Milk tea is horrible. It doesn't even taste like HongKong style milk tea, more like dilute boba milk tea. Food is too expensive too.

It was a super cold, chilly night, and my boyfriend and I were craving some congee to warm us up. We didn't feel like making the trip to Chinatown or Lynwood, so we decided to come here. I had it bookmarked, and we have driven by it just the night before. We came in around 5:30 pm. There were a couple of tables already filled, and I liked that they had a to-go section of dim sum up at the front. We were seated quickly and got tea/water pretty soon afterwards. A huge fan when Chinese restaurants automatically give you water without having to ask for it. We went a little crazy with the ordering because everything smelled SO good, and we were starving. I got a small order of the pork and preserved egg congee, crispy pan fried chicken egg noodles, sizzling pepper steak, dry hot pot chicken, mushroom & sausage, and half a roast duck. The congee came out first and was perfect. It was tasty and pipping hot. It did the trick, and the size was surprisingly large. The roast duck was eh. It was SUPER oily, and not the same Cantonese roast duck I'm use to. It also came with the orange duck sauce, which kind of cracked us up. The dishes also didn't come with rice, but I just asked them for a bowl of rice. Kind of weird. The crispy pan fried noodles with chicken were good. The boy really enjoyed it. I loved the dry hot pot. The chicken had a great char flavor to it. It came with whole cloves of garlic too. It was one of those dishes where after a while, you get tired of the flavor. The sizzling pepper steak was probably our least favorite. The cut of beef they used was SO chewy and not tender at all. We also got the egg tarts and the pineapple buns to go. The pineapple buns were good. I loved that it was filled with custard. The egg tarts were delicious as well. A little more pricey then other dim sum restaurants/bakeries. Overall, the food was good, just average. Not the best Cantonese food I've ever had. Service wasn't bad. I'm use to the service at Chinese restaurants. I just make eye contact and slightly raise my hand, and they know you need something/come over quickly. I love that it's so close to where we live with a hugeee parking lot. So we don't have to make the 20 minute drive to Chinatown/Lynnwood. The next time it's super cold/one of us is sick, we'll come grab some congee. Or if we have a serious craving for some Chinese food and don't want to make the drive. read more

Easy, over the phone ordering for takeout. The menu online is accurate to the items that are available but pricing is not the same. I ordered 11 items and the total was just under $60. They have my favorite: the footballs!! I tried the steamed bean curd filled with shrimp and pork... maybe coming up as a new favorite. I also really liked the salted egg sweet steamed buns! Next time I'd make sure to try the prawn rice rolls and honey walnut prawns. My only complaint was that the items could have been packed better. Sweet buns were mixed with savory steamed items and fried foods were still super oily. Some of the steamed items were juicy and leaked on the other boxes and into the bags. read more

The best , though the prices are high here mischievously higher for dim sum than on east coast , like $5.50 per small dish . Service is great very fast and nice . And dim sum is delicious, chicken feet and Szechuan tendons were great so tender and melt in your mouth and mildly spicy . The tripe with ginger was good too very soft and better flavor than at some spots in international district. Shumai pretty regular and shrimp and pork shumai come with shrimp separate from the dumplings itself (?) read more

Don't order xiao long bao, it had lots of hard bits inside that I had to spit out. And the skin was really thick too. Other dishes are OK. Peking duck is good considering it is a dim sum restaurant. There was green onions but no sweet sauce. The sticky rice chicken has skin in it, didn't see much chicken. Beef tripe and shrimp steamed dumplings were good. The chive and shrimp seared buns are the worst... I order this at every dim sum plaCe.. never had it so awful that I almost spit it out. The skin was thick and taste was weird. read more

HK Dim Sum - Raw shrimp and chive dumpling - Dim Sum Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I am so excited about this spot! Best dim sum without having to go to China town. Living in Everett, I've been pretty disappointed in over priced dim sum in Lynnwood and Edmonds- but would make it work to satisfy my cravings. Today, we went to the Seattle arboretum so immediately wanted to explore dim sum options outside my standard radius. Checking out the menu prior to- they had the variety, favorites and price i was looking for! The place did not disappoint. The menu was in chinese with english as the second language- a good sign to begin with! !They did not have the standard carts, most likely due to covid, but you could see the steamers from the table. Dishes were served piping hot and flavorful. We ordered A LOT (including a bbq roast duck). My favorites were the duck, steamed pork and shrimp dumpling or shiumei, stuffed chinese donut rice roll, sticky rice in lotus wrap, and schezuan style green beans. Service was great! Restaurant and bathrooms super clean. The place practiced strick covid precautions (hand sanitizer, temp check and sign in for covid tracing). read more

We went here for dinner today after a pleasant walking around Greenlake and were famished. We've been coming here for dim sum for a while now and it always hits the spot! This isn't the best dim sum restaurant in the greater Seattle area but it will satisfy your cravings. Actually, my two favorite restaurants are both located in the International District Chinatown (IDC), which are Jade Garden, and House of Hong. If you want a better experience, go there. It's hard to find a decent dim sum restaurant north of the IDC. If you live up north in Everett, Lynnwood, Edmonds and don't want to make the drive all the way down to the IDC, you don't have to. Well, there's also the T&T Restaurant in Edmonds but it's not as good. This place offers pretty much all the popular and common dishes that a typical dim sum restaurant offers. You can also order entrees from the menu for lunch or dinner as well. Their dim sum dishes are all tasty. My favorites includes: steamed pork ribs with black beans & squash, phoenix claws, stuffed eggplants, taro cake, turnip cake, Chinese broccoli, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves, honey walnut shrimp, and egg tart. They also serve jasmine tea with your meal and bring you water without asking. I like that! Most Chinese restaurant you have to request it. They have radish cake instead of turnip cake and it doesn't taste as good as turnip cake. Having a great tasting chili paste is a must for me when eating dim sum as it adds flavor and just the right amount of spicy on each bite. Believe me, it makes a world of difference and just wouldn't be the same without it. Sad to say, this restaurant doesn't have a very good chili paste. It just okay. Other than that, the is a good place to satisfy your hankering for dim sum. If you're ever around this area or live up north and don't want to drive all the way down to the IDC, you should go here! read more

Very good Dim Sum. We ordered a bit of everything including clay pot beef brisket, clay pot seafood, duck, pork, jellyfish, and sautéed black mushroom and greens. Plus the normal dim sum like steamed shrimp dumplings, tripe, Shu Mai, hum-bao, fried BBQ pork dumplings, pan fried shrimp dumplings, fried taro, etc. Honestly all great but the tripe here is amazing (perfect ginger taste). We ordered 3x the tripe :) . They did accidentally forget an order of shumai but fixed it and we ordered like 15 items so not an issue. read more

I've have ordered here three time now and have enjoyed every dish. I am a sucker for honey walnut prawns and theirs does not disappoint.

If I could give this place a 0, I would! I'm never returning again. This used to be my favorite restaurant when I used to live in the area. We decided to eat here since it's been awhile, we walked in around 7:05PM and they said they didn't want to serve us because they close at 8:00PM. If we walked in with 15 minutes left I would've been more understanding to her statement (I work in the restaurant business and our policy is if you walk in even a minute before closing, we will still serve you!). She told us if we can finish before 8:00PM, we can eat. So we agreed to this. The food tasted fine, however I believe that I got my food poisoning from here. My dad told me that he wasn't feeling too good after eating, but I actually had food poisoning. They didn't serve us water, but tea instead which is fine. However near the end of our meal, we asked for water and they told us that they only had bathroom water available. I'm disgusted. read more

Warning: Horrible!!! Nightmare services!!!! Not clean places to eat either. We had to clean the utensils before eating. My sister in law had to clean her utensils and I still had dried food stuck on my plate. Truly believe what the Yelp users were complaining. They will kicked you out during middle of dinner and expect to get great tips for food. Literally was told we need to leave as soon as receiving our food and every 5 mins until 9pm. We were harassed to leave by waitress saying how they live by the airport and kept on telling us to clear our plates so they could clean up our mess and they could go home before closing. Beware of using credit cards for payment. Make sure they're charging correctly. They will charge you for tea even if you didn't order any tea. Dishonest restaurant. Worst service ever, we were rushed to order and waited for our food to be streamed, ended up waiting almost 30 mins until everything came out. At 835pm we were told we had to leave before 9pm. Came in at 8pm and was not told that we would be kicked out by 9pm. We even ask if we can stay a little past 9pm. First Chinese restaurant where they had you the box to box up yourself. When we got the check they were expecting tips. If you're going to kick customers out before closing, at least tell them that so as customers we can choose to go to different location. My family is very understanding and nice but the staff there was abusive to my parents and family. read more

Stopped in last weekend. We wanted dim sum but didn't feel like driving to some of the further away places. Was very happy with this place especially since it's so close to the house. Started off with some of our standard choices - radish cake & sticky rice. The sticky rice had much more meat/sausage than I've had other places. Was really happy with it. The radish cake was good but it had gotten a bit cold from riding around on the cart. We had quite a few other things but last one I'll mention is the BBQ pork buns. I only had a bite because I was sooo full from everything else we ate. I don't typically eat/get these but I was really happy I saved room for the last bite. We also took some BBQ pork to go for left overs the next day. I'd definitely come back again. Just make sure to get there early. It started getting pretty busy for the lunch rush by 11:30. read more

I have had good and bad dim sum before and even the bad dim sum was better than this. I tried to come early to see if I could get something fresh in the morning if I wanted cold food I could order it to go then bring it home and leave it out for a few hours than eat it. If I am getting charged more than average dim sum prices than at least have the food be hot and fresh. When I was paying, the waitress asked if everything was OK my fiancée brought it to her attention the food was cold and she did not look surprised. We should have looked at the reviews before coming never again. read more

After several moves in the past couple of years around the country, I think we finally are going to set up roots here. The Seattle/Shoreline area is an underappreciated part of town not just because it's tremendously beautiful but because it's full of little treasures like HK Dim Sum. Probably similar to all of you, the pandemic has set me back in my exploration of restaurants. I miss the days of walking in and having a great experience, eating the fresh hot food as it gets walked out and having a great time with friends. But alas when people start making smart decisions perhaps we will be able to return to that ... one day. We're close but not quite there yet. As such, we must experience restaurants through take out and delivery services. Not a terrible alternative but, well, not the same. Nonetheless, here we are. I will have to say that HK Dim Sum has helped me fill that void of my constant craving of Dim Sum. Day or night, I have this insatiable yearning for tiny pieces of delicious food served in a small bamboo steamer. If only it came with a little cart and my life would be complete. What I love about this place is that the Dim Sum is fresh. You can tell with some places with reheated pieces of food - doesn't quite make the cut. Here, this is not an issue. The food is hot, fresh and need I say, delicious. I often order from UberEats but honestly, the food comes out so fast, I really should just head down the road and pick up the food myself. Their menu is extensive with all your favorite dim sum dishes and more. Too numerous to recount here so I guess you'll just have to check out their menu for yourself. Don't know what you're looking for or the names of each dish? Simple, look at the pics they have posted for each. The other thing you miss out on if you don't walk into the store is the fact that they also have fresh cha siu and roast duck available to pick up to go. Buy it by the "duck" or lbs in the case of cha siu. Pop in and take out. This business is built to fast. Prices are quite reasonable and frankly you're not going to find something much better than this certainly not with the convenience of parking and home delivery. If you're up for satisfying your craving of Cantonese Chinese food, you must give this place a try. read more

If you order for take out make sure you check your order before you leave to confirm they gave you everything you ordered. I have been to HK Dim Sum many times. The food is ok to average, not great. This review sorely needed to be updated because Yelp somehow managed to combine both locations and the Lynnwood branch has since closed. On to the dim sum! I absolutely love HKDS because it reminds me of some of the best dim sum joints I've ever eaten at, the food is great, the menu is varied and the prices are fair. The service is good too. Weekends are a challenge at EVERY dim sum restaurant I have ever been too all over the world. If you can slip in here during the week and it's not busy, the staff is ready to point out items you might like. If you like A, B & C, you should try X. Avoid the regular menu. Not sure why they have Americanized Chinese food on the menu - somebody must buy it, I guess. Stay focused. You're here for dim sum! Tip #1: Soup dumplings. Need I say more? Tip #2: They have a To Go area up front! Tip #3: They're hot tea is really good! Tip #4: After you're done, walk off a few calories by shopping at the well stocked Asian Supermarket next door! It's not that OTHER dim sum place that has a Michelin star, but the queue is quicker and the prices are better. read more

If I could post ZERO STARS I would. My bestie and I love dim sum, and live nearby, but I will never return. My bestie and I visited yesterday at 1pm. We decided to dine in,instead of getting carryout. First mistake. "Our bad...".. We seated ourselves... after the busser smeared a greasy rag over our empty table, and nodded his head in our direction. Second mistake. We each took a picture menu to explore our options. We were hungry...and planned to order in two intervals with two to three dishes to share with each interval. For our first order, we chose a plate of stirfried "chinese broccoli" ( bok choy). It came with a small container of oyster sauce. It was about one pound of stir fried bok choy. Priced at $9.95. It was the only item that resembled the picture menu. It was perfectly stir fried. Al dente.... but despite my mastery of chopsticks, it was awkward to eat due to its larger the size. Note prices were not adjacent to the pictures. I believe this was deliberate. The server eventually arrived at our table. I asked for water and was informed the only water available was bottled and for a fee. Nevermind... we decided to just drink the hot tea-- which the server had already brought to the table---- without our requesting it. We also ordered the steamed chive shrimp dumplings. In the picture menu they were a lovely rich green, larger in size and at least 4 were pictured. They did not resemble the pictured dumplings on the menu. Three pasty anemic looking dumplings priced at $6.75. Uhhhhhhh..... even Trader Joes' dumplings are more appealing......there was one miniscule shrimp inside each dumpling, and hardly any chive flavor whatsoever. The third item we ordered were the baked BBQ pork buns. In the picture they were triangular and appeared about three inches on each side. The three small ones brought to our table were much smaller and rectangular in appearance. Another $6.75 charge for wimpy portions that did not resemble the pictured menu item. The buns were crispy but there was so little filling inside, I never tasted any BBQ. While we were dining in we had plenty of time to observe the " tacky plastic aesthetic " slapped up randomly on the walls. My friend and I were counting to see just how many plastic pandas, plastic flowers and strings of multicoloured lights and fake brickwork panels on the walls could there be???? Well.... after barely recognizing the dishes we received in the first interval vs. what we had ordered, we decided not to continue to be disappointed. We asked for the check. I expected the check to total $25 or less. I was not happy to see that we had been charged for the tea delivered to our table. We had not ordered it. I tipped only the bare minimum... I believe our server priced our items as if we were receiving larger portions, not the anemic disppointments we received. I can't help but wonder if she did so because we are "white chicks " Perhaps we would have received better service and food if my bestie broke out her perfect Mandarin accent and ordered for us from the non-picture menu. $33.55 --- for skimpy food, poor service, and tacky atmosphere. Never again! read more

I ordered some classic dimsum dishes and beef chow fun. The dim sums are average at best and nothing extraordinary. HK Dim Sum was highly recommended by Yelp for "Dim Sum" in the area of north Seattle I was in, so that was my immediate target. First of all, I was glad it had an address on Aurora Avenue so it was really easy to find. Located in an Asian strip mall, it has a small unassuming front entrance, so I figured it would be a small mom & pop place. I was surprised when I stepped inside and saw a huge dining room which was colorfully and festively decorated. They serve dim sum all day, which is a big plus since I got there about 4:30pm. I ordered my usual favorites of Siu Mai (2 baskets) and shrimp Har Gow (1 basket). Tea was free. My God, my dim sums were absolutely DELIGHTFUL. . .big, plump, and steaming hot fresh! Service was fast and friendly too. HK Dim Sum was a great discovery for me. Well, too bad I live in Portland so it would be quite a distance for me to go there regularly. read more

I was very happy to find this spot after picking up some staples at the Asian grocery next door. It definitely helps if you know a thing or two about Cantonese food; if you do, you'll find some gems here. They are very quick to prepare to-go orders, even when you ask for something that needs to be made fresh. I got salt and pepper tofu, plus some mixed garlic/ginger veg (I asked for gai lan, but the woman at the counter correctly steered me to the green beans), and thankfully did not see the jian dui (fried sesame ball) display to the right, or else I would have bought them out. I might have to go back for more of the salt and pepper tofu again this week - it's simple but addictingly delicious, especially with the added topping of crispy bits and thinly sliced hot peppers. read more

I tried the spicy wontons and the honey walnut shrimp this time, and I didn't think either were that great (although my friend really enjoyed the wontons). I also got the golden sesame shrimp rolls again, and they were just okay. The baked custard buns are still divine. I also tried fried rice rolls for the first time, and they were really good. They kind of had the flavor of fried rice, but in a totally different form. They do have some things on the menu that I don't think they ever actually make. But it's still a good place to come for dim sum, and I'll probably be back. read more

Wow, forgot all about reviewing food. They serve Dim sum on carts here and the prices are good and variety is plentiful. Har gow and shu mai standards are good and hot and good sized. The chicken chow mein, pan fried (noodles with 2 crispy sides) was good but not stellar, the noodles being less than as crisp as necessary to stand up to the sauce and sauce being a little light on flavor. Pineapple buns were fresh and not too sweet and tea was refilled when requested. The place us frequented by both Ethnic Chinese and non-asians almost equally and parking is surprisingly not poor. Bonus for the Chinese BBQ counter as well and clean, modern digs. Much better than the old place in Lynnwood, but now there are such places up north anymore (well, as far north as I would like). read more

Don't order Peking duck! Totally different than the real Peking duck, almost same texture and taste as the roast duck, and very small portion! Fake Peking duck, not a decent dish! Roast duck was good. Steamed prawn dumpling was ok, tender shrimp, I don't think there's prawn. The steamed pork and shrimp dumpling was not juicy, a little bit dry. The steamed minced beef balls was so so, without any special. Plenty of parking lots. Clean restaurant and busy waitress. read more

I enjoyed the dim sum here so much that I'm still thinking about it a week later! I did a walk-in takeout order on a Saturday morning and food was ready in 10 minutes. They serve pretty authentic dim sum packed with lots of flavor. I ordered the steamed pork and shrimp dumplings (shu mai), steamed prawn dumplings, steamed BBQ pork bun, chiu chow style pan fried buns, steamed shrimp rice roll, pan fried radish cake, egg tart, and pan fried shrimp cake with chives. My favorite was the steamed BBQ pork bun (so much flavor) and the steamed shrimp rice roll -- the rice roll was so pillowy soft. We were only two people and had leftovers for dinner as well. It's hard to know where exactly to come out on these guys. People tend to be generous with Yelp stars, for the most part, and 3 stars seems kinda low for a place that does things mostly right. But Yelp says that 3 stars is "A-OK," and that's about where these guys land. They're filling a niche that isn't very crowded up north--as many reviewers note, T&T bangs the dim sum drum hard up here, but the list falls apart pretty quickly after these two. Hongkong is up on 164th, close to the freeway, in one of the many little strip malls that stand watch as silent guardians over the southwest cliffs of Mill Creek. Parking is decent, and the building is modest. One of the dings for this place has to be that as soon as you walk in, you start seeing things that could be cleaner (windows, fish tanks). They don't need to sparkle or anything, but glass surfaces do show dirt quickly and, well, we came here to eat food you made. I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more cleanliness. Flip side of that coin, though, is that the space here is small, and a bit cramped. Cleaning everything isn't something you can do just by walking around with a rag and soapy water. You'd have to move a bunch of stuff. So these dingy surfaces don't automatically mean you need to question the kitchen. An almost extra-large number of tables and chairs fill a dining room that's decidedly medium. There's room for them to push the dim sum cart through, but you're banging into your neighbors at the tables. The menu is fairly extensive--they number the dishes, and I think there end up being over 90 of them. You can order online, too, and come in to pick up. That's pretty cool--you don't find that at every dim sum place. We tried soup dumplings, pork ones, shrimp ones, chive ones. Crispy rice dumplings, from the special board, were amazing. We had spicy green beans, sesame bowls for dessert, probably a couple other things. All were very good, but those crispy rice dumplings really stood out. We just had ice water and hot tea with the meal, and about 10 items added up to $41 before tip. Pretty damn good prices here. The service was cheerful, and they were friendly, but they were clearly hustling through a long, hectic shift, so we didn't shoot the breeze with them or anything. Bottom line, we'll happily come back here, and more than once. It's a bit more about value and convenience than it is about the food, but the food is surprisingly solid. read more

I've had them bookmarked since they opened and when a friend of ours came over for a late lunch date, we decided to check HK Dim Sum out instead. Since it was in between services, the place was sparsely populated. We were shown to a table that was clean and already set with place settings. Our server stopped by our table shortly after the menu and a large pot of hot tea (with leaves!) arrived. We ordered: - baked char siu bao - deep fried shrimp balls - honey walnut shrimp - har how - Szechuan-style green beans With our order, there was no tepid temperatures or fillers in our food. The honey walnut shrimp was crisp, not soggy with sauce. The green beans were also nicely made without being too salty or overcooked. I had to ask our server a couple times for a beverage that our friend ordered. We also didn't receive a requested item but we also weren't charged so we weren't that bothered. For the majority of the meal, we felt like we were tended to accordingly and our used plates were cleared quickly. When it was time for dessert, I went with some egg custard tarts and a fat wedge of steamed brown sugar cake (Ma Lai Gao or Malay cake). Our server brought us another pot of tea to accompany the sweets too. In addition to their dim sum and full size entrée menus, they also sell the usual Chinese BBQ items for takeaway. Behind their counter, I saw roasted pork, roasted duck, and soy sauce chicken. While we were there, I saw several customers come in just for takeaway BBQ. I think the price point was around $10 per pound. On the weekends, I've noticed a lot of customers at the market so I imagine they might get a fair amount of foot traffic also. Parking is plentiful with several ADA spaces right in front. read more

The dimsum itself is very good and reminds me of the food I would get when I lived in China. I have been coming here for almost 5 years and usually would give it 4 or 5 stars but today knocked it down. In my order I asked for the dim sum size of our food, and for their soya sauce chow mein. I had called at 5:11 and was told 15 to 20 minutes. At 6pm we were given 3 containers of dinner sized meals which made my bill about $20 more than I had been expecting, and dim sum is already quite expensive. I would have been okay with this but unfortunately the serving sizes were barely bigger than the dimsum sizes. They might have even been the same size and just put in a bigger box. They also gave us a seafood chow mein that was pretty flavorless and obviously their most expensive chow mein versus the $8 one we tried to order. Will come back, as its delicious but a little disappointed. read more
