There is walk-ins but I wouldn't risk it The food was incredibly fresh. As it goes without saying, when you're in Hawaii you're as close to eating the freshest seafood as you can without being in Japan. We both ended up getting their Signature Negitoro Bowl but the Tokujo version which has Salmon Roe + Snow Crab + Uni and added a fresh Yolk Soy Sauce. Because why not have the Lamborghini of Negitoro bowls while you're visiting here. Along with that I ended up with a half sized udon miso soup and my wife a crab miso soup. As you can see in the pictures the food came out looking just like it did on the menu, no false advertising there. The egg soy sauce was a perfect creaminess that complimented the saltiness of the Uni and Salmon Roe. Once you mix everything together there's even added house made soy sauce on the side of your want more saltiness back but add some yuzu ginger with each bite and you get that perfect blend of flavor. There's fish was insanely fresh and had zero fishy smell or taste. The rice underneath was cooked well and the side squares of nori was perfect to make our own hand rolls. There's no alcohol served but they allow you walk 15 steps outside to the nearby convenience store where they have the cutest little dog and bring in your own beer or sake. There's miso soup was good and warms you up, but will say the corner we sat on had the AC blasting (which we're not complaining) but it did cool down our soups a little faster than we could enjoy so in the end my wife's crab miso did get a little salty. But overall the food was amazing, service was friendly and vibes were warm. Absolutely will come back the next time we're in Oahu.

It's a small place, so seating can be limited, and although they do take walk ins, you really should make a reservation. Free validated parking is available next door in the parking garage beneath the Bank of Hawaii building. I really like how light and crispy their tonkatsu is here. And the Kurobota katsu just melts in your mouth! If they don't have that available their Bairin Pork Tenderloin Katsu is always excellent too! My girlfriend also likes their Katsu-Dons. Sets come with free refills of rice, miso soup, cabbage, and pickles. Last night they also had several new wagyu additions to the menu that we haven't seen before, along with a wagyu beef nigiri that we had to try and thoroughly enjoyed. Service here is fast and very friendly! We have always enjoyed coming here and the staff take great care of their customers. They also offer a Kamaaina discount for locals with a Hawaii ID, which is really fantastic for people like us who live here and enjoy this place!

For years we have gone to Ginza Bairin and never knew this place existed (since 1952 hello!). But GB is looking really dilapidated and inside is very small. We saw this very authentic place on a YouTube video and we had to try. Food: 2 shrimp 2 chicken set and 10oz. pork loin set. I love that you get a choice of rice and miso soup. We selected white rice and white miso with clams and green onion. I like that I can get a a combo of shrimp AND chicken. At GB I have to choose between the two. Although I believe the shrimp at GB are larger tiger shrimp. TT also gives you complimentary pickles (eggplant, daikon, and ume) and a small cup of barley tea at the end of your meal which is really a nice touch. The shrimp and chicken were breaded very nicely and the chicken was super moist. The miso soup was very flavorful with 3 clams. However, the rice I felt was cooked using too much water and was a little mushy. I prefer a drier rice. Hubby like his pork but next time would get a smaller size as he couldn't finish it all and left 2 pieces behind. They also come around with a bowl of cabbage in case you would like seconds. Yes please! Ambiance: I heard they used to be upstairs. This downstairs location looks brand new and is warm and inviting. The seat cushions are very comfortable. It's a much nicer environment and a much larger space than the run down GB. We walked from our hotel (30 minutes) and walked back but you would need an Uber if you're not up for that. For us, if we are lazy, I would go to GB as it's close to our hotel and has very large tiger shrimp. Otherwise, we would plan to come back here (and make reservations as soon as we book a trip to Waikiki!)

This restaurant is also on RESY and I wasn't able to get a reservation online for the night. Luckily we were able to be seated right away! And the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and prompt. There were not many people there, and the ambiance was nice but relaxed. Shared the Chicken Karaage, a spicy tuna roll, qnd Washugyu Yakinuku for two and it left us very content. I enjoyed the White Yuzu Ale with the meal. The chicken was crunchy and came with a nice side salad, and a small bowl of extra seasoning- which I definitely recommend using on the chicken. The spicy tuna roll had 8 pieces, and came out fairly quick. It tasted fresh as well. The Washugyu Yakinuku comes with a plethora of small sides including tempura (shrimp and some vegetables), salad, pickled vegetables, and two slices of salmon and tuna each. The Beef is to be cooked by yourself over the flame, which lasts only 20 minutes so be sure to do this right when you get it. The beef tasted fresh and delicious but a bit fattier than expected- there also is a small bowl of sauce that comes on the tray and I recommend dipping each piece of meat in the sauce after you cook it to your liking. There is a lot of free parking in the vicinity at the Whole Foods parking garage or the parking garage attached to the movie theater across the street. To note- I have had their takeout here once as well and in my opinion I believe their food is better at dine in.

We noticed that when it got busy, the place got super duper smokey really fast, to the point where they opened the front door to air some of that out. I wished they had a better ventilation system because we definitely left there smelling of smoke. As for the food, definitely shareable with different dishes from grilled meats to sides and starches. We came as a group of seven and everyone ordered something different, and everyone loved every bite. My tip: get at least two musubis per person.
