Leo was pointed in our direction by a neighbor and he quoted us $2,500.00 to remove the five dead/diseased trees in our backyard. He told us his crew would be there at 8:00 the following morning...but at 11:00 when no one was there we started to get upset. The guys showed up about 11:30 and MAN! Did they make up for lost time!! Those guys worked their a$$es off and had five trees down lickety-split. Our side and back yards looked like a tornado had come through! The guys spent hours cleaning up, grinding stumps, and repairing some railing that had been hit by a large falling branch. Clean up continued into the following day but damn if it didn't look great by the time the guys were finished. They even cleaned up a few branches that had fallen on to our neighbor's roof! We would definitely use Leo again. Happy tree trimming, Yelpers! read more

All I can say is you get what you pay for. The quote may be cheap but it's not worth it. I'd rather spend a little more on quality work.

Very unprofessional said they would be here at a time never showed up call them guy said he would be here in 10 minutes he never showed up they're very unprofessional read more

I needed some rose bushes removed and they got the job done so quickly and put the yard back together for me. These guys were amazing. I even hired them for a second job. Highly recommend!! read more

I contacted this company spoke to Leonard he said he would show up 7:30am on 9/25 he never showed up and didn't respond to my calls or texts. A big waste of my time. I finally went with Valley Tree Care best decision I have made. If I could give HLI a zero star I would read more

I'm very happy with the service provided by HLI tree service. They showed up, did a great job and left the property clean and in better condition than they found it. I would definitely call this company in the future if needed. I believe their pricing is fair also. I called them late in the day and still got same day service. I called a few companies before this one and only got answer machines which was frustrating. This company answered the phone everytime I called which sealed the deal for me. Very professional all around. read more

We had 12 Cypress trees taken out, 10 Cypress trees trimmed, and 2 side trees trimmed by HLI. Leo was professional and gave us good advice regarding our trees. He gave us a good price to do all the work. What I wasn't expecting was how quickly his team was able to perform the work and clean up. The team was very organized. I highly recommend them. read more

Great price to cut my trees, clean up and removal , professional and friendly highly recommend

Had them remove a bunch of trees in May. We showed them all that needed to be removed during consultation. They quoted less then competitors so we chose them along with the fact they are licensed. They were a few minutes early which was nice, but the supervisor who we consulted with apparently has memory issues because I go over what is to be removed per our prior conversation and he acts like we didn't troll about the removal of some roots. BEWARE: They have a scam that they claim branches are rotting there is a picture in their phone, but when we ask them to send the picture to us they never respond. They charged us an extra $1000 dollars for a large branch. They left a huge mess in my backyard and a tree they removed is growing back. There service was quick but quality is garbage. August 13: called HLI and spoke with a rude man who interrupted me when I talked, then would raise his voice at me and hung up on me when I raised my voice in return. He spoke with my grandma and said someone will be at our house at 8:30. August 14: 8:30 am no one shows up. We call multiple times and are always told that they are on their way. Over 3 hours later a man named Eli arrives. He is kind and had been working on the roots that they had neglected before. We do appreciate Eli's kindness. read more

This company is not professional. They left a flyer on my door to get my business. I called them to set an appt and they did not even show up at agreed time. I am now calling them and texting them with no replies. Why pass out flyers if you don't want to work? This was a red flag. Taking my business elsewhere. read more

I am very happy with the quality of work and great price that we were given. They came in as requested, worked with our tight schedule, due to day time sleeping hours schedule and left the site clean and nicely groomed trees and cleanly removed trees and stumps. I will be recommending their services. read more

Worst tree cutting service ever and very dishonest. Martin Aguilar (I believe he's the owner) from HLI came to the house to give an estimate. When we were ready to do the work we called him and he up the price on us. They were suppose to remove 2 trees from the root with stump and grind them. He only removed one tree with the stump and left the other tree with a big stump. He didn't even put the proper poison on tree to stop the growth. The website says they accept credit cards but when we tried to pay him, he wouldn't accept it. He forced us to pay in cash or write him a check in his personal name rather than the company's name. He gave us a guarantee if the trees grows back, he will come back and cut them. One month later, tree roots started growing out from 2 places. When we called Martin back, he hung up the phone on me and didn't reply to the text messages either. I've never encountered such a dishonest, unreliable and unprofessional company. Please save yourself some headache and don't trust them or use their company. read more

So here is an update. I received a call from who I think is the owner, he stated he was wanted to resolve the issue with my a/c and remove the leftover branches that were on my roof. I figured I'd give him a chance to right the wrong. So to make a long story short, TLI has done nothing and now it has been a month. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If I could give negative stars I would. Take the time read the the countless negative reviews before even considering hiring this horrible company. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED read more

They gave me an estimate one day, showed up early the next morning and got to work. They finished, cleaned up their mess, in no time. This is the second time I've used them and would gladly use them again. Highly recommend! read more

So unprofessional and non-responsive. These guys trimmed my neighbor's palm trees, and then did a terrible job cleaning up. They asked to USE "3/4" OF OUR TRASH CAN, my husband said yes (god knows why) and then they filled it OVERFLOWING. That was on Friday. I called their phone number and requested that they come dump it - we need our can, and it wasn't our trees. They said they would come.....Saturday comes and goes, I text them, because his voicemail is full, and they said "Monday, Please." I'm a normal human being and so I didn't raise a fuss at that point. So Monday comes and goes....nothing. I called once and texted three times asking them to confirm that they are coming to pick it up. No response. Now it's Tuesday at 1PM and the can is still sitting on the curb, not even in front of MY house, and it's overflowing. I can't get rid of my own trash. PLUS they dropped sooooooooo much palm from their truck when leaving all over Diane Avenue. It was a huge amount - I'm not talking a little bit. In about 4 spots. UGH I'm so frustrated (obviously) that I've written this grammatical-stream-of-consciousness-nightmare. read more

They took down a dead tree for me and left me with $5000 damage to my fence and sprinklers. Now they dont respond to phone calls or letters. They use addresses in Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga--same guys. read more

They removed a large pine tree and ground the stump. Great job at very reasonable price. Quick and thorough! Good communications throughout.

This is the worst garden service we have ever had as the value of the work was terrible. They do not do what the service agreement arranged: only one-half was done for less than half the value of the cost, and trimmings were not removed, which left an awful mess. read more

They were wonderful. Very reasonable prices. They responded quickly and came out the very next day. Clean up was great. I would definitely use them again in the future. read more

They want $250 to look at a tree to see if it can be spared from being cut down. The plum tree is not dead. It just needs nutrients. This company is not the right company for my needs. They have a "cut it down and plant a mature tree" mentality. They want $$$ read more

I previously left a review but that was before we saw all the damage done to our shed and our fence when they left it was pitch dark so we could not see all of the damage. Our shed is destroyed it was only 5 years old we're talking about an $800 shed. They also bent the fence none of this could be seen in the dark they just got their money and left don't use them you will be sorry read more

Stay clear folks! They cut the branches off our tree in our back yard and left them saying they would return the next morning. That did not happen. They showed up the following day... Not only did they leave a huge mess in my yard, (they said the leaf blower was at another job), I had to sweep in front of my neighbors house, where they blocked my neighbors driveway. They broke one of our rakes and didn't say anything. They emptied one or our recycle trash cans on the ground and took it. When I called and talked to Leonard the owner, before I finished my sentence, he acknowledged they had the trash can and would return it the same day. That was two days ago, and when I tried calling the EXPERTS today, the vmail is full. Really? I will never hire someone without checking out yelp first. Rather than buying fancy trucks for yourself, you may want to buy your guys more equipment to do their jobs i.e., saws, leaf blowers, rakes, trash cans, someone to answer your phone, this is how experts roll! If you feel inclined to return our trash can you stole, I may consider removing this post. Update: 15 days later, a new recycle bin appeared in our backyard. Kinda creepy you didn't knock at my door or just leave it outside our gate. I have since noticed corner stucco was removed from the workers dragging large branches around the corner... sloppy work! read more

They removed the wrong tree! I couldn't believe it! The owner came over and I pointed out what I wanted done but the morning of the work he wasn't there when the crew showed up in the morning. The foreman asked me to go over what needed to be done and he seemed to understand. I had to leave but I thought everything would be fine...boy was I wrong. I came home to find they had taken out a perfectly healthy tree that matched the one on the opposite side of the pool... it made no sense. To make matters worse they said it would be too expensive to replace the tree. I used the money I would have paid them to replace the tree, but what a pain and it will be years before it mature to match the other. If you choose these guys make sure you watch them every minute. I am changing this to a 2 star review instead of one, because at least they didn't have the nerve to ask me to pay for the trimming they did and removing a stump which they did do well. read more

HLI did a really great job at trimming multiple large trees I had that were overgrown on my property. They came same day to assess my property, gave me a fair estimate and even worked with me on the price. They were available to complete the job ASAP. We scheduled on a weekend..they were on time and very communicative on what they were doing and any questions they had during the job. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was clean up was a B. There were some large branches that were left behind. Had I had seen the branches prior to them leaving, I know they would have picked them up, no problem. Thank you for coming during this pandemic and when I really needed you read more

*****This is a REVISION of my May 4th review of HLI Tree Service and the work these guys did for me. I had them come out and trim the overgrown bushes from my backyard as well as a hedge and tree that was blocking my view. The hedges were trimmed . when it became dark, I could see that they would have to come back to cut just a little more from those hedges. I called Leo and he sent two guys over to complete the job and I am pleased. Thank you!! They did great! read more

Today was the second time we have hired HLI Tree Experts to trim our trees. We first hired them a couple of years ago and they did such a great job, it was an easy choice to have them back. Leonard gave us a very reasonable quote and listened carefully about our wishes to just Thin our trees Not hack them. We are picky because our trees provide shade for our horses and they are special to us. The crew was very efficient and professional and cleaned up after themselves extremely well. Just a great group, will definitely continue to use their services! read more

COVID friendly. Wore masks and provided excellent service for a very fair price.

HLI was hired to trim my next-door neighbor's yard. Without asking whether I wanted to move my car to avoid the chipper dust, Leo's crew blocked my car in the driveway with his trash truck. Leo promised to clean my yard. I gave permission and opened my gate, but his crew left the tree trash behind that fell into my yard. Leo gave me a quote for my trees, good for "today only" that was double what I was quoted the next day from my long-term tree trimmer. Leo's crew climbed the trees using clamp-on spikes, that gouged the tree trunks and opened the trees to disease. My trimmer uses only ropes. read more
