Gyoza, beef fried rice, general tao's chicken

We always leave satisfied. Been coming here for over 20 years. This is our ultimate favorite place for beef fried rice and all the different teriyakis. Service is friendly, ambience is cozy, and restaurant is clean. Calling for takeout is efficient too.

I got four different rolls and really liked all of them . Seattle roll Dragon Spider roll And the fourth is Escaping me at the moment. I really did like all the rolls. I had the Dragon and Seattle rolls before. They both are good, the Presentation here was nice . The gentleman that was there at the time I ordered did a good job rolling all the food for us and the others that can in and ordered. The The sake I had at the time was good too , but I preferred cold over warm. Will be going back.

    Spicy Tuna

Hands down the best meal during my trip to the Seattle area this spring break. 10/10 recommend the eel roll, sake, gyozas, everything. Chefs kiss!

    Waiting for my sushi!

Japan Ginger is one of those little unpretentious gems that you stumble upon once in a while. This was the best sushi I had in a year. And the last really great place was downtown LA and quite expensive. The service here is impeccable ingredients were utterly fresh and perfectly prepared. I don't know how it's possible that this place is not swamped!

The sushi was good, not bad, not the best... but definitely a nice option to have when you're in the area! I'd come back if craving sushi in issaquah.

    Perfect portion size.

The Seared Ahi appetizer we ordered was incredibly fishy, pungent, and clearly not fresh. Definitely the worst dish we ordered. Spring rolls were whatever. The 2 sushi rolls (Ocean Queen and Outstanding I think) were not good either, but not terrible. These were edible and a relief to eat after the Seared Ahi monstrosity. I was feeling nauseous, but my mom wanted to order an udon to offset the fishiness of the ahi. I told her it'd be a bad idea since I couldn't imagine the udon would be any good either, but she said "How can they mess up udon? It's an easy dish to make." Turns out, you can mess up udon. The noodles were overcooked and limp. At the end of the meal, I was queasy af and disappointed. It's not a super cheap place either, so we dropped like $120 on an abomination of a meal. Service was good though, and the servers were nice. I will not be coming back due to the food quality and taste, but the service and ambiance were solid.

I often dine at mom-and-pop local places seeking neighborhood gems that are worth the drive, as…read moreopposed to ones that are 'good' because it is near you. Zushi Sushi is somewhere in between. I would not say to a Seattle person to purposely drive there. But I will say to folks nearby that it's a worthy restaurant. The place is neat and tidy, not showing its age yet, even though I know it has been opened for years. The service is swift and to-the-point. I am fairly certain this place is Japanese owned. Prices are fairly reasonable without the common 'Eastside tax'. I often find older restaurants to be more reasonably prices due to lower overhead. The Food: Avocado Bomb, $10 - 3.5 Stars Other than a bit too covered with tempura bits, this dish met expectations. The price matches what I have seen in Seattle. Salmon Belly (Sake Toro) Nigiri, $7 - 4.5 Stars Good cut and good white fatty stripes for sake toro. Thumbs up. Lion King, $15 - 4 Stars Menu: California with seared salmon on top and parmesan aioli, unagi sauce, scallion With these type of specialty rolls, presentation is as important as the ingredients, combination, and creativity. This roll as the best out of the three we ordered. Zushi Flower, $19 - 3 Stars Menu: Shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna with seared salmon on top, spicy mayo, unagi sauce, parmesan aioli, and kaiware, red tobiko on top This specialty roll did not at all look like the photo. At $19, it's the most expensive amongst their rolls. Disappointing. The ingredients and taste were fine. It didn't warrant the Zushi namesake, and I don't see 'flower' in its presentation. Cherry Blossom, $15 - 2.5 Stars Menu: salmon, avocado, cucumber, and tuna on top This roll was the most 'man-handled' looking roll amongst the three we ordered. It also did not look like the photo. In one of the pieces, I spitted out a brown piece of something. It turned out to be the tip of the avocado. They graciously offered to take it off the check or make a new roll. Grilled Hamachi Kama, $14 - 2 Stars This was a very dull and boring hamachi kama. Not much seasoning, not much sear, the skin is not crispy, yet the fish is overcooked to the point of being dense. Tempura Oreo, freebie We were gifted a tempura Oreo. Interesting and pretty, but not something I would order. No rating. I wish Yelp would do half stars. I think they are a solid 3.5 Stars. Not enough 'good' happened (other than the comp'd roll) for me to bump them up to a 4 Stars.

However, I was pleasantly surprised and very relieved when the food was piping out when my boyfriend arrived from picking it up. He got the chicken teriyaki while I got the mackerel teriyaki as a reviewer mentioned that they remove all the bones. Mackerel is one of my favorite fishes but I just ate the time consuming and pain of the bones. The teriyaki sauce was sweet and savory and coated the cooked vegetables and spring mix below the entree which was really good. The mac salad was delightful with great textures from the macaroni, onions, carrots, corn and other goodies. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken teriyaki and I also appreciated that it wasn't overly charred or burnt like many other teriyaki joints or sushi restaurants do. My boyfriend mentioned that the lady who greeted him and handed him the food was friendly and accommodating as we wanted chopsticks so she added that in for us. A solid takeout restaurant that is affordable and delicious!

The sushi pieces are a competitive size and the pricing is very fair for the high quality you receive. It's the perfect spot when you want sushi in a more casual, accessible setting. The selection on the belt is excellent and stocked with fresh options, and the sushi chefs are always willing to take custom orders if you are not able to find something on the belt. Despite having lived in Issaquah for ten years and loving sushi, I've never been to this restaurant and after actually eating here, now I know why. One of the things my boyfriend loves about carousel sushi is that it satiates the hunter/gatherer instinct within him so we were super disappointed in the lack of sushi on the conveyor belt the whole time we were there. I understand that there were only maybe two or three other parties in the restaurant so maybe it's not feasible for them to have a variety of sushi on the belt at all times, but it was still unfortunate and not the experience we were looking for. I ended up ordering a shrimp tempura roll from our server, and it was brought to our table. The roll was okay, and tasted the way I expected it to, I just wish it had more eel sauce and spicy mayo on it. With so many other options for delicious sushi in Issaquah, I don't think my boyfriend and I will be returning.
