We were a party of two adults and two children. We ordered several appetizers and chose the Kobe beef option. The first thing brought to the table was two small plates of raw beef, each with roughly 6-8 rolled slices. We then waited about 10 minutes for the vegetables, followed by another 10 minutes before the broth finally arrived. It seemed very odd to serve raw meat well before the broth needed to cook it. Rice came shortly afterward, but service remained very slow. It took another 10-15 minutes before anyone came back around so we could request more meat. When the next order arrived, it was one plate with maybe 15 slices to share between four people. We immediately asked to place another order. At that point, our waitress appeared visibly annoyed. She walked over to a coworker and began speaking animatedly in another language. Of course, we have no idea what was being discussed, but given the timing, it made us uncomfortable and feel as though we had done something wrong simply by requesting additional meat. After that, she largely stopped servicing our table and two other employees began helping us instead. Service throughout the remainder of the meal was very inconsistent. All four of our waters were empty at one point, and we rarely felt checked on. The food itself was okay. The Kobe beef was good quality, but the rice was dry and hard. The biggest issue was how difficult it felt to place additional orders at an all-you-can-eat Shabu restaurant. Our receipt showed that our family of four ordered 11 plates total, so we were certainly not ordering an unreasonable amount. For approximately $150, the overall experience simply was not worth it. There are much better Shabu restaurants in the Sacramento area. They may be a longer drive for us, but after this experience, the extra drive is absolutely worth it.
