I agree with Ali G. (10/11/24) New office manager is rude, disrespectful, and does not care about the patient. We have been seeing Dr. Gilbert for years and after several years of this new manager we are done. The incident with Ali G is exactly how we were treated. She is very arrogant, entitled, that she is right and the patient is to blame for her error. Not sure what's up with the new office manager. I went in to pick up my sun glasses, I was asked to try them on and the fit was great, I asked for my prescription and the original lenses since didn't see them in the case. I asked for them and she said that the lab did not send them back. I told her that has never happened and she said it was not noted on the slip to have them sent back. She said sometimes during the process the lab breaks the lenses. Does she think I was born yesterday? I pop in Rayban lenses in and out all the time never had an issue. On cheaper glasses it's the frame that that cracks and breaks. I asked what can be done about it she said nothing. I asked to speak with someone else and she was proud to state that she was the office manager and she was not going to do anything about it. I asked for a partial refund, thinking I can look up the lenses online and pay for them to avoid further escalation she said no. I told her that in all the time wearing sunglasses I've never had this issue. I asked to speak to the doctor and she said he was with a patient. I told her I would wait. While waiting she kept running her mouth when I was just sitting waiting, so I also started talking back and defending myself. Really not sure what part of the hood they picked her up in but gosh does she have a chip on her shoulder. I told her it was her attitude and the fact she didn't want to take accountability for the missing lenses. She wouldn't just shut up and let me wait in peace. She even went as far as calling me out stating that I've only been at their office one other year, like if I was literally lying about wearing prescription glasses longer than two years, maybe she thinks that's the only office in the world? The reason I switched offices was that my previous doctor closed his practice during COVID and never opened back up, now with this lil drama I'm secretly hating him. lol jk. When the doctor was done with the patient she took him back and said god knows what she said to him but came back and said he would order the frames and possibly take up to two weeks. Not sure what happens in two weeks but I'll go back to pick up my glasses. Not everyone can handle working in costumer service and not everyone is cut out for office management especially working in the healthcare industry. So crazy that in this industry there are shit folks working with patients. I didn't even catch her name but I know she's new, she's the short hobbit looking thing there. Dr. Gilbert, we wanted to write this to thank you for Kami and the wonderful service she gave my family for all these years. We didn't get the chance to say goodbye to her before she left and were hoping you can let her know how much she meant to our family. We will never forget how kind and patient she was to Jennifer and how she took the time to fit her for contacts when she was 11 years old. Then 21 years later she fitted Jennifer's daughter Josie for eyeglasses when she was 2 years old. Along with fitting the rest of our family for eyecare as well. The staff and doctor are great. The staff answer all questions, are very friendly and kind. I had some insurance questions that they went above and beyond to help me with. My exam was thorough but quick. The doctor explained every test to me and the reason they were done. I was never confused and nothing felt unnecessary. He was quick but I wasn't rushed , he made sure I understood my own eyes and I didn't feel like just another patient. They have frames in all different price ranges. They have a nice selection that's not overwhelming and they explain all costs with no hesitation. Everyone here enjoys their job and it shows. I will definitely be going back yearly. read more

The best around by far! I was going to Target optical for awhile until I developed keratoconus. The doctors there were just not experienced enough to help and could never really answer my questions. After regular visits with my ophthalmologist I switched to Dr. Gilbert. He really is amazing and so thorough in his exams. He uses multiple instruments to ensure a perfect prescription. They have a good selection of frames and a lot of trendy/name brand options if that's what your into. 10/10 would recommend especially if you have any eye issues that big chains can't handle. read more

I just started coming to Dr. Gilbert this year. The ladies who work in the office are very sweet and super accommodating, even to my rambunctious 4 year old. When I visited for me they gave my daughter paper and crayons to keep busy. When we visited for my daughter, they remembered me from previously, and were still super awesome to my daughter and Dr. Gilbert was great with her. He even gave me an opportunity to take a picture of my daughter in the chair for her first eye exam! I can see myself coming to this office for years to come. read more

Extremely rude receptionist. Annoying hours. Closed on Thursdays?! What ever happened to regular business hours?! Doesn't help that they shut down for lunch in the middle of the few days they are actually open. Short staffing?! This was my first visit to this office, so I appreciated Dr. Gilbert walking me through every step of the exam to explain what he was doing and why. He was very thorough. The office staff were awesome and were of great assistance to me with frame selection. I was pleasantly surprised by the vast selection. There were frames for all tastes and budgets. I love coming here. This place is the friendliest place I've gone too, in terms of eye doctors. The staff here is simply amazing. Always accommodating the customers and helping out if you have kids. Also they always have a good taste in music, whether it's a throw back to rock and roll or simply good generic music that somehow relaxes you. The examinations doesn't take long but you can always tell they take their jobs seriously. I believe the place is well maintained in terms of cleanliness. If you were to ask they would certainly disinfect anything if you had any concerned. Overall this is a good place if you either looking for a new eye doctor or simply want to get your eyes checked. First visit with Dr. Gilbert today and the staff were all incredibly friendly and thorough. I have always been more satisfied with doctors that can answer my questions before I can even think of them and everyone here knows their stuff. Never left any details out. Let me know what they were doing why and how it is for my benefit. Were very communicative about what my insurance covers what it doesn't and how to work with what I need. This is the best optometrist ever! They did an amazing job for me, ordered the particular brand of glasses for my son witch is made in Spain Nano Vista they ordered it for me in Canada! Terrible customer service. Aggressive tone. Sarcastic. Out of touch. The place is dusty and cluttered. Also, the Optometrist has a computer in one of the exam rooms. He looks over other patients eye pictures while exams are taking place. You can the patients name on the computer screen. Privacy issues. I requested a consultation for lasik online. I got a call the following day, Monday, from the receptionist that I could get in on Tuesday. I took the appointment and asked for an email confirmation. I got one. When I got to my appointment, she said I had no appointment. I showed her my email. Then she asked me what I wanted. She said they don't do lasik and that another doctor in Newport beach would do it for 6k. She told me this without a doctor ever looking at my eyes. Don't go here. read more

Dr. Gilbert's office is rad! I know this because he carries almost every action sport frame brand in his store. I didn't get the chance to have a sit down with him personally, but I did meet Kami (office manager) who was extremely helpful and calls for every update she can make. I came all the way down here from Huntington Beach because my EyeMed insurance recommended them as my in-network provider and I surely wasn't disappointed. Kami allowed me to exchange some float able sunglasses that I bought for a different lens color and special ordered those for me too! Thanks guys, retail would never do that for me. After waiting weeks for an appointment, went to the clinic and a locked door. A woman opened the door (no mask) and rudely asked if she could help us. Told her we had an appt for 10AM. Someone inside the clinic yelled out that the were no appts for 10AM. Sent us away to wait several more weeks for an appt. If there were o 10 AM appts, why didn't they take us in? Not going back.
