Was scheduled for a VA exam with Bryan Mirone. He was thorough in his examination and went over my medical evidence with me in the room asking pertinent questions and providing me with the ability to ask him questions. SoCal Optometry is owned and operated by a USA military vet, which is always a plus. The service from making the appointment to picking up my glasses was on point. The staff are friendly and there are plenty of frames to choose from. I noticed this is a very popular optometry location. They also have Saturday appointments, which for me was a total plus! I am now using my computer glasses that I got from them, and I couldn't be happier. I highly recommend this spot, the doctor takes his time conducting a thorough examination and explaining in detail each step. My eyes are no longer inflamed thanks to the eye drops he prescribed. Had changed to this office after years at another. The appointment was fast for checking in and doing the initial tests. Doctor Mirone made me feel listened to and helped me understand possible options I didn't even know I had! He was very thorough and made sure I didn't have any questions! I went in not wanting to change my glasses frame because finding a new one that feels and looks good and fits my face is hard, but Stephanie found two options and I was convinced on one that is even better than the ones I had. I love this office because the two doctors that I have been seen with are incredible. The visit is always fast and very informative. Wether I have questions or just picking out my favorite yearly glasses. I'm obsessed with sunglasses and always convert them to my seeing glasses. I love the variety and two years ago I wanted a beautiful pair of DG glasses. Long story short the team went above and beyond to locate the pair I wanted to order. Highly recommended and even more amazing for the kiddos. I have witnessed how many kids come in and the doctors make it so easy for families to feel welcomed and supported. In the 20+ years I've had glasses and have been going to multiple optometrists, I've never felt I needed to write a review for one. However my experience here was so poor and the amount of time and frustration from this place warranted a review. I was supposed to get a simple eye exam and contacts fittings like usual and this was my first time. Basically what happened was: - I came back for a follow up appointment to double check my contact fittings. I waited in the reception for an hour, continually asking if the doctor was ready and the receptionist told me multiple times she will check. I ended up literally just getting up and leaving - Came back to pick up my glasses and it turns out they got my prescription wrong. I ended up coming back around five times to get it fixed and they failed to fix it every time. I never had an optometrist that messed up my prescription, let alone this many times. On the final time it turned out they gave my glasses accidentally to someone else! After that I just asked for a refund and was never coming back - The lady did not refund me my appointment fee and told me to request a reimbursement of my insurance allowance and I could use it again somewhere else for contacts since they had my contacts prescription correct. I did this but my insurance company did not process the claim correctly, and now I'm out of my allowance for the previous year. Every optometrist I've been to took care of this for me with no issues This place wasted a lot of my time and money, and the doctors are terrible. I would give it negative stars if I could read more

Such great care is given here from the team and doctors. I always speak so highly of this optometry. I've been with them for years and it included me paving a journey into getting LASIK eye surgery back around 2018 through a professional referral from Dr. Mirone. Since then it's been great routine yearly checkups and colored contact lens purchases for some appearance fun. I thank the doctors here tremendously for always being so informative and helping me feel empowered and part of my care. I'm really glad I walked into this gem, I've been such a satisfied patient. I had moved here from Whittier and have been trying to find an Optometrist for over 2 years now. I had went to Lens Crafters with my son that has Autism and ADHD. My son has two PPO's eye med and VSP. Lens Crafters only took eye med because VSP was out of network. The glasses that Iain wanted was going to cost us $190 for one pair and no transition lenses. I'm disabled and on a very strict budget for 3 years now. I had went here last week for my self to get an eye exam and glasses. Which was absolutely amazing because I got an appointment ASAP and got the cutest glasses ordered for me. The doctor was amazing and the sales lady was so amazing, patient, and sweet. I went back yesterday after finding out the price of the glasses at Lens Crafters and Vanessa was so AMAZING and caring. Sean helped Iain with his glasses and was so AMAZING and great with Iain. My son is very picky and only wanted a certain lens that he will only wear and Sean ordered and got Iain to at least try the transition lenses. I literally cried twice because I was so grateful for their help. I ended up getting two glasses and one with transition lenses my take copay was $67.00! If I could I would give this place a 10+\10. Dr. Mirone and his team are the absolute best. Since moving back to Riverside, I was in need of a solid new optometrist, and they are better than any I've ever gone to. The front desk receptionist is so kind and makes the appointment/billing process a breeze. When it comes to choosing frames, Jackie is so helpful. She knows which frames work with your face shape and she takes the time to measure your eyes so that everything will fit perfectly. Dr. Mirone is very professional and his eye exams are thorough. He asks all of the right questions to ensure you're getting exactly what you need. I'm on the computer a LOT for school, and he gave some great tips and made sure I chose the correct product to protect the longevity of my vision. 100/10. Will always recommend! read more

Since Dr. Jansen left, this office is clearly not the same. Dr. Jansen had a wonderful staff who were friendly and helpful, definitely not now. Dr. Mirone who has taken over the office is a friendly and courteous doctor and I appreciate the fact he also is a veteran as is my husband. It's the older female doctor that is rude, condescending and patronizing. She stated rudely that my eye lashes are too long and get in the way of the exam. Then after the exam she asked me a question and before I could answer she states, "do you understand what I said?" I'm not stupid nor do I have any hearing issues. She was just plain rude. She ordered me trial lenses to try which I was not aware of until I went to the counter to pay for my visit. I stated I don't need trial lenses as I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years. She hears me say that and abruptly comes into the reception area and again acts as though she is god and knows what I want. This was in June. We have been coming to this office for over 10 years and have never seen this doctor, the receptionist tells me she's been here for 7 years, which I don't believe. I also questioned all the new faces there and was told they have worked here for a "long time." I called a few weeks later and asked if my lensed were ordered and was told they would try but then I never heard from them again. Today, August 29, 2024, I called to see if they ordered my contacts and was told, "it's not that easy!" I also question that I had never seen the female doctor before, and she tells me she's worked her for over 12 years. So what is it, 7 years or 12 years, clearly, they are lying. I'm given some crazy reason like, they are not available and a host of other excuses. Either you can order, or you can't, it's that simple. Both Dr. Jansen at the time and Dr. Mirone always ordered my contacts without any problems or issues. Why now?? I was annoyed and frustrated and the girl that answered the phone says, I wasn't the one that originally spoke with you, and I can hear you are getting angry and rude, I need to place you on hold, which she did. After about 5 minutes on hold, I hang up, which is clearly the goal of what the receptionist wanted. The staff and female doctor here is rude, incompetent, unprofessional and lacks any kindness and customer service. Definitely find another optometrist office or you will be subjected to this kind of behavior. The girl stated she would email me my prescription so I could find my contacts elsewhere and as of the writing of this review, I yet to receive it. read more

I would give this a 0 because i made my appointment on the phone than comes Thursday the day of my appointment and i tell them I have an appointment today the lady checks the computer and says theres no appointment for you on here and i show her on my phone that i called them and its the same number of the place she says oh okay and goes by telling me you have a year left for insurance to cover it till December of 2022 that its every two years thst insurance covers it but why couldn't they tell me that on the phone instead of making me go and waist my time and gas because right now gas is expensive. I live far from here. Bad experience the lady didn't even do her job she didn't even put my name on the computer. I don't recommend you go here!!! read more

I don't typically do reviews, however since I have been in this field for about 10 years now I was so disappointed with this place. The optician lacked professionalism, I also completely understand that we went in there knowing we were getting a service that doesn't cost much or anything at all. We went in to have the nose pads changed for my partner, we had looked at his glasses before stepping into this place. Lenses were dirty but not scratched noticeably, so when we got the glasses back we thanked the optician and stepped outside. He noticed that his lens had a big scratch on the inside of the lenses where the nose pads are. I wanted to just speak to her and let her know that she should be more careful next time. She completely denied that she had scratched his lenses and continued to speak about the situation out loud with other employees. I've worked in an optometrist office for years now and it was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. I then spoke to the doctors wife and she stated that she would get back to us and we had yet to have anyone take responsibility and apologize for the situation. The Dr.s wife did say she would replace the lenses however that's not what I was looking for. I write this review hoping that they address the situation and take a different approach next time. read more
