Take-out counter with tons of food options including bento boxes with sushi, chicken teriyaki, katsu curry, etc. I had their gyudon bowl for $19, which felt kind of steep for a take out place. The best part of Goemon Bento is the freshness and lightness you feel after lunch! It's a simple bento box but each ingredient feels fresh! Ordered Chicken Katsu goemon bento with Vegetable roll. Perfect pairing with Macaroni salad, edamame and white rice. The Katsu was perfect, crispy on the outside and juicy chicken. The tamarind type sauce along with box was good! Chicken Karaage goemon bento was great, the chicken was super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. read more

I was nervous about ordering here as I saw a review that mentioned that the food arrives cold and I'm very against hot foods being cold, the food tastes very different and microwaving it is a no go for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised and very relieved when the food was piping out when my boyfriend arrived from picking it up. He got the chicken teriyaki while I got the mackerel teriyaki as a reviewer mentioned that they remove all the bones. Mackerel is one of my favorite fishes but I just ate the time consuming and pain of the bones. The teriyaki sauce was sweet and savory and coated the cooked vegetables and spring mix below the entree which was really good. The mac salad was delightful with great textures from the macaroni, onions, carrots, corn and other goodies. My boyfriend enjoyed his chicken teriyaki and I also appreciated that it wasn't overly charred or burnt like many other teriyaki joints or sushi restaurants do. My boyfriend mentioned that the lady who greeted him and handed him the food was friendly and accommodating as we wanted chopsticks so she added that in for us. A solid takeout restaurant that is affordable and delicious! read more

Good lunch place for bento boxes. Not a sit down place. Service was quick no complaints

Horrible tasting chicken teriyaki. It tastes like they boiled the chicken and then topped with zero flavor (sweet water) teriyaki sauce. On top of all of that, there was a spider crawling inside. read more

We have been looking for a legit curry kastu place on the eastside for some time and chanced upon bento-ya gomen. It is located in a small shopping area with enough parking. The restaurant itself does not have seating so is mainly takeout. They have a good variety of food on the menu and some dishes and drinks in the fridge for convenience. The food itself was BOMB. The katsu was perfectly fried and crispy and the curry was rich and delicious. It was a bit spicy for kids, but highly recommend all of it. We think this may be one of the best curry katsus on the eastside. The service was decently fast, but I recommend ordering ahead since frying to perfection takes some time. The owners are kind and helpful and authentically japanese. read more

Good Japanese food is hard to find on Eastside, and Bento-ya Goemon looked to be a pretty interesting option that has been on my to try list for some time. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to try while heading east to go into the mountains - we stopped by around 6pm and were able to get our orders placed in. When I was visiting this restaurant, it was only pick-up - mostly due to no seating options in the restaurant. You could tell that this was cozy family owned restaurant. Ordering is done at the cashier and usually they will have to take a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. My order took about 15 minutes for preparation and we just came back to the restaurant afterwards to pick up our orders. I got the Shoukado Bento ($23.50), which was a sizeable bento with rice, sashimi, sushi, teriyaki, and tempura. A good variety of options, with both hot and cold dishes. If you are feeling especially hungry, this would be a solid pick to fulfill that appetite. The tempura was crispy and had a nice crunch - I was a fan of the pepper tempura as that is a vegetable that I don't usually see in other Japanese restaurants in the area. I liked that there was a good variety of fish, from raw to cooked with sauce - they were fresh and had good flavor. The tuna sashimi was meaty and the grilled salmon was tender. The pickled vegetables in the middle of the bento was a nice touch, as it provided a palate cleansing crunch as a transition between the big variety in the box. In the end, I would say this was the most variety packaged into a bento box I've had in Seattle so far. There have been other Japanese restaurants that don't give you this amount of food and variety on the Eastside, and this is definitely one of the more solid restaurants in the Issaquah area. I would like to revisit to try the other options that Bento-ya Goemon has to offer! (4.5 stars!) read more

Really friendly service at this takeout-only restaurant owned by a Japanese family. Pork katsu curry and Maranouchi bento was great - love that the bento had a nice mix of everything from teriyaki chicken, salmon, California roll, tempura, veggies etc. Everything was delicious and packaged super neatly. They also offer desserts catered by a local bakery called Pantry Mittens but those sadly don't get delivered until last afternoon for anyone curious! Will definitely patronize them again the next time we're in the area! read more

Don't know why this place still has customers, bad taste with poor service. Bad Taiwanese restaurant in the area

My husband picked up dinner here last night! We ordered the shoukudo bento and the pork katsu and added a miso soup. We loved the variety of the bento box and the sashimi tasted very fresh. We also really liked the pork katsu (nice and crispy) and went great with the mac salad! The only thing was the miso soup tasted under seasoned and pretty bland like there should have been let salt added. But other than that, everything else was really good! read more

Clean, delicious and fresh with delicious food and nice service people. We enjoy all flavors of their bento for assorted combinations!

No room to sit and they appear to be family owned? Don't get me wrong, the food is always GOOD and the people behind the counter are always nice. I found my grabbing food on the way home 2 or 3x a week before , enjoy! read more

We dropped off some returns at UPS next door and stopped by here. We ordered 5 bento boxes- (2 katsu, mackerel, tempura, and tofu). Took about 15 minutes to get our food. The total was about $80. It's a small little place for basically takeout. The gal was nice and professional. Their bento box setup is so pretty with all the colors and the food arranged just so delicately. This is my second time having lunch here and we will be back. I like that it's close to lots of other stuff. Parking can be tricky though - tight spaces and lots of cars. read more

We have lived in the eastside for years and just came across this gem that I had been in Issaquah for a bit. All take out only. My boyfriend and I could not agree on teriyaki vs. sushi and this was a great compromise as the special combination we ordered has a bit of everything that can fit anyones palette. Sushi, teriyaki, tempura, rice, veggies etc, and cooked grilled salmon. Every section was quality and we will be back and have already shared it out with our other friends and family if they are in a pickle for take out to go here. Looking forward to trying other menu items. read more

We stopped by this little place in issaquah. It's a tiny place without a restroom or any seating area. Great for take out. Food was ready in 20 min. They offer to bring it out to the car. Chicken shared a chicken katsu bento box which definitely had enough chicken for both girls. My husband and I had the lunch special with grilled salmon and spicy tuna roll. It's a nice presentation and I think it's a good amount of salmon, which was well cooked but slightly under seasoned. I loved the macaroni salad! The spicy tuna was spicy enough but a bit too salty for me which is strange because I can't recall ever a time complaining that a sushi roll is too salty Would I come here on purpose again?? No I don't think so. But if I lived or worked close by, it would be a convenient take out location. There is also a small selection of desserts. read more

Presentation was great as was the service. The food, however, did not impress my picky eaters. I had a Chirashi bowl. The fish tasted very fresh. Others, who ordered bento boxes, were less pleased with their food. I did grab a soufflé cheesecake which was a hit, but it is made by a local bakery, not this place and everyone loved it. read more

Bento-ya Goemon was recommended to me on separate occasions by two different sushi chefs. The restaurant is small and takeout-only (delivery available through apps), and there is parking throughout the plaza. Service was amazing here too. The food was beautifully packed and absolutely delicious. The only issue is that the tempura wasn't crispy after opening it up at home, but that was to be expected. What a real nice surprise! We were literally just driving past this plaza to get lunch down the road when I noticed Bento-ya Goemon's storefront. I changed my mind about where to get lunch and decided to get a bento from here instead. I ordered the lunch special Goemon bento with karaage and California roll. It was ready in about 5 minutes! Everything in the bento was well made and had a great balance overall. The karaage was fresh and juicy, and although it was not super crispy, it had a good, humble flavour. The California roll was outstanding and really impressed me. The rice with plum seasoning was also very pleasant and added dimension to the flavours. Lastly, the tamago was a tasty finish. I am definitely coming back to try more of their food! read more

Bento-ya Goemon - Jan 2023 - Lunch special bento (with karaage and California roll). Delicious! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Issaquah, Washington

First off, be aware this is a strictly take out location. And a very busy one, especially on Friday night. Best to order ahead, so I learned, it was a 1/2 hour wait, for walk in orders, and that was early! No worries, plenty of places nearby to check out while waiting. I ordered the Issaquah bento box, which had salted salmon, along. With a avocado roll, pasta salad, cooked veggies, edamame, and tomago, lots of flavors and different dishes combined. I also ordered a Tempura shrimp roll. Service was friendly, quick, and helpful with suggestions. Plenty to eat, Salmon was delicious, if I had one sorta complaint, it would be that the sushi rolls could have been rolled a little tighter, but other than that, a delicious meal, especially since I've been craving a bento box. Great service, good food, order ahead. Yelping on, God bless. read more

There aren't places that offer bento style food. I'm used to going in and seeing the bentos premade and ready to purchase. Not here. You need to order what you want then wait for it. Which may take 30-45 min. Luckily there a few stores nearby to kill time. I did see most people just pick up there phone orders. So you should do that before going here. We ordered 2 of the Shoukadou-chix teriyaki, grilled salmon, shrimp & veggie tempura, tuna and salmon sashimi, 1/2 cali roll, edamame & tamago. And chicken katsu bento. Overall the portions were reasonable. But it was just ok. It seemed a lot orders for the chic karaage. So maybe next time we'll get that. read more

As a regular take-out only spot, Bento-ya Goemon's normal operations seemed largely uninterrupted by today's new dining standards in light of the pandemic. With this said, they continue to excel in what they do best... cooking quality food and creating the most presentable bentos I've ever seen. They are works of art! Two of us each ordered a Makunouchi Bento ($17.50) which were filled to the brim with tempura shrimp and veggies, a mini piece of grilled salmon, teriyaki chicken, California Roll, edamame, cooked vegetables, rice and a couple other small items. When eating out, there's nothing I enjoy more than tasting a bite of everything, so this bento is my absolute dream! From the crispy tempura to the salty / sweet teriyaki, fresh California Roll, and little portion of tart seaweed salad, this was a diverse mix of both textures and flavors. My favorite elements of the bento were tied between the California Roll (a general favorite of mine) and the tempura which included a generous serving of three shrimp and various vegetables. A couple components missed the mark for me. Unfortunately, while the salmon was moist and cooked well, I didn't taste any grill flavor and the piece was much smaller than anticipated. I barely consider it to be a main item of the meal since it was literally only two bites worth. Additionally, the chicken teriyaki was tasty, but did not have the char that I always crave. It also could have used more sauce to coat the meat and for drizzling over my rice. It's easy to order through their website, which they advertise can be ready in 30 minutes. When we arrived, our food was sitting on the counter already bagged, so we were easily in and out. The single employee at the counter was friendly, respectfully wore a mask and kept a safe distance. In addition to a few bento options, they offer a number of different entree plates served with rice and pasta salad. They also have some bowls and sushi roll options to choose from. I know I'll be back again for the kalbi or katsu... probably both! read more

Note that Bento-ya Goemon IS OPEN for TAKEOUT! Just call ahead of time or order online through the app on their website. I was craving Japanese food yesterday and so I convinced my family to get takeout from Bento-ya Goemon. My mom and I had been here before for lunch, but we thought my brother and dad would not get full off of their bentos. However, we made extra rice at home and it proved to be enough to satisfy their hunger. We ordered the Shokadou bento, the Goemen bento, the Sukiyaki, and the Chicken Teriyaki bento. We called our order in and our food was to be ready in 25 minutes. My mom and I drove over and we received our food within a couple of minutes of arriving. The hostess was very friendly and efficient. She was also wearing a mask. I had the Shokadou because I really wanted some sashimi. Both the salmon and tuna sashimi were tender and fresh. The California rolls were also freshly made and had a soft texture. The tempura compartment included shrimp, eggplant, white sweet potato, yam, and some sort of mild green pepper. It was not overly greasy which was a plus. Both the chicken and the salmon were okay, but nothing out of the ordinary. While I did not try the other bentos, my dad said he wished that the chicken was more charred in his chicken teriyaki. My brother also wished that his sukiyaki had more broth, but maybe there are different types of sukiyaki. With only a select number of Japanese restaurants on the Eastside, it is likely that I'll come back here for lunch. However, I can't say it will be my number one go-to for Japanese food. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service, 5/5 for health and safety standards read more

Went here to grab lunch. Service was great. I had questions about what a couple options came with and the Server was great helping me decide what to get. The wait for the food was quick. Price for the quality and volume of food was fantastic. I will be honest, wasn't expecting much from this hole in the wall. But I was in the area and needed to grab a bite. I will now be making special out of the way trips, just to grab bentos from this place. I got the shrimp tempura bento. 5 shrimp, PLUS assorted tempura veggies, scoop rice and scoop mac salad. It wasn't like Hawaii Mac salad, but it was fine. I was super stooked at how much fresh tempura they gave. More than most sit-down tempura entrees. AND it was made fresh not reheated frozen tempura, which I was half expecting since the server told me they give 5 shrimp plus veggies. read more

Since I was passing through Issaquah during lunch time I figured I'd get something there for lunch today and fell upon Bento-ya Goemon while scrolling through yelp. I ordered to go by walking in. They have a sign up saying only one person inside at a time and to wait outside or in your car and they'll deliver it to your car if you decide to wait there. It's a decent sized bento and what I really enjoyed was the fact it had small amounts of extra sides. Mine had a little bit of seaweed salad, some edamame, a bit of Tamagoyaki and tempura fishcake besides the larger sides of rice and macaroni salad. I think the weakest part of the bento was probably the salmon. It wasn't bad by any means but if I was to come back, I would likely try a different meat option. read more

The first time I came here was last year and I was not impressed with the poke bowl, I thought the fish was t fresh and everything just meh. HOWEVER! On my most recent visit, we got the bento (I mean that is their name sake) and it was good! I got the karrage bento and subbed my rice for seaweed salad (no additional cost). My first bite of the karrage was "dang this is salty" but then my next few bites when I squeezed lemon on it was more like "okay, this is better." The mac salad was mega good, the flavor wasn't intense or too rich it was creamy and just really nice and mellow. The seaweed salad *baseball hits bat* so good! Not slimey, not overpowering, just right. Gf got the Makunouchi bento and it was huge! She really liked everything in it. The California rolls were better than some other places, the tempura was good and not over batterer, the cooked veggies were seasoned well. We will come back! Tip though, don't come in on a Friday night. Service is rushed because they are slammed and because of Covid only 1 customer is allowed in at a time. read more

We love this local, small business! It's Family owned and they truly care about their customers! They only do take out, but it's absolutely perfect for covid time. We love getting their bento options. In our most recent order we got the Shoukadou bento which included Chicken teriyaki, grilled wild salmon, tempura, sashimi, 1/2 California roll, edamame and tamago! It was a perfect balance & amount of food. I honestly ate the tempura in the car while it was still crispy and saved the rest for when we got home. My husband got the chicken Katsu curry and it was definitely a smaller portion than their bentos, but still a decent amount of food for the price. In the past, I tried their king salmon special and unfortunately it was little more on the cooked / dry side for my liking, but to be fair I normally like my fish medium rare and not cooked all the way through. I should of maybe requested them to cook it medium rare if possible, but we were in a bit of a rush that time around. We also tried some of their desserts, they had an opera cake and light Japanese's fluffy cheesecake along with panna cotta. We went with the fluffy cheesecake and it did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone! They have great take out options and are reasonably priced! We love supporting family own businesses and will definitely continue to come back for their bentos. read more

I was in the area and never heard of this place, but craving teriyaki, so when I saw Bento-ya, I stopped in. So glad I did. This is an order to go Japanese restaurant only, no dining in, with a great selection of bento, teriyaki, seafood, sushi, bowls and more. I ordered the makunouchi bento, which came with miso soup and rice. They told me it would be a 20 minute wait. Worth it. This is grilled salmon, tempura, California roll, chicken teriyaki, edamame, tamago and cooked veggies. Divine. This sounds like a lot of food, but check out the photo - just the right size for a bento box. I was sublimely stuffed. Everything was fresh, cooked just right and could not have been improved upon in any way. I had also purchased a panna cotta which is made by Pastry Mitten, an external vendor that sells their desserts here. I ate it the next day. It was a yuzu flavored one, and it was perfection. My bento box was $15.50 pretax. I think that's spot on. They have a nice selection of snacks too like Poky, Shrimp Chips and Choco Baby. For beverages, Japanese pops are available like Ramune, they have San Pellegrino (my choice) and Calpico, plus teas and sodas. The food at Bento-ya Goemon is consistently good! It's the most authentic Japanese food I've had in Issaquah since Sushiman closed. My favorite is the Shoukadou bento.
