What a wonderful hidden gem of a restaurant tucked inside a mall. I saw that they had decent reviews on Yelp and a lunch special (12.99) which piqued my interest. I was warmly greeted and my food arrived quickly. Wow! I was shocked at the first bite. The curries were sooo flavorful and the chicken in the butter chicken curry was so tender. Came on a Monday at 12:20pm and only 1 one other 6 person table in restaurant dining and after ordering, it still took 35 minutes for one lunch to arrive and 2nd entree took 40 minutes to arrive. They didn't even bring the naan we ordered while waiting for the entree, even after we asked at least to have naan brought out. Not sure how it got more than 4 stars for such a slow service . However, food was tasty and well seasoned but not worth the slow service. No air conditioning either. 4 stars for food quality and 1 star for service and no AC. read more

Dined in and had a good experience. We ordered veg momos, kadai paneer and daal makhni with tandoori rotis. I liked the fact that they didn't prepare the entrees with too much oil (otherwise usually other restaurants add a lot of oil in the food they are preparing), so the food felt lighter to eat & didn't feel heavy afterwards, just satisfied! The tandoori rotis were also the nice thin kind (Other places its usually thick and then we need to add more butter on top). Overall i enjoyed the food and the momos were steamed and yummy too :) Service was nice! :) Will come back to try other things on the menu! read more

We are super picky eaters and have usually felt underwhelmed going out to eat in this area, but the food here was excellent. We had the biryani and butter chicken with butter naan, it easily provided dinner for my husband and I last night & there was enough leftover to have it for lunch today and when I telllll you, there was not a grain of rice nor a drip of sauce left, I MEAN IT it was even better today. My only complaint is I wish naan was included in the meal; however, everything was so amazing I don't mind paying a la cart for these items. Actually might be the best butter chicken I've ever had. Located in a mall. The food had absolutely shocked me. I liked the Momos as well, but the butter chicken absolutely blew me away. I've ordered from them twice since I ate here in person through Uber eats and I must say it's been an absolute treat each time. I had a delicious burrito roll (chicken naan wrap), which was super flavorful, and the portion was huge. Nepalese spices are kind of similar to Indian, but with a bit more of a tangy kick. My wife got the tandoori chicken momos, which were also great -- like Chinese xiao long bao, but roasted in a fire oven, giving the skin a nice char. (BTW, the order comes with 8 momos -- my pic shows only 4 because we had already gobbled down a few.) Service was very friendly, although the food took a little while to prepare (and we were one of only two parties there at the time) -- at least we know the food was made to order! The restaurant decor is modern and completely refurbished from the previous establishment. This Nepal restaurant is an unassuming restaurant that has two entrances either through the mall, or from outside Nice very lowkey vibes with a calming atmosphere. One server who is has a great charisma and personality and makes sure you are properly served. Menu has a lot of variety of nepal/indian food. We got their tandoori chicken momos which are pretty decent. Paneer curry was also delicious and very flavorful Chicken biryani is a lil spicy but the yogurt that comes with it calms the spice down. Garlic naan was fantastic and aromatic. 10/10 would recommend if you ain't feeling the food court or just wanna try something different. Our server took our order like usual, food came out in an average amount of time, but after that it was complete radio silence. we sat there for over an hour before anyone came to check on us. luckily we were chatting so we didn't particularly need anything, but if it was literally anyone else it would be unacceptable. There was a woman next to us who was also abandoned by the servers and she had to go into the kitchen to find someone because she needed to get to go boxes, pay and leave. they brought her to go boxes, then disappeared for another 10 minutes. she once again had to go to the kitchen for them to let her pay. in fact, the server (not even our original one, we had zero clue where he went until we were leaving and saw him come out to clear plates) ONLY came to check on us when she was bringing the other woman her to go boxes she got up to ask them for. I wanted dessert, but I was not about to wait another 45 minutes for someone. it was super ridiculous and completely unprofessional--it wasn't even an instance of under staffing, because there were NO servers on the floor whatsoever during that hour/hour thirty we were there. they must have been in the back talking or something. definitely never coming back.. read more

We come here for early dinners on nights I haven't made dinner! It's located at the Westgate Mall (you can enter from inside the mall or outside). Near JCrew Factory and some Sushi place. Vegetarian's POV (who btw loves Nepali food) Items we've ordered: *Saag Panner: (Saag is blended not chopped so you'll get a more purée-d version of this dish). It can be made mild, medium or spicy. I get this all the time. *Kadhi Paneer: really really yummy. I honestly love their version. *Nepali Thali: it was really filling and satisfying. It comes with a lot of rice. *Chow Mein: good but more on the oily side; but if you just each from the top of serving dish you'll be fine; oil is usually pools at the bottom. *Roti: not like your usually blackened and burnt in Tandoor. Nicely toasted and light brown, I get this to be "healthier" and enjoy it thoroughly. *Butter Naan: can never go wrong with this choice! read more

I love me some Nepalese and Indian fusion food! Found this spot while looking for Indian food near the Campbell area. It's located in the Westgate mall in Saratoga. The vibe is very much food court/cafeteria and the smell of the spices is very strong. Doesn't bother me but I can see it being too overpowering for some. The service was alright. It was confusing whether we ordered at the register or sat down first. We kinda did both? Lol. We had to try their vegetarian momos and chai. The chia was fantastic (not pictured because I enjoyed it so much I forgot to snap a pic). The momos were alright. They were lacking in flavor but their yummy sauces helped. For my main dish I ordered the veg thali. I can't name any of the foods featured in the thali but most of them were delicious. The rice was a little on the hard side and the naan was just alright as well. A little bland. My friend ordered the butter chicken and she really enjoyed it because she said it had a mellow flavor. Might be good dish for someone who is interested in trying Indian food for the first time! The answer: yes.⁣⁣ One of the original fusions, Nepalese food was born in Nepal, as trade routes turned the landlocked country into a delicious nexus for Chinese, Indian and Tibetan cuisine. ⁣⁣A cursory search of the Yelps doesn't turn up much in the way of brick-and-mortar Nepalese restaurants. But with Himalayan Magic Masala's opening at the Westgate Center just a few months ago, we thankfully have one more dining option. The Good: *This can be a great place to go if no one can decide what to eat, as the diverse menu should have something for even the pickiest foodie. *On the Chinese side, we had the Chicken Chowmein, and it was a tasty dish. The noodles were a little thinner than the standard American-Chinese place and a bit salty. However, once combined with the sautéed veggies and chicken, it all evened out. *From the Nepalese menu, we had to order their most famous export: the momo. Momos are a tasty steamed dumpling filled with savory and spicy goodies, such as chicken, pork, and vegetarian-friendly options. ⁣⁣We ordered the Chicken Momos with jhol and the Tandoori Chicken Momos. The Tandoori spice had a nice crust of tandoori spice on the outside and soft spicy chicken and ginger mix on the inside. The standard chicken momos were pretty great, but once mixed with the jhol, which is a watered-down version of their achaar dipping sauce, they really reached next level deliciousness. *For our Indian sampling, we ordered my all-time favorite butter chicken (aka murgh makhani) with some garlic naan and a mango lassi to wash it down with. The butter chicken was quite good and had all the right flavors; my only qualm is I would've liked it a bit sweeter for my tastes. Otherwise, it was perfection. Naan was good, albeit not that fluffy, and the lassi was perfection as it had good strong mango flavor and wasn't too sweet. The Meh: *Service was fine for the most part. Everyone was nice enough, but everyone wasn't overtly so, but tbh that might be a cultural thing. *Décor and overall feel of the place is more of a cafeteria than a restaurant. Kinda like one of those delis in a business park. Other than the giant Buddha statue, there really wasn't much to speak of. The Ugly: *The smell of incense and specifically nag champa is very overwhelming when you first walk in. I don't personally mind the smell, but when you walk in a restaurant, you want to smell the food and not like you just walked into a temple, but that's just me. This was my first time having momo and it looks very similar to an xlb but this one was packed with meat on the inside. Would definitely come back for more. Came to Himalayan Magic Masala for a late lunch the other day. Employees are all super nice and welcoming. I think I just discovered my new favorite Indian restaurant. Here is the run down. Mango Lassi: The mango lassi was a flavor explosion in my mouth. It had a strong flavor of mango and was nicely balanced out by the thickness of the yogurt. It was sweet but not overly sweet. It was the perfect beverage. Pani Puri: Pani Puri was extremely delicious and refreshing at the same time. It had elements of tang, sweet, and spicy. The pani puri was crispy and light and airy. The inside was filled with potato, herbs, and spices. It came with two sauces or "waters" which made the dish super refreshing. These one biters are definitely addicting. Butter chicken: The butter chicken was the star of the show. Chicken was tender and moist, cooked to perfection. You just bit right through to the flavor packed chicken with every bite. The butter chicken had the perfect ratio of creaminess and tomatoe-iness. It was savory, garlicy, and seasoned extremely well. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and will be back to try the rest of their menu items. Definitely a hidden gem! read more

I ordered the gobi Manchurian, chicken tikka masala, mustang's aloo, 2 of the garlic naan, and mango lassi to-go. My favorites were the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and mango lassi - all of which I would definitely re-order in the future. The chicken was tender and the curry was thick and perfect to scoop up with the garlic naan. I always like dipping the garlic naan into the curry so I ordered 2 orders of the garlic naan (each order comes with 2 pieces) and I found that 2 orders were the perfect amount of garlic naan to go with the curry. The mango lassi was also sweet, thick, and creamy just how I like it. The gobi Manchurian was good but I don't think I would order it again. the cauliflower was dipped in some kind of batter (or maybe corn/starch powder) and sauteed and the sauce was very reminiscent of Chinese sweet and sour sauce. Although it was good, the texture and flavor profile was not what I expected when ordering Indian food. The mustang's aloo was also good but I don't think I would order again just because it seemed like a basic potato dish I could make at home. This is a spanking new restaurant that has opened inside the Westgate Mall at the very entrance, near the food court. Tastefully decorated and with huge seating area, this restaurant is ready for hordes of clientele swooping down to get a taste of the Nepalese / Indian faire that they have on menu. We stopped in for a quick bite and eventually ended up ordering dinner, which we partly ate and partly took home as leftovers. I ordered the Chicken Chow-Mein, a staple dish whenever at a Nepalese place. This is nothing like the Chow-Mein served in Chinese restaurant, rather a morphed Indianized version full of varied veggies and chicken slivers and very flavorful. They did a very good job and dish was outstanding. Also this was a huge portion something that could be shared between 3 and still have leftovers. The better half ordered the Chicken Momo with Jhol - huge chicken dumplings served soaked in the traditional Nepalese sauce. This too was made very well and the flavors were very true to its roots in Nepal. Again portions were huge and we took most of it home as leftovers. Be aware the chili sauce served along side the Momos is really spicy. Partake at your risk ! We also ordered the Nepali Thali with Goat Curry - the goat curry was underwhelming as the meat was not cooked till tender and had too many bones in place of meat pieces. But the other items on the Thali, like the Daal and the vegetable pickle were superb. Chicken Chowmein medium spicy- it was our regular noodles but the chili sauce made a vast difference to the taste... I enjoyed it very much. Traditional Nepali Thali with Goat- we love Nepali Thali very much u get to taste various things like the black eye peas curry vegetable , green leafy vegetables like Bok Choy , goat curry, dal ( yellow dal) which was delicious, my most favorite pickle potato, peas with mustard & some carrots,cucumber slices, rice & flatbread (roti) with papad. Everything was delicious... only thing I found that some pieces of goat meat was very chewy due to the muscle so had little difficulty ...this usually happens when there are different parts of meats mixed.... Usually I prefer the leg pieces. Other then that everything was very good. We loved all the flavors , we managed to finish the Thali between both of us & tasted few bites of noodles & little bit of momos rest we packed for later... This is an Indian/Nepali restaurant that truly understood the assignment: great food, great atmosphere, excellent service. The momos are a must-try, the butter chicken is my son's new favorite food, and the mango lassi is always on-point. My personal favorite, though, is their vegetarian thali, which has satisfying amounts of a variety of yummy things.
