My car
Steven U.

Went up Cleghorn Ridgeon New Year's day and unfortunately my heater core hose broke. Was able to get down the mountain but my car was definitely overheating. I took to yelp to find a reputable garage to help with my repair. I first found Seiko's auto service since they specialized in Japanese cars. I called them but since my car was 1996 they were unable to do the repair but referred me to Ward's. I called to make and appointment to take her in. Brought her in Friday morning and was greeted by Lalo. He was extremely professional while I told him what happened. He began to diagnose the problem but wanted to take a closer look. I also shared other concerns and possible repairs I was thinking about. I left the car Friday morning and received a call Friday afternoon from Lalo about the car. They were extremely busy on Friday but was able to give me quotes on the possible repairs. Turned out to be a broken connection at the heater core. Lalo explained my options and since no repairs would be started til Monday I was able to leave the car there over the weekend at no charge. This also gave me time to think about my options. Monday morning, Lalo gave me a call to see what i wanted to get done. He explained my options again and answered all my questions. To replace the heater core would be about $1800 for parts and labor with at least a week of work. The alternative would be to bypass the heater hose for about $150 and done by end of day. Downside would be losing the heater option in my AC. Being an old car and taking into account all other expense i've had, I decided I can live without the heater, so I went with the bypass. Lalo called me around 2pm Monday saying I can pick up my car before 5pm. I was unable to finsih work in time and Lalo told me I can leave my car there and pick her up tomorrow. Again at no charge. Today I arrived around 445pm and Lalo greeted me and explain what was down and we went over the other repairs I mentioned. Held off on the other repairs since they weren't essential. Total cost was $189.63 for the bypass parts and labor. I'm glad I found Wards and will come back when needed!

Friendly staff, quick service. I came for a smog check and it was reasonably priced and done within half an hour or so.

Referred by my friend, Danny (owner) was able to do for my German car that my usual mechanic said "Oh no ... we don't touch that" He also quoted me a reasonable price. I didn't bother shopping around because one shop I came across before DC Auto quoted me nearly triple. I also learned a few things about newer cars and which engines are a headache to work on and which are not. Guess I'm not getting any more German cars. It's nice to find a mechanic who can do what others run away from, at a decent rate.

Within only 1 month my car developed significant engine oil and transmission fluid leaks. When I contacted Danny and asked him to address the problem, his response was essentially to "just keep adding oil." I found that completely unacceptable after having transmission oil and engine oil done. I asked him to work with me on a reasonable solution, but he refused to compromise and denied responsibility. I was also never provided a service receipt documenting the transmission oil and engine oil receiot. I expected a professional shop to stand behind its work and at least inspect a serious problem that developed shortly after the repair. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with DC Auto. I would not bring my vehicle back.

I had researched other shops on Yelp and discussed the possible cost and problem with a number of mechanics via the Yelp messenger and had then decided to schedule an appointment with RTMotorworks. Esteban let me know they were super busy and that setting an appointment would be necessary. When I showed up with my car at the appointment, Richard was there. I showed him the other shop's paperwork and gave him the replacement parts. He asked me if I wanted him to just carry out the other shop's recommended action or if I would be open letting his team diagnose the issue. I see mechanics as doctors for cars and respect their expertise so I asked him to diagnose it and we can go from there. Later that day, he diagnosed that the problem was coming from the distributor and not the crankshaft position sensor. His team did the work for a decent price and with a very quick turnaround. I picked up my car the next day. What struck me the most about Richard was that he asked me a lot of questions about what happened when it broke down, how I use the car, how I treat and upkeep the car, and then he talked me through the nature of my specific mark, model, and year. Basically, he was very knowledgeable and invested in the issue. I recommend RTMotorworks and would come back again!

Easy to book, quick service, and fixed my problem! Everyone was also friendly at the shop. Would definitely come back for future needs.
