I've been very happy with my former mechanic in Pasadena but with so many meetings in Monrovia lately I decided to have some work done on my car right up the street in Old Town Monrovia. Having met Yo and his wife, I knew they were the type of mom and pop operation that I would like to support. At homers they take care of everything from basic maintenance, oil changes, transmissions, tires, brakes, air conditioning service, And suspension just to name a few. What I found interesting is they also take care of restoring classic cars and this is something Yo does with a passion from the comfort of his home. I had some upholstery work done on my Honda for a reasonable price and very quickly. Since I am very busy, it was nice to have my vehicle finished in one day and to have a notification via text message. "your Honda is ready". My car had a nail in the tire and it wasn't until I took it to the dealership that I found out. The dealership said, of course, the only thing they can offer for me is to change the tire (they're run flats so they're pretty pricey). I'm leasing my car and turn it in in about 8mo which is what I told the guy and I also purchased lease insurance for the car which covers things like tire expenses when you turn the car in. Sooo... I decided to look for a random auto shop in the area to see if they could help. And boy am I glad that I stumbled on Homer's. A young man patched my tire up for $20. He preferred cash over credit card but I didn't have any cash on me so he said "you can bring it by whenever. any time today or tomorrow" What trusting, laid back people. On more than one occasion this shop has done us wrong. They use to be great. I do not know what happened. Great location. I think it is the current owner overworking the mechanics. They did great replacing the carburetor in my 82 truck. But did horrible on my alignment on my 03 truck. It was so bad that I had to replace tires early. After multiple attempts to fix I went to another shop for resolve. My wife brought her car in for a oil change. On the next change we discovered they over torqued the plug to 80 pounds. Usually it is suppose to be 27 pounds. Really sketchy how they are now doing such careless work. Save you time and money and look elsewhere. read more

If you are looking for a mechanic in the San Gabriel Valley, look no further. I grew up in Arcadia and knew Yo and his shop since before I could drive (20+ years ago). Our family has been taking our cars to Yo at Homer's Auto Service since the early 90's, at least. I bring every new car (used, but new to me) here to be checked out. If my car is acting up, I know that this is the place to come to not only find out what is wrong but be confident it will be repaired correctly and quickly. What may be even more convincing is the fact that I now live in San Fernando Valley near Santa Clarita and STILL take my cars to Homer's Auto Service. I have had cars towed over 30 miles to make sure they come here. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and experienced. Pricing is very competitive and fair. If they can't help you (unlikely), they will know someone who can. I cannot recommend another location more highly (I have lived in several states, so I have had experience with other mechanics - none compare). Come here for all your automotive needs!!! I should probably wait for my bill to review this but I'm so happy with this shop after the horrible day I've had that they get 5 stars for service alone. My car died on my way to get tires and I found out I needed a new battery. The shop I drove to in Azusa didn't have the tires or a battery. I drove all the way back where I came from in Monrovia and came to Homers figuring I could get the battery at least. They are staying late to help me out and got me a good price on tires from the shop next door. They weren't pushy and I didn't feel taken advantage of, which is rare being a stressed out female with not a ton of car knowledge. As long as my bill is reasonable I'm a happy camper read more

Usually, selecting an auto mechanic, a great auto mechanic, is often a challenge. Well, if you have found Homer's, you are fortunate, because they are great on many fronts. From the time you walk in and are greeted, to the service and even the bill. I can't forget the bill. When I went to Homer's, I brought my car in to have them check the transmission, or so I thought. The problem actually turned out to be an issue with the brakes. Great mechanics are also honest mechanics. To my surprise, when I went to pick up my car and Frank said, "I have news for you." Uh oh, I thought, I better sit down for this one. That's when Frank told me the good news and said that the transmission was fine. He gave me a bill for an air cabin filter, and, actually showed me the dirty filter that they replaced. Their service is the kind of service one should only expect from their auto mechanic. And oh, I forgot to mention, Frank tried to call me twice to tell me what they found before doing any work. Since I was tied up and could not receive the call, I could not speak to them until I arrived to pick up the car. I can't say enough about the folks at Homer's. Check them out for yourself. I was starting on a road trip and wanted to get a fuse changed in my dashboard cigarette lighter / power outlet (which I'd blown out trying to charge my laptop.) Homer's did the repair right on the spot and I was in and out in ten minutes. The price couldn't be beat, either. It was a real relief after I went to the Ford dealership first and they informed me that they wouldn't do the (10-minute) repair unless I scheduled an appointment for them to do a diagnostic first. Can't speak to other kinds of repairs, but for simple electrical issues this is a great place to go! Also, the birds in the waiting room are cool. read more

I've had 2 fantastic experiences at Homer's Auto. The first time I had problems with my front brakes, turned out that I not only needed front brakes but new front calipers as well. Yo and his team to great care of me, fixed my brakes, installed the new calipers, and at significant savings from the dealership I want to add. In addition, he cleaned my headlights, which were in severe need of cleaning, and he did it at no charge! Wow, talk about adding extra, and totally unexpected. This is my favorite auto service place. Yo and his team are exceptionally knowledgeable in cars. My mom's truck engine light came on recently and the truck would not start. Fortunately we were able to get it to Homer's where he and his team started working on it right away. Turns out it wasn't the engine that needed to be replaced but rather some tubes around it. What we thought was going to a 1000+ job ended up being something way less expensive. As a woman I feel that sometimes auto service centers take advantage of us because most of the time we really don't have knowledge about car issues, but I know that will never be the case with Homers.
