For a big brand like Hoka I was expecting a store significantly larger than the one in Southcoast Plaza, in the newer section with the pedestrian bridge connecting it to the mall. The displays are grouped by gender and type, such as road running and trail. I thought the foot analysis device was interesting, but once I figured out how to use it, it suggested a full size larger than virtually all the shoes I have bought direct online, ir at REI. In particular, I was trying to replace a favorite trail shoe with the new Challenger 8 model, but unfortunately, they didn't have my size or a range of colors to select from. I wasn't certain enough to buy the pair that fit best, but seemed a bit large (I was correct, ultimately). Too bad, the color was far better in person than viewing it online. While I didn't buy the anything, it was still nice to see the selection and layout. I do recommend trying before buying online, especially here in Socal, because the main distribution warehouse is in Moreno Valley and sometimes orders arrive within a couple days. I did buy a pair of the Challenger 8s at the REI in Tustin because I found my size there, but had to compromise a little on color. Oh well, great shoes overall regardless. read more

First off, Hoka makes amazingly comfortable shoes. I have purchased Hoka shoes from Nordstrom, Dick's, Feet Fleet, and even Hoka online so I was excited to finally go into an actual Hoka store! Sadly, coming here was a big disappointment. Customer service not only lack but very poor service. They also said their computer system does not allow online returns or exchanges, nor honor healthcare discount. Will not be returning to this location. read more

Well that's a major disappointment - no longer accepting returns at the store from online purchases - wanted to exchange at the store. Nope. Between the new Mach 7 (size 9 wide) physically measuring smaller than the Mach 6 (at size 8 1/2 wide) and this new policy, there's no reason to ever go to the store. Is that the point? And HOW does a shoe company make a larger "sized" shoe smaller? An interesting question. read more

I checked out the Hoka store since a bunch of colleagues wear them and almost swear by how comfortable they are if you're on your feet/walking all day for work. My Skechers just weren't cutting it for me anymore. The Hoka store is located at South Coast Plaza - but if you're like me, and despise malls - you'll be relieved to know its on the more "quieter" side of SCP - across the bridge to where the Macy's Home Store is, on the third floor of this section, above the Apple store. I was greeted almost immediately upon walking in by Kai, who also introduced me to their nifty in-store shoe finder machine. It scans your feet (you can leave your socks on) to tell you your shoe size, feet profile, and recommendations on what shoe style to wear based on your feet, and your desired activity. I had already browsed their website, and based on the recommendations from my colleagues - was deciding between the Clifton 10 or Bondi 9 - both styles which the shoe finder also suggested as "Excellent Fit" types. Kai was awesome and patient - accommodating my requests to try both the Bondi 9 and Clifton 10 in the various sizes the machine was suggesting. He also found a shoe horn for me to use, since I didn't want to prep the shoe beyond loosing it enough (from its "for sale" position) for me to try it on. He checked in on me during my visit, but also gave me space to prep the shoes to try on, test them out, and then checked in on me when I was trying to decide which pair to get. I still couldn't decide (since both styles offer similar degrees of comfort) - so Kai suggested trying a different style on each foot - these are the out-of-the-box ideas that my tired, end-of-work-day brain never thought to imagine. I settled for the Clifton 10s, and Kai helped me with an efficient checkout process, including applying a new membership offer. Overall, a positive experience - I had just the right amount of assistance, and space when needed - and didn't run into the same issues of being ignored that a third of these other reviews were writing about. Life's too short to wear boring footwear. Colors galore plus I like the consistency of fit. There is only 1 other brand I know of whose sizing is equally consistent. A nice selection of styles, running, trail running or just strolling. As we browsed we were approached by helpful employees ready to assist. Unsure of size? No wooden shoe sizers here. They have a step on electronic version for accurate sizing. I didn't ask but considering Hoka was the only brand this is most likely a factory store. Regardless they have a large store with all Hokas latest offerings. read more

While traveling, we happened to notice quite a few people wearing Hoka. Coming back from our trip, my husband needed a new pair of walking shoes. We didn't really know much about Hoka so we decided to check out their store in SCP. Kudos to Anthony for providing great service and sharing his knowledge. Between my husband and I, we've purchased a few pairs in the last 5 years and have not had encountered a sales person who was open at sharing his knowledge as Anthony. While at the store, I checked out the website and learned that Hokas received a seal of approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association for promoting foot health so that's a plus. Anthony asked what activities I do most of, and brought out the Clifton 10 and Bondi for me to try. I thought my New Balance Fresh Foam was the best out there. But that was until I tried a pair of Clifton 10s. It was so comfortable, like my feet were on Cloud 9. The toe box is roomy so your pinky toe is not pinched. Last but not the least, they want you to love the shoe so if you become a member, you have 60 days to return the shoe (30 days without membership). Can't beat that! Sometimes, you have to wear it more than just walking inside the store to make sure it's truly comfortable and a great fit. On the website, they also have a cool feature where you can upload a photo of your feet to see how the shoe color looks. I highly recommend to check them out if you're in the market for a new pair of walking/running shoes. read more

Went today because they have the new Clifton 10 and a new size, double wide. Asked the lady to try on the double wide in black and she says we don't carry the double wide shoe. WTF. You are the Hoka store and you released a NEW double wide size. I wasn't even going to be be upset if they didn't have my size 12 and black. Just wanted to try on the show before I buy. You would think the Hoka store would have at least one sample shoe that's a double wide for customers to try on. Total waste of time. Just going to get a pair of Flux! Goodbye Hoka. read more

My $180 Hoka started coming a part six months after I purchased them brand new from the factory directly. I reached out to their customer service.(what a fiasco) and followed the directions carefully submitting my four photos. Repeatedly they would wait until I contact them weeks later wondering what's going on and they would send the same generic email repeating WE DID NOT RECEIVE YOUR PHOTOS PLEASE SEND THEM IN SO WE CAN REVIEW THEM... I sent the same email with the same photos six times, called their Customer Support number several times talking to AI until finally a human representative. Wanted to sign me up for some bogus gift certificate. Customer Support warranty is useless with this company. I spent $180 and get the runaround from the company do not buy these shoes. They are comfortable, but if anything happens, you will not be honored for their warranty. read more

The staff inside this Hoka store in Costa Mesa is really nice and super informative. I have heard so many people saying that the Hoka shoes are pretty nice and good so I wanted to come out here to try them. The lady was super chill and told me which one was great for different types of forms like walking and running and what I wanted to use these shoes for. The store is not very large but it does have benches for you to try the shoes on and you can keep on trying multiple ones, they don't mind. The shoes have many different price ranges as well. I guess it depends on who you get at helping you. I had a decent guy who was really not enthusiastic but got what I needed. Thanks for the Clifton 9s, which is probably the only shoe I can wear there. I saw another guy handling other customers but had a terrible memory of what shoes he was supposed to get. I've been buying running shoes for a long a time and unfortunately, after light use for 5 months, they don't feel so great, like they lost support. Amazing shoe! I got the Bondi 8 for $170 and worth every penny. My lower back, knees and feet don't hurt anymore. I a tk kindergarten teacher assist and am on my feet all day. I Purchased several pairs via their online website on black Friday. My order took several weeks to recieve but after trying on my shoes the width and size were tight. When I purchased the products online I verified they just opened a new pop up store at the South Coast Plaza. l drove out to this store up which is located on the third floor above the Apple Store. The staff was super helpful and friendly.The manager even sent my original pair of walking shoes back and I purchased the correct extra wide shoe which they had in stock - unlike the limited selection at Nordstrom. This is my first pair of Hoka Bondi 8 walking shoes and I'm definitely estatic with the comfort of the shoe. The return policy is 30 days but since its early December I have until January 31 to exchange the product. read more

Just had the worst customer service experience of my life. On black Friday I purchased Clifton 10 online. Size 10.5D. I have always worn this size and the current Clifton 8's I have are the same size. When the shoes arrived they were to big. I tried to do a exchange but they were out of stock so I just returned them. I called Hoka asking to get a size 10 for the same price and they denied my request. The supervisor Brandon told me it wasn't a service issue so they could not honor the same price. I did nothing wrong and the company did everything wrong. Not my fault the shoe was bigger than normal for that size. Not my fault they were out of stock. I asked to speak to his boss and he refused saying he wasn't customer facing. Even though I like the product I am seriously thinking of not buying anymore Hoka's. read more

Have you ever seen someone wearing Hoka's? If you stand for a living or have foot and back problems then you probably own a pair. Today I was pleasantly surprised to find a new store at South Coast Plaza! The first thing I noticed when I walked in that several people greeted us were quick to help by answering any question. It was nice to find people who not only know what great customer service was , but most importantly they were all very knowledgeable in the Hoka Brand and were very patient while I found a walking shoe that was right for me! I greatly appreciated their help getting me into the right shoe. Our experience was only enhanced by the sale they were having. I love Hokas and purchased a pair of black road sneakers and they are much bulkier and bigger but needed it for my field of work. I decided to come back to buy running sneakers and was so annoyed the fact that for women's sneakers you can only choose between pink or black colors. I looked at a few men's colors and all of them had a huge assortment of colors. The worker there said yeah you can buy online (which coming here was a waste of my time then) and they have more. So I think this location does a terrible job in choosing female selection of sneaker styles and need to do better. Like not even light blue? Green? Yellow for gods sake? Nothing just black or pink. read more

Kinda sad; I went to hoka today ... The sales floor was all male , It just kind of seemed like a bunch of friends hanging out ! The gentleman, who I suppose, was the manager behind the register with a brown shirt kept looking at me but never offered any help ! I was in the store for ten minutes & Again, no help offered. Horrible customer service!!! More accurately LACK of customer service. I'm a tried and true Hoka customer. Typically I buy from REI to get points, however I was looking for a specific race shoe that only the store or online sell - the Cielo X1. I called during the day and had a pair in my size set aside. Later that night I came to the store, there were at least 5 customer service associates standing at the register talking. The girl found my shoes in n the back and handed them to me. That was the extent of our interaction. Not once did anyone come over to see how they were fitting or of I needed another size. Crickets! Mind you, these are $275 shoes!! I did not care for the shoes. The laces were bizarre! They felt like plastic and were challenging to untie or even stay tied. The tongue was weird, it got bunched up when I put my foot in. It was a quick NO for me. Still not 1 associate checked on me and I was sitting on a bench right next to the register. I packed the shoes up, left them on the bench and left. While I was leaving i noticed 3 other customers and not 1 single associate helping. REI will continue to get my business and Nike Alphaflys will be my race shoes! And these retail associates want more than min wage!!!! read more

Came here to buy a Christmas gift, during the holidays I understand how employees can get overworked but I came and it wasn't busy at most there were 3 customers and only one was being helped. Anyways, I knew what I was getting I didn't come to look or anything but it was frustrating how I had to wait over 15 minutes for a sales associate to approach me, none the less I was never greeted nor approached I had to basically make someone help me as the sales associates were all just talking to each other. read more

Super DISAPPOINTED. Went in on a Saturday to return the shoes my mom bought since it didn't work for her feet and it was closed at 8pm. I looked online and it said it closes at 9pm. There were 2 workers inside just dancing and singing and they saw us at the door. We knocked a few times to ask them why it closed sooner than it said it would but they ignored us. They were too busy dancing. He could've came out to tell us the actual time they closed but they didn't. Wow! Dennis was super helpful. It was quite a busy Saturday at the store and there were so many customers, but Dennis and the other staff made me feel like I was the only one there. I tried on about ten pairs of shoes and finally decided on the Clifton's. Can't wait to try them out. Apparently you can try for 30 days and return them, If they don't work. Such a great policy because when you are a runner, you really do need to try them out on an actual run. So grateful! read more

Love Hoka shoes. I've worn this brand for many years now, way before they opened the store at SCP. They're the most comfortable shoes ever. My review is about the store, in particular some employees. They should be properly trained so they're able to answer questions in a smart and informed way. The other day my husband and I went to get some shoes for trail/hiking and I asked what were the differences between speedgoat 5 and anacapa breeze models, the girl just answered one is for trail and the other one is for hiking (we knew this already). She wasn't in a helping mood at all, and I said to my husband I was going to look it up online, to what she replied "yes, Google can answer that". Not very professional. There was young man working there who was a lot more helpful and knowledgeable. I ended up leaving the store and ordering the shoes online because I am loyal to the brand. read more

The store presentation is wide and clean and a large assortment of merchandise. However, customer service is not so great. Upon entering the store, there was no greeting. After browsing both walls of shoes, no associate approached us for any questions or help. I am new to the HOKA brand and have no clue where to start and would have appreciated some assistance. When asking for a size, the associate was condescending in her tone as I did not know that the blue holders were unisex and the white holders are a men's or women's only. This store has the best customer service in all of South Coast. I dealt with a diff employee the few times I've been there and it's always been the same great experience. Dropped by on a Monday afternoon and it was empty and awesome. Dennis helped us out and he was great, he 3D scanned my feet (and my husband's feet) helped us learn more about our arches, our true shoe sizes, and it was incredibly helpful and we are now better informed and will be better at buying shoes moving forward. He gave us a ton of options to try and ultimately, we found the shoes we wanted but not the color ways we liked, so buying them elsewhere but thank you Dennis for your incredible customer service and for being so knowledgeable and patient with us as we tried a ton of shoes and sizes. Tried on 5 different pairs of shoes and the associates were very kind helping my wife and I find the right fit and right shoe. Ended up buying the Mafate speed 4 . Amazing shoe. Andy helped us and we appreciate all the help. It is tough finding the right shoe. But the team at hoka helped.
