Dr. Ho Cho is a friend of mine and I decided to get my annual eye exam and new contact lenses from him this past month. I am glad I did! Dr. Cho is very thorough, explains everything to you clearly, and most importantly cares about your eyes and well being! The staff's service was excellent and you felt like you were cared for as well. The decor is unusually "hip" and modern. In addition, Dr. Cho uses the most advanced technologies in his office especially the 3D eye image diagnostic test to see if my eyes were A-OK. Everyone there is nice and professional. Right away I was greeted with a smile and taken care of right away even though I came in 15 minutes before my appt. I like that Dr. Cho was really sweet and actually made me feel more relaxed, going to any kind of check up makes me nervous especially when it is a new dr. I havent been to before. However, he wasnt like other optometrist I've been to before, we had a casual conversation and he really made me feel like he cared. Oh and the option of frames is amazing! My friend said I was nuts for trusting online reviews to lead me to a good optometry office. But after seeing Dr. Cho's reviews, it was a no-brainer to go and try him out. He and his staff are exactly as described in all the 5-star reviews. They are all amazing. His equipment is very modern, too. I was extremely impressed by my first visit here. I had to pick up my glasses and leave the area for a few months, so I was really depending on this working. Now, I am back four months later, I glad to say that the glasses work fine and I had no trouble passing the vision part of my driver's test. I chose to come to Hip Optics because of all the positive reviews here on Yelp. I had a couple of small issues. The first was, I was contacted by them to let me know that the glasses I ordered was received to them broken and that they where shipping them back for a new set.. This process took an additional 3 weeks. From what I was told by the staff at Hip Optics, was that they where having issues with the UPS delivery driver.. When I finally came in and picked up my new glasses today Dr. Cho was very sincere and apologetic to circumstances that where out of his control. He even went above and beyond and also gave me a gift card to Starbucks for the inconvenience to me. You don't find customer service like this all that often. Today was our first time at Hip Optics and I couldn't be happier with our visit! We had appointments for myself, my teenage daughter and my elderly parents. Dr. Cho & his staff were very friendly and kind and took time to really make us feel taken care of. Not only that, Dr. Cho was very thorough in his examinations and very knowledgeable about eye care in all stages of life (teen years, middle age, and elderly with cataracts). His office has all the latest technology and he really know how to use them to make sure nothing is missed! I saw some other Yelp reviewer complain about extra tests he likes to run for and extra fee of about $30. each....I know that this is a common practice these days among good eye doctors so that they can really look at the patient's whole eye. For about an extra $60, he can really exam your whole eye/retina and see things that might be missed without these exams and potentially detect any abnormalities early on--and we all know that early detection is key for most diseases--well worth the extra fees I think! I also liked that he didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need. My parent's glasses were still a good dosage so they just kept what they had. I know in the past, we've been to eye doctors that just told us to buy new glasses from them because "it's been a couple of years" even if the change in dosage was extremely minimal and not noticeable at all in sight improvement. Because we were there for a while for all 4 of our appointment times, I saw many patients come and go--many repeat customers--and they seemed to know everyone by name. Also, everyone seemed very happy with their visit--a great sign for any medical practice! Making an appointment was easy and the office staff very friendly. I had to go with my 3 choice of dates though because our dates and time were hard to match with 4 appointments all at once. However, a busy office is a sign of a good doctor so I didn't mind needing to wait a week and a half for my appointment. Make an appointment for your next eye exam.....you won't be sorry! read more

I made no appointment just walked in was pretty fast. Staff were very helpful & friendly. Me & my husband walked in right before their lunch time, the close for an hour to go to lunch, and they stayed till anout half n hour past 1 to help me and my husband out. He got his eye exam and the doctor really did a thorough exam. Ablot of doctors now a days just sit you in a chair & walk you right out. This doctor took his time and did a good job. My wife and I have been patients here for about a year. Our first visit was amazing. The front office was awesome and very nice. We just had our 2nd visit and the same staff members were amazing. They helped us with our copays. I recommend this office to my friends and family. It's also a plus that they are next to a fruit bar. My wife and kids had something to do while she waited for my exam. I have vision insurance through kaiser and would prefer to come here. They are very informative and nice. My daughters and I have been going to see Dr. Cho for a couple of years now. I've always had a great experience here and I'm particular about where I take my daughters because my youngest has such poor eyesight, poor baby. Dr. Cho is awesome. He always explains what he's doing and what he's seeing. He's extremely patient and doesn't rush through his patients to get to the next. His staff is always helpful and easy to work with. Because kids are kids, glasses do break and the warranty offered has saved me a couple of time. While I quite often read reviews, I rarely leave them.. however, my youngest daughter woke up seeing "zebra stripes" at the beginning of this week and she was very very scared because they weren't going away. I called Dr. Cho's office as soon as they opened, crossing my fingers and toes and eyes, hoping they could squeeze her in.. the gal who answered the phone was very friendly and got my daughter in half an hour later. Unfortunately, I'm a single mom and was not able to get off work to take her myself but my good friend took her and told me how impressed he was this office. My little girl developed a bad migraine in their office and threw up. Staff was caring, comforting and reassuring. They thoroughly examined my daughter and even sent me a follow-up email with a referral document for Kaiser, explaining what their findings were. As a woman who was a stay at home mom for a decade and now feels guilty that she couldn't even go to her child's urgent vision appointment, I am so so grateful for how they cared for my child in my absence and how they kept me informed of what the issue was. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! It was my first visit to Hip Optics for glasses and an eye exam. I suffer from badly from allergies and most of the time my eyes are red and scratchy. Dr. Ho Young Cho gave me a detailed eye exam that I never received from my regular doctor. He was super thorough and explained my results in a way I could understand. He has been the very 1st doctor that actually gave me insight on the condition of my eyes. He really cares about giving you the right information and is genuine. My wife went to her annual eye appointment yesterday and returned very frustrated and disappointed. After three years of loyalty she feels that she was disrespected and treated unfairly. During her consultation with the technician she was offered an optomap (sp) scan which she declined due to it not being covered by our insurance. The tech then told her he could probably get the cost waived. Needless to say after the appointment and tests she was charged for the scan and tests. When she asked the receptionist about the charges she was spoken to in a very rude manner questioning my wife and attracting the attention of other patients/customers in the waiting area. The receptionist then offered to reverse the charges on my wife's credit card but my wife had already been embarrassed and just asked for her receipt and left. During this whole incident my wife had also asked for a new case and was given one that did not even fit her glasses. Unfortunately we will be looking for a new optometrist. May even head back downtown to Dr. Bozner where,after years of patronage, we never received this kind of treatment. read more

I was impressed with Dr. Cho the minute I met him. He walked right up to me, put out his hand and introduced himself. He was open, honest and very informative. The care I received at his office was above and beyond anything I ever expected. Not only did my original appointment include follow up visits, Dr. Cho arranged for me to check in with a specialist at no charge to me. How many doctor's do that for anyone in this day and age ? I am back to normal now and will continue to see Dr. Cho for regular care of my eyes. You will be doing yourself a great service to make time to see this guy. Nice office staff, very friendly. Didn't get the pleasure of personally experiencing the hands-on care of the Doctor pe se, but I will say that he is very unprofessional. Sent my child home with the wrong-sized glasses and no case. When asked for a case, he told me he just didn't have any that fit. Dr. Cho totally took advantage of the fact that I was a new patient, and didn't know squat about optometry. Picked this place based on location. Stupid move on my part. Yet another strip-mall failure! I will take my business to an optometrist who actually cares, and knows how to send a patient on their way with appropriate fitting glasses and a case, without an clipped attitude attached to it! read more

To get a complete copy of you prescription, including all accurate information to purchase glasses from another vendor, they will charge you $ 25. And these charges are not disclosed in advance. I don't do so well with eye doctors, and I was really nervous but definitely needed to find one to see regularly. After reading these reviews, I went to see Dr. Cho yesterday, and I'm so glad I did! The office is small, but the employees are very helpful and friendly. The exam was very thorough, and they have this wonderful new technology that lets them get an even more comprehensive look at your eyes. Although, it's nice that they don't push this on you. They don't do that horrible air puff thing to check the pressure, either, which is a huge plus for me! Dr. Cho himself is WONDERFUL. I mentioned that I was nervous and not a fan of going to the eye doctor and he talked me through literally EVERYTHING. I appreciated it so much. He seemed genuinely interested in me as a person, too. There was another lady who helped me with glasses, and she was also very sweet and helpful.
