This review is mostly for the quality/portion size of the food since I didn't actually like what I ordered (more my fault than the restaurant's). I got a to go order of the spicy garlic chicken and the portion size was good, plenty of meat and rice. The name, however, did not lie and it was too spicy for me. I ate a few pieces and the meat was well cooked but the spice was overpowering and it wasn't enjoyable enough for me to continue. I'll definitely come back and try something else though since other people seem to leave favorable reviews. I can't review the restaurant itself since I didn't eat in, but when I walked in, there were no customers dining in. Not sure if people primarily take out or if it was just a slow night, but it was definitely quiet when I was there. read more

Staff is friendly. I always order on the counter and take my food to the table thpugh... They will have your order ready between 5 and 10 minutes. Not crowded so you can easily find a place to sit. Food is good, and been a regular customer at this location for many years. A big fan of their teriyaki and California rolls. Their chicken is good and well cooked. This is not one of the best restaurants but it's manageable Japanese places in Redmond. Many times had mistakes in the food ordered. They gave me vegetarian food instead of chicken dish, and they have given me rice when I asked for "no rice". Issue is with the cashier girl who is not attentive, not checking food and all the time busy on her phone chatting or surfing. She has a history of mistakes and keeps apologizing to the owner for messing up. Always check your takeout order before you leave the restaurant!!! Pretty sure something is missing or messed up. Do not assume it's all accurate. Dining area floor needs deep clean. It's dirty as they were not having any dine in customers due to Covid & perhaps they never cleaned their wooden floor. I would never dine in over there. It's never cleaned. This is the dirtiest Japanese resturant I've ever been in. I wonder what the kitchen is like. The miso soup was weak with no tofu or green onions in it. The shrimp tempura was frozen and fried and poor quality. The tofu teriyaki had a strange coating on outside and no additional teriyaki sauce was offered. We know this as a fact since we visited all the other area establishments when Himitsu had to close for repairs because a car flew through their window and ended up in the kitchen. Himitsu's food is great and always fresh. Their menu is extensive and reasonably priced. Anne, the owner, is a jewel and the staff is always helpful. The restaurant is small but tastefully appointed and very clean. During the great lockdown of 2020, weekly visits to pick up Himitsu kept us sane! We love our Himitsu. read more

I stuck with the chicken, so this was merely awesome teriyaki for me. Sounds like the beef teriyaki is what's mind-blowing. Maybe I need to diversify a little bit and try something other than poultry on the teriyaki menus of the world now and then. This place is way up on the ridge, far from...well, everything. Unless you live here, in which case you're probably so glad to have a gas station and a couple other businesses that you don't really care about Yelp reviews. But some of us hold the science of objective teriyaki evaluation, and its attendant field work, as a civic trust. And we find ourselves trooping 6.5 miles past the last known remnants of civilization and deep into the wilds of Redmond. Parking is actually a little tough to come by up here, which could be a good sign or could just be a sign that this little acre is the only spot for miles that's zoned commercial. These guys have clearly carved out a niche, with young teenagers, couples of all ages, families, and groups of buddies all taking tables during my one Wednesday visit. There's the usual panoply of traditionalish sumi-looking art on the walls, joined in one spot by Picasso's Three Musicians, to give it that pan-cultural touch. There are the little curtains, the bamboo accents, and the giant cooler full of Sobe and Snapple: Teriyaki etiquette must be observed. The menu is extensive, maybe almost half a gross of entrees and appetizers. Well, maybe not quite that many, but a lot. There is bento and there are rolls. This is full-service light japanese dining. Order at the counter. The service is chipper, sweet, friendly, solicitous. You couldn't ask for nicer people. The level of assimilation is at that perfect intersection of idioms and heavy accents--the cashier was a complete sweetheart, and said things like "just sec!" and "be right with ya!" with American enunciation but a heavy Japanese accent on top of that. I liked her immediately. Still do. The food is good stuff. The side salad is the usual iceberg mix, probably from a bag, with the least-offensive light ranch they could find. The chicken breast teriyaki is clearly cooked whole, seasoned extravagantly with chili paste (at my special request), and then chopped carefully to still look sort of whole on the plate. They actually put a fair amount of thought into presentation here. Bottom line, everything here is just fine, and if you're ever all the way hell and gone out here for any reason, and you're hungry for teriyaki, you have absolutely nothing to worry about at all. read more

This place used to great and changed ownership a few months ago. It has gone from good to pretty bad pretty quickly. Rice was dry. Chicken tasted like it was cook hours ago - wet and soppy and the tempura was absolutely horrible. It was so hard that it hurts the top of your mouth. read more

I hit this place up last week and they never disappoint. I usually get the staple chicken teriyaki, some times w/beef and some times pork and usually the larger size for a little more. Every entree is just that much better with spice, so I ask for that, which is just enough to make you warm. An order of gyoza is reasonably priced and are notably larger than other places. The eggrolls are large and fried nicely throughout. There salad dressing is ok with the fresh lettuce. They have a fair selection to choose from besides teriyaki, such as vegetarian, bento boxes, stir and deep fry, and yakisoba & soup. They claim they don't use MSG and they do use trans fat free vegetable oil. I've never gotten sick so that tells me it's legit. You may have to park a little ways away, as there is an athletic gym, a Mexican restaurant, and a takeout pizza place nearby, but it's well worth the walk.... read more

This is a nice little teriyaki shop. The only complaint i have is that they put way too much pepper in their wonton soup.

I ordered Spicy Chiken and Gyosa and I got regular "Chiken and Gyosa" non spicy but they just added hot sauce on top, not what I ordered or wanted, the lady at counter is super nice and always giving us extra sauce at not charge that's the only reason I'm coming back.
