FOOD Agedashi tofu: it feels like they repurpose me their tofu from another dish for this. It was made with FIRM tofu and was not the right texture. Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake): a bit thicker than I'd like but the flavor was good and had a lot of veggies. Udon: this was a surprise. Didn't use the typical brown memmi broth but rather a clear, maybe dashi?, broth. Full of flavor and kids loved it. Ramen: pretty decent. Noodles were cooked well and I'd definitely order this again if I come back. SERVICE Food comes out erratically as it's completed by the kitchen. Appetizers never came out. Server offered to take the tofu and appetizer off our bill. Overall, great service. VERDICT For the price, this place is quite reasonable. The service pre-pandemic was very hospitable and orderly, but now it seems a bit chaotic, however the food is still amazing. Things that were great: We were seated quickly, bathrooms are clean, food is great! Things that can be improved: The sushi track is still there but is not in use, this looks strange and takes away the main attraction of this restaurant, which used to be the track itself. Another thing is that the service seems to be a bit chaotic, with our order being wrong (it happens I know), but it may have been due to the fact that we had 3 separate people helping us. Another thing that can be improved is that when you pay, the waiter holds the card device, and when you put your credit or debit card in, the default prompt on the screen is 30%, which is awkward to have to ask to change it. This adds pressure to tip a VERY generous amount, especially if the service was not over the top amazing to begin with. I love coming to AA Sushi for their delicious and affordable sushi. I usually visit this place three times a month, and I always enjoy their revolving sushi pricing. It allows me to try different plates and not have to pay a lot. I especially like their salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, tiger roll, and dragon roll. They are always fresh and flavorful. I've only come during weekends because it seems to be the best time to get sushi. During the week, the quality and variety of the sushi can be hit or miss. I guess they have more customers and more turnover on the weekends. But even on weekdays, the service is still great. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Dining in was a bit disappointing because the conveyor belt is no longer operational. Servers are great! Menus are weird and hard to open...what a weird complaint haha. Food was good. Not too much rice. I loved the seared salmon nigiri. Girls enjoyed ikura, gyoza, spring rolls and avocado roll. One complaint from kids is that sauce is on gyoza and cream puffs. Tried out this spot for takeout for the first time - it exceeded my expectations! I ordered a variety of nigiri, a Tokyo roll, and a unagi don bowl as well as seaweed salad and spicy squid salad. The fish was very very good - fresh, not fishy smelling, and extremely well proportioned. Seared salmon toro is my favorite to try at any sushi place and this restaurant did it justice. I also ordered seared yellowtail (spicy) and seared white tuna - both were tasty. Bluefin toro was an adventurous one for me because I'm still trying out fully raw fish - this was pleasant! Both in texture and taste - I actually wouldn't mind eating this as sashimi. The unagi don was very well proportioned and so delicious. The eel tasted great (no weird aftertaste or rubbery texture) All in all - we'll be back for sure. This will be a favorite no doubt! read more

TL;DR: no longer a sushi belt restaurant. Sushi tastes fresh. UPDATE: since COVID-19, the restaurant no longer has the sushi belt running. The owner said they will no longer use the belt because it reduces sushi waste and saves him money. Instead, you will fill out what you'd like to order on a form. Parking: small shared lot but plenty of street parking around the area if you circle around. Atmosphere: background music isn't overpowering. TV plays foreign food channels like making Asian desserts. Service: The restaurant owner is friendly and funny. Wait to be seated, fill out an order form, you will be watered, bill brought to you. Menu: straightforward with photo references, you can inquire about ingredients to your server if you wish. Fill out what you'd like to order on the separate sheet provided. Cream Puffs: I witnessed servers pull a Costco cream puff container from the freezer to serve. So they are not made in house at all. They taste good but not worth the price if you ask me. I think the gyoza is from a premade bag as well. Overall, sushi is fresh and I've never had any abdominal discomfort after each time I've visited, which is a plus. I am a fan of any of the salmon nigiri plates. Came here because it said conveyor belt sushi. But nope, I guess it was shut off because of Covid. First impression seemed to start off good. Sat us in front where the action was. Got us waters and menus pretty quick. And CUT! Switch and bring in their doubles for the Punk'd scene. The 2 things that were pretty good; The Beast Roll, and the Salmon Skin Handroll. They bread the salmon skin, which was odd at first, but really seemed to have added to it in a great way. The Beast was one I really enjoyed, but that was about it. Can't remember much about it after that. The spicy tuna is simply ground tuna with some spicy mayo on it. Not even spicy at all. Their handrolls are weak and falling apart because they were so loosely rolled. Their cut rolls on the other hand were much better in construction. Normally my wife and I can bust through 50-60 bucks worth of sushi if they're good. This place only made it to about 35, and that's with multiple priced plates. 50-60 are one price per plate. Sad thing is we were sitting right by the action and no one ever bothered asking if we wanted to order more. We probably would have too. We decided to leave because the whole visit was just that off-putting. And it seemed that quite a few people there picking up food were not happy either. We decided to try this place for dinner as it was close to home. The place is only open for takeout and they are busy. I had to call a few times before I was able to get through. We ended up ordering: Sashimi platter - 3 pieces of 4 different types of fish (tuna, salmon, hamachi and yellow tail). The cut and fish was fresh and good, but I don't think it's $17 good. The amount was a little tiny in my opinion. California roll - $3 for 3 pieces. I feel that this is a little pricey for california roll. It was a good roll, but again, I feel like I can get the same quality roll for a lesser price. Godzilla roll - this is one of the better rolls, it's supposedly have tempura shrimp cover with seared salmon and unagi, but I didn't taste much of it except the fried part. The flavor is good though. $6 for 4 pieces. Salmon and crab roll - this is probably my favorite, it has a lot of flavor and it's pretty. $2.25 for 2 pieces. Although everything was good, it was pricey for how much you get, I don't think I been to a conveyer belt sushi place that is that pricey. Maybe when they are open for dine in, we will come back to try it and the price will be justified. Oh and the price is weird.
