ok I went to this place a year ago and it was absolutely terrible with horrendous customer service and also expensive... HOWEVERRR I heard the place had switched owners ... so I wanted to check it out since I live so close by. I ADORED the placee...The women are sweet and friendly and I loved the fact that they pamper their customers so well :) The place looks 100 times better than before is clean, nice relaxing music, they serve tea/water/snacks, an array of colors. I just started coming here but it has definitely become my new spa resort! I get my nails toes and waxes here at a very affordable price. I have gone to multiple nail salons for anything from a manicure and pedicure to acrylic nails.. I had heard really good feedback and went to get a full set of acrylic nails. The women there were EXTREMELY nice. Even though the store was busy they still made me feel welcomed. They really took their time with my nails, and made sure that the nail length was a good length for me. I have gone for acrylic nails and most of the time they put either too much acrylic powder or too little, which would lead to them breaking. My nails feel good and strong. Great people but specialized service can cause confusion when waiting to be helped. I have been going to holly nails for years and I love it!! I think people get frustrated sometimes because they have to wait for specialized service but there is good reason for the wait. The majority of the customers get mani/pedis which any employee can do, always clean, safe and efficient. Not super relaxing but it's a nail salon not a spa so the in and out nature prevents the quiet zen atmosphere but they do have great massage chairs and give leg massages with pedicures which is a bonus especially for the price. I have never had any complaints and my gel pedicure has lasted 5 weeks before without chipping, peeling or dulling if I get my nails trimmed short. However, if you have artificial nails only 3 of the ladies do fills and one specializes. Jenny, the owner, does them but she thinks she is slow so she tries to let Lena do most of the artificial nails because she thinks she provides faster better quality but that means you have to wait for her. Abby who is super sweet also does artificial nails but she is part time and also does waxing which cuts into her nail time. Regardless, you can see how Jenny is juggling trying to make sure that each employee is being best used to get the fastest best quality service to customers. Anyway, hope that helps people understand why they may have to wait sometimes and why simple service (mani or pedi) seems to get served prior to fills or artificial sets. However, short of having an artificial nail tech who is just sitting there waiting for that specialized service customer to walk in (which means she is not making any money in the meantime) I don't think there is a better way to handle it and it seems to be the same structure at any nail salon. Bottom line, I am a long term customer and the quality of service has always been wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. read more

This place is very disappointing. The work is sloppy and careless. They don't make your nails even lengths or straight. They interrupt working with you to take care of other clients. They complain if they don't think your tip is sufficient. Basically they don't care and are rude. The work is perfunctory and uncaring. There are much better choices elsewhere read more

I LOVE this place! It is so nice and quiet with beautiful view for who need a good time for relaxing. It is under new management and all equipment and spa chairs are so luxury. It has a new name "Holly Nail Spa." All the technicians who are working at the spa so wonderful and helpful. They do very good jobs with skills on my nails, waxing, and massage. Their manicure tools and equipment are senitized after each and every use. It is safe for everyone! It is very reasonable prices for high demanded customers. I decided to give this place a try because my friend in Mill Valley recommended it to me. Also driving my daughter to school, the store caught my eye because it said "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT" so I thought to myself: why not give it a try? When I walked in, the ladies were very nice and welcomming. They had a good selection of colors to choose from. This place was very clean and elegant with new spa chairs and a lot of cute artwork on the walls. I got a spa manicure and spa pedicure, The lady doing my nails was very friendy compared to all the other nail shops I went to. This place is pretty close to my house so I thought it will be convenient to run there for mani/pedi. I was suggested to called every time before shoving up, and every time i was there they asked me yo wait another 15-30 min. So what was the point to call a head? I had my gel nails done by Tam. She is good. But she is the only one who is good at that place. I had other ladies working on my hands and feet. The job was done sloppy. And the other thing is that if someone from the regular customers walks in while they are working with you, they will leave you and go to take care of the regular customer. And you will wait until some other lady will be available to finish the job for you. Usually it's someone who is really bad and doesn't have regular customers. I've being going there for 6 month and they still didn't think I'm regular customer. It makes me feel like they do not appreciate me because i haven't spend there enough money yet. Yesterday I went into Holly Nails for a gel manicure. The color I wanted they couldn't find so I went with the classic French. After less then 24 hours I had four chipped nails. I usually get two weeks from a set of gels so I went back in tonight to see if they could touch up the chipped nails. They gave me major attitude and insinuated that I wasn't there the day before. I wanted to leave but I wanted my nails fixed. The women there so easily could have been kind and helpful but was nasty and accusatory. I will never go there again! read more

I created a yelp account just to write a review about this salon. It was the worst experience and I do NOT recommend ever coming here. I had a 4:30 appt and they didn't get us in until 5:10. My sister got a mani pedi and they were done in 15 minutes. I got a full set and after they were done I cried because they looked that bad and they are now stuck on me for weeks. The nails are giant and crooked and it's horrible. THEN they tried to charge us the adult prices for my 10 year old sisters kid mani pedi when they didn't cut her cuticles scrub her feet etc.. This place overbooks and takes too many customers. Because of that, they are very rushed and don't give you the service you should get for the price they charge. Today I had a pedicure and it lasted 20 minutes. The technician was rushing through so she could get to the next customer as soon as she could. My foot/leg massage lasted all of 1 minute 20 seconds...for both legs!!! I used the stop watch on my phone as a timer. Today was the last time I will be having a Pedi here. I've been to Holly Nails 4 times and have always been very satisfied. I don't have to watch over them because they do a great job and then I am free to enjoy the great massage chair. It's also very convenient for me that they have great Sunday hours and good parking. read more

Read the reviews of this place and thought I would give it a try and am very disappointed with my pedicure. The women are very nice but I did not see them sanitize the basins that you soak your feet in, there was almost no foot scrub and my newly painted toes look like I did them myself. Received a mani pedi, the whole thing was rushed. The pedicure probably lasted 10 minutes, the lotion massage was mediocre which I believe she only took two minutes to do. I did a clear coat on my nails, which have already chipped after one day. Usually a clear coat lasts for weeks. The only positive thing was the massage chairs. read more

I just had a great experience at Holly Nails. I came with two friends for a noon appointment, three chairs were ready, we all were seated promptly and got great mani-pedis. The atmosphere was relaxing and serene, but still fun - some of the salons in Mill Valley can be a mad house - crowded and disorganized - NOT relaxing. No so here. The work was gentle and impeccable, and the owner was super nice, polite and professional. I loved that they had a display of the new Opi "Germany Collection" - so I could get the latest shades, which are gorgeous! I was skeptical going because I saw the poor Yelp reviews, but noticed that all bad reviews are YEARS old. 2008? Ancient history. Give this place a try. This palce is ok. If you don't mind being in there for 2 hours for a regular mani/pedi! They were busy on a monday, did my pedi then moved me to a mani table so that the next customer could sit in the spa chair then they forgot about me for 25 min and helped the customer who came in after me. I accidently smudged a couple toe nails and i complained about the paint job on a different toe and the nail tech was so rude about it. Obviously they were busy and she was flustered but she was out of line. During my time there I had already decided i wasn't going to tip because of the poor service, bad paint job and the long appointment. I came in with my mom and as we paid my mom threw down $3 tip and the tech asked for another dollar because, she said, there were 2 ladies that worked on her! First off, i have never been asked for a tip, a tip is given when necessary, second a customer should tip whatever they feel is appropriate, and third, I didn't ask for 2 people to work on me! I would never go back there. The nail shop in the Safeway shopping center on Camino Alto is so much better, friendlier and you get a hot stone leg massage with a pedi. They are closed on Mondays or I would have gone there. read more

I've been going here for several months. Today I went in for a pedicure and a gel manicure. They were able to take me in about five minutes, so everything was going smoothly. My pedicure was about half done, and my fingernails had been clipped, but not filed, and they were soaking. A group of three came in, without an appointment, and asked about mani pedis. They were seated quickly. The person working on my fingernails stopped, took away the soaking bowl , and told me someone else would finish me later, and moved on to the new arrivals. My pedi was haphazardly finished (no callus work, no cuticle work, no massage), and I was quickly moved out of my chair. I waited for a few moments for my toes to dry, and since there was no one available to finish my manicure, I told them I had to leave. The people who arrived 20 minutes after me would have been finished well before I would have been. I'm a regular, and I guess they thought I would put up with it. I got a full set done and it was the fastest and most rushed job I have ever gotten in my life.(BTW A WOMAN CAME WELL AFTER ME FOR A PEDI AND HER PEDI WAS DONE IN THE SPEED OF LIGHT I WOULDNT HAVE PAID THEM A DIME) My thumbs were uneven and i told her and she act like she had an attitude . She says "No. Yo nail beauiful" I told her yes they are I just would like a little more acrylic. She says "no no too thick too thick" I tell her I understand and thats the look im going for I explained to her nails are about preference with each individual people want what they want by this time I was placed in a chair and the tech from the day before came to thicken and reshape my nails as soon as I sit down the owner says "you want thicka you go east bay they do thicka fa you" I was LIVID. I SPEND 50 HERE ON A FULL SET AND NOW YOURE TELLING ME TO GO ELSEWHERE? so I let her finish my nails but I will NOT be back I would much rather go to "eastbay" I understand in Marin County most women do want the natural look but really nail lady??? You went to school for this profession and thats what you come up with?? My cuticles were so dry and the polish job was messy at the cuticles. Highly upset at this whole establishment IN CONCLUSION DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME NOT A GOOD RELAXING ATMOSPHERE NO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE dont get me wrong its a nice place really clean and looks updated they have an array of colors and gel polishes but thats tge deceiving part.
