Yay! I finally found some good ol' Chinese American food! Many places I've been to in RC don't have that wok hei flavor, and it made me quite sad since I used to live in South Sac--where all the bomb Asian food is (at least for Sacramento). SoCal and the Bay Area are where it's at for Asian food... and Vancouver!! Okay, sorry, I'm rambling now. Anyways, I'm glad I ventured a little farther out to Folsom to grab some delicious food. Their orange chicken is super flavorful, and I loved that they used real oranges. The Kung Pao chicken is amazing--they include a variety of veggies and squash, which I loved. The beef chow mein was on point as well. The only reason for the 4 stars is that the chow mein was a little too soft (though the flavor was there), and the price felt a bit steep for the portion size. Three orders for $60--eeep! I miss the good ol' days when a whole plate was filled to the rim and overflowing from the to-go box for $12-$15, but it is what it is. Anyways, if you've got the dough, I'd spend it here. What a great find for Chinese Cuisine in Folsom! Really nice atmosphere with the relaxing blues/jazz music and the lighting was nice as well. Super comfortable seating and plenty of it. I would consider Folsom Palace a fancier establishment from their menu to their service. They even have black toilets!! The Cashew Chicken was made with white meat, the Thai Basil Beef was very tender and flavorful. The Chicken Chow Mein was also delicious! Price point was a bit high but all things considered, I believe it's worth it. The service was friendly and nice! Definitely repeating visits in the future. I hate to say this but it appears the crew working there on sunday evening is a bunch of kids or young adults that dont care about foodborne illiness(or perhaps dont know anything about them.) or their customers they were too invested in their conversations in the kitchen and looking at the guests not actually serving them and laughing about who knows what after im all for having fun while you work but this was just very unprofessional, took far too long to get our food for dine in which is whatever no biggie if they had phone orders or door dashes they cant help that so we brushed it off however the bath gel in the bathroom rather than actual hand soap makes me wonder about the handwashing and cleanliness in the kitchen is like, we did get sick it was only for a small window of time but nonetheless wasn't a pleasant experience. I dont typically like to do this but we've been there many times before and never have had this experience i only want to make this be known for the higher ups to make a change because whatever we got was brutal for that small window of time it affected us and there were elderly people dining in and I hope they didn't suffer the same fate yesterday night like we did.. the food did taste good we were really happy once we got it just wish we didnt get sick from it. They have a nice outdoor area for when the weather gets nice. It's on Riley in the same shopping area as Wendy's. Easy to find and easy to park. Everything I have ordered has been delicious, hot and fresh. They use high quality chicken in the chicken dishes. My favorite is the pot stickers! YUM. Very pleasant atmosphere, good service. Unfortunately the food didn't match the atmosphere nor service. I had the General Tsao's chicken with fried rice and my friend had Lemon chicken. We ordered the Crab Puffs for appetizer. The crab puffs were delivered within a couple minutes and were fresh and hot, however, the cream cheese and what teeny bit of surimi in it was so thin it leaked out everywhere, your were left with a flour-forward egg roll wrapper. The dish looked nice but the fried rice was white, greasy and crunchy with a couple peas, carrots and few pieces of corn added. The chickens flavor was nice and good spice but over cooked and tough to cut or chew. The 1 piece of cauliflower was nice and crisp, but the 3 pieces of broccoli were not. The lemon chicken had good flavor, but again, over cooked so dry and hard to chew. We did arrive at the tail end of lunch, so that might have just been following a busy lunch and it may be better than this. I asked why we didn't get served soup, he then went back and brought some fresh, hot egg flower soup. All in all, since service was great, and the restaurant appeared very clean, we'll give it another try, maybe it was just an off-time and hoping the food is better another time. read more

They tasted like your average walnut prawns. + Chicken Chow Mein: the family attacked this dish so I'm assuming it was delish. I don't think this cuisine is purely Chinese. I'm always iffy on trying Chinese places; the blessing/curse of being born/raised in Asia as it doesn't get more authentic than that. Folsom Palace's menu contains Cantonese, Hong Kong, Korean, Thai, North Chinese, and Singaporean inspired dishes. Staff here are super kind and gracious. The dining room is clean and comfortable. The food is cooked without MSG which is a plus for me. However MSG is in most Asan cooking sauces and most Chinese restaurants use it readily on their dishes as a flavor enhancer. But not Folsom Palace. Yay! I ordered take out. I had the fried prawns. It was panko crusted and had an airy crisp crunch. Moist prawns. The dish came with a container of sweet sauce. The steamed bass was served Cantonese style topped with wok cooked hot oil, soy sauce, and slices of ginger and green onions. The chicken fried rice was great. The rice was fluffy and light. The chicken pieces were light meat. It had corn niblets, peas, and carrots. For folks that are use to Chinese restaurants in more ethnically diverse communities with a multitude of choices, this restaurant in Folsom may pale in menu options. Decided to hit up Sacramento during the long Prez Day weekend and was feeling some Peking Duck. Haven't had any in Reno or Sparks so looked up a location and this was close enough to where we were at so why not. Came in around 2 pm and it wasn't packed so that's a good thing. Saw the menu and ordered Calamari for our appetizer and a half peking duck for our meal. The service here was on point, always had our glasses full and always checking on us. Now for the food... Calamari- The taste was very good and didn't even come with any dipping sauces or lemon. Thought it was odd but it was overly salty. I think they already added the lemon themselves but I needed more to cut that salt taste. Half order peking duck- I wanted to like it but it had bones! Call me Boosie but when you order peking duck its suppose to be boneless so you can eat it with the the onions, plum sauce and the bun. I tried to take most of the bone out and almost chipped my tooth because I missed a little piece. Total fail on my part lol. Also they claim to use super low sodium in all their dishes and less oil but I don't think thats true either. Won't be coming back here since there's a ton of restaurants to check out. read more

Found this gem in Folsom, after my daughter's soccer game. Family-owned with three generations running the front and back of the house. Small romantic ambiance, love the light jazz music. Service was very good and I wasn't expecting that with how good the food was. Food was prepared very clean. No excess oils. Had the best chicken fried rice and Singapore noodles.
