LEE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE!! Two weeks ago, during my nail appointment. She rushed through the service, resulting in sloppy work. The following day, I called to express my dissatisfaction and requested that my nails be redone, mentioning that I would consider leaving a negative review due to the poor service. Lee told me to come in whenever I could, and she would fix them for me. When I went in today, she began raising her voice at me, she said, "Don't threaten me with bad reviews. Everyone loves my work. I'm proud of my work, and I don't want people like you in my salon." There were two other people present who were listening to this exchange. Feeling uncomfortable, I asked for someone else to do my nails and pulled my hands away. However, she aggressively grabbed my hands back and said, "No, I'll do them." She then started roughly removing the old nail polish. This was the worst experience I have ever had; I have never been treated so unprofessionally. This salon ruined my nails. my nail beds are thin painful to touch and damaged beyond imagination after I took their nails off. Even when they were placing the nails they damaged my cuticles - bleeding and then developed scabs around my nails. Not mention I could not use warm water because my nails were so sensitive. I would never go back there obviously. I confronted them but they are no willing to admit mistake which I despise personally. I'm telling you right now - there is a reason this place has 5 stars. If you are debating where to go in the area...look no further. 1) Masks required (yay) and appointment required (also great for Covid pre-caution) 2) The ladies are so friendly and kind! 3) A WIDE variety of color options. They do regular polish, gel, or drip powder. 4) My pedicure was incredible. Hot stones....OKAY!! Seriously I felt like I was living the life of luxury. They made me feel so taken care of. I loved the massage chairs too! 5) To keep things Covid-safe, manicures are also given OUTSIDE if need be. Such an awesome service. All employees are in masks as well. Pedicure came out to $35. I unfortunately had a really bad experience at Nail Motif. My gel pedicure was sloppy, but even worse was my dip manicure. I asked them not to cut or file my nails shorter, but that was disregarded and my nails were hacked off. I asked explicitly to preserve the length, showed an example of the preferred shape, but I guess they knew what I wanted better. The gel on top isn't set correctly and now the top layer is peeling off within an hour of getting them done. I was also told multiple times how much additional work it is to do dip, as if I shouldn't have asked for it and I was lucky to get whatever I got. All around that was the sentiment, I was ungrateful if I didn't just sit back and accept whatever they did. Also their prices are more than advertised in the post on Yelp - this was $115 which is significantly more expensive than I've experienced elsewhere, but I'm still struggling to find somewhere that does a good job with dip in Marin. read more
