We arrived and were seated right away. The waiter came by and took orders. We had a bit of everything; Edamame (complimentary), Gyoza, rolls, Nigiri, Shrimp Tempura, and soups. Was seated at the sushi bar in front of the chefs and was immediately given water and edamame to start. Staff were friendly as I took a while to look over the menu. There were many other families and other patrons at the early dinner hour of 5pm. The space was lightly decorated and they had a basketball game playing on the tv. Service was fast and the chirashi bowl I ordered was beautifully presented. The fish is cut pretty thick and required me to have to take two bites of one slice of fish which I'm not accustomed to. There was also furikake sprinkled on the rice which is not traditional but a nice surprise and a tasty addition. The food was decent and I would rate a 7/10. read more

We stopped by on a Saturday for a quick lunch. We ordered two rolls - the Oto roll and the Godzilla roll - along with soft shell crab for appetizer and ika nigiri. The staff was very friendly and got us seated quickly, which was great. Overall, everyone was nice and attentive. I come here from time to time specifically for their happy hour, and honestly--that's where this place really shines. While this place is small and can't accommodate many people, they are certainly on the expensive side. We got their Nigirii platter which was $60. The quality of fish was good. I was visiting friends in Redmond so we came here for lunch. I just got back from Japan so my sushi standards are pretty high. I'd had takeout from here once before.. Everything was quite good and the service was friendly & attentive. Atmosphere was quiet and calm as there was only one other table occupied nearby. I enjoyed my nigiri sushi and my buddy tried Curry Katsu for the very first time. My other friend had the Tuna Dinner despite it being lunchtime. I had one of the big pieces of his tuna sashimi and enjoyed it. They didn't have the big bottle of sparkling sake we wanted because apparently no one orders it. Oh well. This is my go to sushi gem, the sushi is always fresh and delicious. The price to option comparison is one of the best. The ambiance is warm and relaxing. I never have to wait long for service or consistent presence of a server. This is the first restaurant review I have left in a long time. I'll admit my exposure to Oto Sushi in Redmond is limited, however, I do like to come here with friends and family from time to time. The food is typically really good and it's a great spot to get a dependable great sushi roll. This review is not about the food, but more about how the meal ended. The Hostess came over at the end of the meal and asked us if we needed anything else before we left, which we replied "no, I think we're okay. it was great" and she dropped the checks off. She apparently was unsatisfied with the amount I tipped given she asked me very audibly if I meant to leave a bigger tip. I said "no, I thought that was fine" to which she replied, "it's actually part of our wages so I was just wondering if you wanted to add more to that" after asking for more money 3 times we promptly stood up and left the restaurant. We will not be coming back here. Again, the food is great and good service but this left a really unpleasant taste in my mouth. read more

Open for lunch at noon on a Sunday, Oto Sushi provided a great meal for the four of us at affordable prices in a nice, casual atmosphere. We came a bit early, so had to wait a bit for it to open, but the good news was that it left us off-street parking right in front of the store. We were the first ones in, and the server was friendly and let us choose where we wanted to sit. We ordered a variety of dishes, most to share, and all of it was good. They have a menu like a diner, but with non-binded, laminated pages...they must get mostly maki orders since I could imagine mistakes would be made if individual sushi was being ordered (no paper and pencil to place your sushi/sashimi order). Gyoza ($5.95) - pan-fried. made from frozen, store bought. Shrimp Tempura Roll ($9.95) - solid roll, decent size, tempura was cold but still crunchy. Bluefin Tuna Avocado Roll ($8.95) - great value, very creamy avocado, decent tuna. MT ST Helen Roll ($15.95) - a baked roll. OK amount, a bit messy, but tasty. 911 roll ($12.95) - loved the crunchy outside with fine bread crumbs. Would get this again everytime. Dragon Roll ($16.95) - most expensive roll of the day, because of the snow crab and unagi. Yaki Soba ($16.95) - plenty of soba noodles, mixed with well diced vegetables. Kake Udon ($8.95) - simplest dish to make (even at home), but a good way to warm up on a chilly day with a dependable, filling bowl. Food: the food was ok. I feel that I've been to other sushi places that had a little bit better sauces. When I would pick up the rolls it would fall apart. Service: the service was extra slow. I felt that we wait so long for our food and it was unfortunate that we didn't get any updates as we sat there and waited. Came here a few days ago with my partner before heading to the movie theatre. We came when it just opened for the evening around 4:30pm. It was quaint inside and had an "old-school" sushi restaurant interior. Good place to bring your friends, but a little out-dated for a nice date spot. Service is average, not much to comment about that. It was happy hour, so we mostly ordered from that menu. We ordered a Salmon King Roll, Sleeping Tiger Roll, and two Spicy Salmon Rolls. All three of these rolls were okay, it satisfied our sushi craving but there wasn't anything exciting about these rolls. Doing decent business on a weekday night. Has a center area with a sushi bar and two smaller areas on the wings. We got some chicken kaarage and calamari tempura to share. Both were passable, but not particular good. The kaarage doesn't have a much of crisp. For main, got the miyabi sushi dinner. The sashimi and nigiri are decent. Also includes a choice of a roll, and I got the spicy tuna roll, which has a little bit of spice to it. There is enough raw seafood and rice on the plate to get full, but it's not cheap at $43 before tax and tip. Overall, food was alright. Arrived at 5pm thinking we would beat the dinner rush.  Instead we joined the Happy hour rush. Happy Hour is Monday-Friday from 1130 am-530 pm; however,  the restaurant is closed from 230-430 pm.  We waited about 20 minutes to get seated and got our Happy Hour order in right before 530pm.  We ordered gyoza, hot sake, and a bunch of sushi. We did have to wait a short while for the sushi to arrive but the wait time was very reasonable.  The sushi was delicious. Ordered the Blue Fin tuna with avocado,  Shrimp Tempura roll, Unagi  Avocado roll, and Lion King roll, We devoured everything, soo good!  Even though we were very full, we ordered the Tempura Banana dessert. The menu said the dessert was served with mango sorbet.  Instead we got green ice cream. It was all very good until I remembered that I ordered the dessert for the mango sorbet.  Kind of bummed on the ice cream component. Staff checked in with us multiple times to clear empty plates and ask if we needed anything.  Overall, yummy food and great service. Would definitely go back. read more

It's been five years since I wrote my initial review for Oto Sushi. Since then, I've grown to appreciate a wider selection of rolls and, to some extent, raw fish. Although my rating of 4 stars still holds true, I've ordered takeout from here a couple times during the pandemic and tried more items off the menu. With this said, here's my update! Oto offers one of the largest menus I have seen at a Japanese restaurant. In addition to nigiri, sashimi and traditional sushi rolls, they have over 30 specialty sushi rolls, but it doesn't stop there! If seeking a larger meal, there are various options for dinner plates, curry, noodles and teppanyaki. These meals include miso soup, but they will not provide it for any takeout orders... this is unfortunate considering the number of customers opting for takeout these days. I'd recommend ordering off their Happy Hour menu (Mon-Fri, 11:30A - 2:30P) which has a good variety of sushi and Lunch Specials to choose from. Happy Hour will save you at least a couple dollars from anything you choose which is always a plus! + Sleeping Tiger Roll ($11.95 HH): Oh yes! The creamy spicy snow crab, crunchy cucumber and seared albacore tuna all melded together into one boldly flavored roll. The tuna was also sprinkled with some seasoning which gave it extra umami and finished off with a bit of green onion. There was supposed to be some garlic ponzu sauce drizzled on top, which I didn't detect at all, but I didn't miss it considering the layers of other flavors. + Avalon Roll ($9.95 HH): With shrimp tempura and snow crab inside, topped with avocado, creamy eel sauce and masago, this sounded like a perfect roll to me. Unfortunately, I thought the sauce was unnecessary and there was too much. It was quite sweet and seemed to mask the freshness of the roll. On that note, many of their rolls are actually drizzled in some type of creamy sauce... perhaps requesting the sauce on the side next time would be the best way to go. + Spicy Tuna Roll ($5.95 HH): This simple roll with spicy tuna and cucumber came packed with heat! It's relatively high on the spice scale compared to other sushi spots, but was tasty overall. + Spider Roll ($7.95 HH): A couple of my dining companions ordered this which includes tempura soft shell crab, snow crab mixed, avocado, cucumber, masago and eel sauce. They liked it and would recommend if you're a fan of crab. + Yaki Udon ($10.45 HH): Fresh shredded vegetables and chicken pan-fried with udon. Although the chicken was on the drier side, the remainder of the dish was delicious and shareable between two adults. From a service standpoint, the waitstaff was friendly enough and neatly packed up our order. I'm sure we'll be back again soon for another sushi fix! read more

I go to Oto sushi often. Located close to Redmond transit center. They dont have a great parking space and sometimes you might struggle to find a spot. Restaurant have good seating space. Great for large party as well. Their servers are really attentive. Always offer great service. I have recently started finding Oto losing their spark. Same old menu for I don't know how many years. Also not offering anything special. But one thing to confirm that, they serve good quality sushi. No complaint about it. Note that Oto Sushi IS OPEN during Covid for TAKEOUT only! This is my second time getting takeout from Oto during Covid, and their food and service is outstanding despite the rough circumstances. I always come here for their weekday lunch specials and sushi happy hour! They open at 11:30am on weekdays, and so I placed my order online and my order was ready by 11:45am. Normally I get their sushi and kitchen lunch combo (their tempura is to die for), but I decided to get a couple of Happy Hour rolls this time instead. I ordered a Salmon King Roll and a Spicy Salmon Roll for about the same price as my usual combo. My mom ordered a Sleeping Tiger Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. My brother ordered a shrimp tempura and chicken teriyaki lunch combo. Our total came out to about $52. The Salmon King roll is probably my new favorite roll because it has all of my favorite things in it- crab, tempura shrimp, and of course raw salmon. Plus it was dipped in a sweet eel sauce and topped with a creamy mayo sauce and masago (fish roe). Whoever thought of this roll was a genius! The Sleeping Tiger roll was good and had seared tuna, but I think my roll was ten times better. Their spicy rolls definitely have a kick to them and I love how they keep the fish in one large piece rather than minced into a paste. My brother also enjoyed his teriyaki and sushi combo, but was still hungry afterwards so I gave him some of my sushi. The tempura was ok and held a bit too much oil. The rainbow dinner was a good portion with sizable cuts of sashimi and rolls. California rolls were good, flavorful.
