I've made appointments and walked in during the week and there's rarely a long wait. Everyone is nice. The whole salon is pleasant to be in (decor and music is great) and they have an army of workers. I like regular gel on my nails, but they offer it all. I'm pretty seasoned at this by now and what I've noticed is that I leave with great looking manicures, but every time I go back, my nails are thinner and weaker. I'm not sure if I'll keep going here because they seem to value time over the health of my nails. Every tech is quick to use the chemical remover that will sting/ burn your skin if it touches you, and takes the gel right off like acid. To make things even faster they'll use the dremmel to sand down the nail and remove any residual polish. This results in thinner, weaker, exposed nails over time. So when that chemical remover is painted on- wow! It hurts. It's cold and painful, and by the time you realize it- too late. I'm growing out my nails and letting them replenish themselves before I go back- which could take months. Why go back at all? Convenience, really. I'll likely ask them to lay off the chemical remover and wrap them instead. As far as polish colors go, they seem to have a lot, but they use a ton of DND. I prefer the longevity of OPI, but they do have some of this as well. They keep your info in their system but don't track your colors- note that detail yourself. I don't know if it's a gel thing, but it bothers me how rough they file my nails. It's never done with a fine grain along the edges. Inevitably I'll start snagging things with the edge of my fingernails and need to file them myself. Would I recommend this place? Yes, for ambiance and time alone. The cost is average to high if you go beyond the basic manicures, but this is Marin. I get better quality for the same, or less, in the city- so I may just start going back there until my nails are healthy again. read more

The salon is really well furnished however the quality of work is not even close to what it should be. I paid $80 for crooked, thick, and painful nails. I tipped the nail tech $20 because I felt like she probably should get compensated for the 1 1/2 hours of time it took for her to complete the set. I'm really disappointed and will need to get these fixed ASAP somewhere else! Also, I got a cut on my pinky... not sure if I should worry about that. Edit in response to the business: No one asked me how I felt about the nails after service. I paid and wasn't even thanked for my business. I wouldn't trust this establishment for a remedy considering the lack of care during the entire process. Please do not paint me as a liar because I am the farthest thing from that. I chose Bloomingnail's mainly because of how convenient it is--only about 10 minutes from my house. I normally drive all the way into San Francisco from Strawberry because I love my usual nail salon, but Bloomingnail's looked beautiful from the outside and their Yelp photos were promising, so I decided to give it a try. I've been here three times, and unfortunately the experiences were very inconsistent. First visit: I got Gel-X and a solid color done by a male technician, and he did an excellent job. He paid attention to detail, shaped them perfectly, and I absolutely loved my nails. Because of that, I happily rebooked for my Christmas nails. Second visit (Christmas nails): This appointment was disappointing. I booked with a female technician and submitted my nail art inspiration online beforehand. On the day of my appointment, Hanna went over the design with me, picked out the colors, and everything seemed clear. However, the older technician who worked on my nails did not execute the design well. She kept insisting I use stickers instead of hand-drawn chrome stars, which made me feel like she wasn't confident doing the design I asked for. One nail was extremely crooked, and although she initially denied it, she eventually fixed it. About halfway through, Hanna stepped in and told the technician to remove the nails because she wasn't happy with the work. Hanna completely redid my nails herself and hand-painted the chrome stars exactly how I wanted them. Even though I was there for over two hours, I decided to come back in the future because Hanna handled the situation professionally and corrected everything beautifully. Third visit (New Year's nails): This was likely my last visit. I submitted my inspiration photo online again--a cat-eye base with a gold chrome modern French tip--and booked with the same male technician from my first visit. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to execute the French tip correctly. The gold wasn't chrome, the tips were bulky, and they weren't even. I'm not confrontational, so I paid, tipped, and left--but I hated my nails. After paying $135, you should walk out loving them. I went back inside and asked them to please fix my nails, and thankfully Hanna was there again. She removed everything and redid my nails exactly how I wanted them. Two days later, two nails fell off, and when I returned to get them fixed, I specifically asked for Hanna. She fixed them perfectly, and I'm very grateful to her. Hanna is the only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars. She consistently fixes mistakes and clearly knows what she's doing. Unfortunately, due to the repeated issues, long appointment times (over 2 hours each visit), and inconsistency, I'll be going back to my usual nail salon in San Francisco despite the drive. read more

I decided to update my review from 4 to 5 stars. First- I tried some other salons in the area and decided to go back to Tina for the last few months. My builder gel is always great with her!! My nails looked perfect when I was proposed to thanks to her! Secondly- my prior review was based on variable pricing at check-out but it seems like they are now more organized and the front desk is on top of it!! Definitely recommend read more

I went to bloomingnails after my friends bought me a gift card for my birthday. The experience there was amazing. Well decorated, spacious and clean. I requested Tina after seeing multiple reviewed mentioning her amazing service. She walked me through the process of gel x to help build out my natural nails. I moved forward and got the cutest cat eye pink with gold hearts for Valentine's Day. Not only was Tina great but I also observed kindness and patience from every employee with their clients. UPDATE 7/5: After my last visit to Bloomingnail's salon, I was promptly contacted by Stella, who went above and beyond to make things right. She helped me schedule a follow-up appointment for Saturday, where Tina redid my ombré fill. Tina was fantastic--she took the time to properly correct the nail foundation and shape, paying close attention to every detail. Throughout the appointment, she consistently checked in to ensure I was happy with the shape and color before moving on to each step. I truly appreciated her professionalism and care. I'll definitely be returning to see Tina. Aside from the salon being aesthetically pleasing, the quality of my ombré acrylic fill was a disappointment. First, the ombré tool did not work so they had to use the sponge method that also didn't work and ultimately another manicurist did the powder sprinkle to try to get the ombré look. I was at the salon for 1 hour and 50 minutes because of the mishap. When I was told that it was done, my cuticles were not even worked on, shape was inconsistent, and I was left with white power around my finger tips. For being at the salon for almost 2 hours, I expected better quality and skill set. You can take a look at the pic I took immediately after my visit. Amazing experience in a gorgeous and safe location! I was told Bloomingnails arrived to Tiburon about 3 months ago. They certainly know how to decorate their space and make it feel so comfortable and clean. I need to come back to try their Japanese head spa! I got a Gel x fill with a design + regular polish pedicure for a total of $165 including tip. Really great price for quality nails! I really appreciate how detail oriented they are. This place is AMAZING! First of all, the atmosphere is so welcoming and tranquil at the same time. The decor was so well thought out, there are piano covers of pop songs playing, and you're always offered a refreshment! Tina is a true artist! She is always always able to listen to my quirky visions for my nails and make them come to life! I mean, she even made the lemons look JUICY! Not to mention, she listens to my needs and makes sure I'm getting the best service possible- we've learned that Gel-x is the way to go, but they offer so many other incredible services as well. Just really, really bad nails. I should have known it was going to be bad as my tech was very unsure of herself and a lot of the other techs were standing by watching her and directing her. They looked so thick and misshapen, fell off within 4 days, and I left with all sorts of glue and other materials stuck underneath the nails and around my skin. I showed her a picture of what I wanted but she instead gave me nails "like hers" after asking me if I like her nails. I said yes, but not that I wanted mine to be the same. They were very nice and took me as a walk in, but the service provided and result was so shockingly bad that I would really think before coming here. I got my nails replaced less than a week after getting this horrific set. Please try a different salon unless you have a trusted nail tech here that you know does well. Simply not worth the risk or money. Very nice interior, though! read more

I wanted to try this place as I live in Tiburon and was excited to see a new nail salon open up. Regular mani is $35 and pedi is $50. I didn't really enjoy the experience - the man that worked on my manicure was rushing and hurt me a few times. I had to tell him to slow down and stop twisting my fingers and pushing so hard on my cuticles. The woman who worked on my pedicure was nice and did a good job. What was weird is they were so friendly and offered the white women next to me tea or a beverage but not once did they say a word to me or offer anything to me. I had tickle in my through so I finally asked for a glass of water and it took her forever to bring that and no so much as a smile. I didn't feel comfortable or welcome. read more

I have never experienced anything as appalling as what happened at this salon. After accidentally booking my appointment (2hrs before) at the wrong location (Petaluma instead of Tiburon), I called and was grateful they transferred my appointment politely over the phone. That gratitude was short-lived. The moment I arrived, I was barked at to pick a polish and then told to sit and wait, which was fine. When I finally sat down in the pedicure chair, the receptionist abruptly interrogated me about my appointment swap, insisting I must have booked online. I explained--multiple times--that I made the appointment over the phone just a couple hours earlier. Instead of listening, she rudely asked me how I didn't know the difference between a 415 and a 707 area code. I explained that I was using my headset and only realized the mix-up when my calendar reminded me about the long drive. Instead of moving on, she chose to chastise me. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to cover it. During the manicure, the technician failed to properly remove my old gel polish (a recurring problem at this salon, since they never soak gel off and instead use a drill hastily I assume for efficiency). I could clearly see remnants of old polish underneath the new layer. Worse, the technician cut my cuticle deeply--painfully--and when I raised the concern, the receptionist swooped back in, arguing with me that she was "fixing a hangnail." I calmly clarified that my concern was the leftover gel and that I prefer not to have my cuticles cut at all. Instead of listening, she became visibly angry, continued to argue with me, and escalated the situation in front of the entire salon. When I said, "I don't think we are speaking the same language," she accused me of being rude and asked me to leave--in the middle of my service, with wet gel nails. I was horrified. I asked if at least the nails could dry so I wouldn't ruin my clothes, and she snapped that they were already dry and to "get out!". They were not. I walked out, humiliated, with unfinished, wet nails. I immediately went to another salon, where the technician commented on the sloppy leftover gel and the deep hacking of my side cuticles. That validated everything I had just endured. This was by far the most atrocious salon experience of my life. To be interrogated, chastised, yelled at, and literally thrown out in front of other clients--for calmly pointing out concerns--is beyond disgusting. I had been a loyal customer since the start of the year, even tolerating their lazy gel removal technique when it was done halfway decently, but this was unforgivable. I even called to speak with the owner afterward and have yet to receive a response. That silence speaks volumes. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. The lack of professionalism, skill, and basic respect is astounding. Save yourself the money, the pain, and the humiliation. read more

Consistently mediocre. I've given this place 5 tries because my daughter gets acrylics done by Hannah, who is very good most of the time. But I can't keep paying a lot of money to get an totally uneven manicure. A few times back I had someone who had clearly never done a manicure before and today my person was not much better. She was supposed to do a chrome gel manicure but clearly had no idea how to do it. All the ladies seem nice but non-plussed, untrained, and not happy to be there. I came in on a Wednesday to get a gel manicure and pedicure and by Monday the gel is already peeling. The staff seemed rushed, spent no time on my nails at all ( didnt remove cuticles, etc) and it was not a comfortable experience and my nails didn't look good when finished.
