly and attentive to all of them. Our food was delicious. I had a pastrami sandwich on rye. My husband got a pizza & a bowl of clam chowder. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We shared a gelato for dessert. There's a full bar and a large selection of beers & ciders as well. Several parties came in that I could tell were regulars. The vibe was relaxed and friendly. We will definitely be back! Thanks again to Courtney for the outstanding service on a busy night.

So when I tell you that The Locked Barrel in Sacramento is one of the most impressive whiskey bars I have ever experienced, understand that I do not say that lightly. I have traveled extensively, including throughout Scotland - and I have never seen a Macallan flight like the one they offer here. That alone would make the visit worthwhile. But then you look around and see what appears to be 30 feet of whiskey bottles lining the place. Ye gods and little fishes. I am a 6'6 Scottish Highlander, and I look UP to 30 feet of whiskey bottles. That is impressive. There is history here. There is character. And there is whiskey. Period. Serious whiskey. And then there is Ricky, bartender extraordinaire--knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly someone who understands that serving whiskey is more than pouring a drink ... it is an institution. I do not get to Sacramento often - but finding the Locked Barrel was one of the unexpected highlights of my trip. The Locked Barrel is one of the most remarkable whiskey experiences I have encountered anywhere--including Scotland.
