I tried the HinoMaru ramen, fried squid, chicken skin, and chicken karaage. Likes: broth was rich but not overly salty. Broth was hot. Noodles were different from other ramen shops. I would get the squid karaage again. Chicken skin was decent. Chicken karaage was overcooked. Friendly servers. Clean tables. Dislikes: Service was slow despite being 1 of 3 total parties in the restaurant. There were more workers than diners when I was there. I understand why the food might take slightly longer especially if it's being made to order but it would take some time to get drinks or to get the check. Overall the ramen was one of the better ramen shops I've ever been to. I normally don't enjoy Japanese style ramen as much, but I would return here again. 3 appetizers + 3 ramen + 2 beers came to roughly $150 with tax and tip.

This is where I go when I want a hot, comforting bowl of ramen in the neighborhood. This time, went on a Monday after 7:30 PM so it wasn't crowded. Was seated right away. Started with the chashu pork nikuman, which came with 1 bun. The pork was tender, the bun was fluffy, and I appreciated that the sauce was evenly spread so you got some with each bite. The shoyu (Tokyo style) ramen is made with a chicken broth, and came with tender chashu pork, a poached egg, bamboo shoots (menma), yuchoi greens, scallion, and garlic chips. The broth was nice and hot, very flavorful, and not too salty. The noodles had a nice chew to them. The lychee mojito I ordered was so good. It was sweet, with a little bit of tartness from the lime, and some brightness from the mint. The server came by often to refill my water, check on how I liked the food, and if I needed anything else. This was another very satisfying experience at HimoMaru.

OMG so happy to have stopped by and shame on me for waiting so damn long. This is definitely one of the best Ramen joint in NY and very reasonably priced. Broth is super flavorful and noodle is perfect firmness. A must on your Ramen bucket list

Great visit and service this evening. No wait for 2 around 8:30 and friendly greeting and efficient service. Tried the spicy fried Korean chicken, and my only thought was that it was super hot and would've loved if it was a little bit more crunch. The crispy rice sushi was a nice appetizer as well. I love the tonkotsu spicy ramen with honey glazed ribs as it has the wavy noodles (my FAVE!), and rib meat fell off the bone, perfect noodle texture! Thanks Hinomaru team!

Walked in on a Friday night before 7pm and was able to get seated right away. The dinner crowd definitely starts to pile in shortly after 7. We ordered a ramen dish each and it was pleasantly tasty with a reasonable portion amount. Unfortunately we did have to wait quite a while for our ramen, as one of our dishes came out pretty quickly but they had accidentally gave another table our other other so we had to wait 20 additional minutes almost for the second bowl to come out. Seating area is pretty tightly packed and the decor inside is nice and fits the vibe of the restaurant well.

I think I got my hopes up for this place because of these reviews, now I'm convinced that most people here have not been to a lot of ramen spots in general. I got the hinomaru special - and although it's not bad, I found that it was way more hyped than what it actually was. I didn't feel like there was anything that was standout about it than the next random ramen place nearby. The flavors were ok, but not as much depth as I would expect for all these ramen reviews they've received. My boyfriend got the shoyu ramen and I thought it had more flavor than the hinomaru special. They also come with poached eggs and not regular soft boiled. I got an extra poached egg since mine didn't have it, and it's served on a separate spoon to add to your ramen but it was cold and tasted like nothing after I ate it - not worth the extra $3 and definitely nowhere as good as soft boiled imo. We came on a regular week day so it wasn't busy at all and we were seated immediately. However, I think they were either understaffed or just serve in batches and not at the same time. My boyfriend and I got our ramens 8 minutes apart and I did not come there to eat ramen by myself. So I waited until he got his because that's what it means to go out to eat with someone so mine wasn't hot and fresh. Just seems weird to have our main food come out at completely different times and kind of ruins the dining experience. Otherwise, the appetizer (okonomiyaki) was really good!!! And the service, albeit slow, was also exceptional! Quality of food and weird separation of serving times if your party orders something different than you just overall makes it an ok experience at best. I'm glad to try this, but the hype is overstated.

Maybe my hopes were a little too high after I read many high praises for this ramen, but I found it to be a little underwhelming. It wasn't bad, but the vegetarian ramen felt a little unimaginative. The broth had little flavor and there wasn't any creativity to the toppings. It was nice to get some vegetables, but the ginger was the only thing adding flavor and they put too much of it. I wanted to order something else and sub tofu for meat, but they won't do any substitutions, even for dietary restrictions. While the food disappointed, I liked the rest of the experience. The space is nice and felt lively but not hectic. There was plenty of room inside and it didn't feel claustrophobic like some nyc restaurants. The service was just the right level of attentive and polite. If they could up their vegetarian ramen game, it would be a winner.

Hinomaru has always been a family favorite! I got to try their ceviche ramen, which is their summer special. It's topped with lots of sashimi pieces! It was so refreshing to have especially while dining in their outdoor seating. They also have solid ramen options. I didn't get any at this visit but I love their shoyu ramens. Their ramen is perfect during the winter or on a cold day!

Second time here in a whim. This time I tried the uni ramen and fell absolutely head over heels. The broth is creamy, rich, full and just mind blowing. I've been on a Parmesan kick so this dish really tickled my fancy. I would have it over and over and over again. 10/10.

Pleasantly surprised! As someone who frequents Ramen spots, I have high expectations and this spot hit the mark with their rich broths. Parking is tough to find though (it is NY!) Setting: Wooden interior with tons of two and four-tops. Outdoor seating is also available, but can get hot in the summer. Service: Great! Our server was incredibly attentive and consistently checked on us and refilled our water quickly. Food: Really flavorful! I have gotten both the lunch special ($24 includes app, main, and drink) and a la carte options from here. For ramen and appetizers, the price is a bit more than other spots in Queens so it loses a point for overall value.

Quaint ramen eatery in Astoria. Easy to commute in a decent neighborhood. I ordered the tonkotsu shoyu ramen. It was decent, thick pork broth. The pork was tender with earthy mushrooms and ginger. The noodles seemed fresh, since this is Michelin rated eatery, should be fresh ingredients. To add, also affordable. The restrooms are located in the rear and the service was great. The waitress handled the dine in and take out orders professionally. Please tip , if your card doesn't offer tip, please always have cash. This spot is brilliant for date nights or just a solo outing with alcohol and vegan options. Itadaki masu!

Turns out I did not need the additional sides of rice and of Kimchi as far as amount of food goes, however I think I liked the flavor and "kick" of the side of Kimchi over the Kimchi that was in the Ban Chan..... The food was pretty good! As I mentioned it came via door dash and the dasher was on a scooter and it was a few miles away so by the time it got to me it was only warm and not hot but that isn't really something the restaurant can do anything about. However I did ask for utensils to be included and I think that is something the restaurant has control over and I didn't get any utensils so there is that....
