The lunch Buffet is a must try. Especially if you're new to Indian food. There's a wide variety of dishes, and they don't add as much heat here. I personally like spicy but it can get too much sometimes but here, it's a nice balance. They have different selections depending on the day of the week, with some staples served everyday. My husband loves the goat curry (available Tuesdays and Saturdays.) They offer a couple of desserts and of course chai. They bring fresh naan to your table and keep it coming fresh as you need. Its a big restaurant and I noticed a lot of large parties come in. There is even a separate room for the large parties if needed. The service is attentive and nice. I've come here at least a half dozen times with large parties and it's the most reliable and affordable large group dinner places left in the Bay Area. My parents live in East Bay but love to drive down here (even if it's an hour away) when meeting any large groups since they've got a private dining room which is super convenient and private for large events. At lunch time they have a lunch buffet with a great election of medium spicy veg and non veg options and unlimited masala chai and the service is very on top of refilling waters and getting back to us in the dining room as soon as possible. My favorites are any paneer dish and the gol gappe/pani puri they have during lunch. Got the Butter Chicken with a side of breads (Lachcha Paratha and Garlic Naan). I got it delivered so can't talk much about the atmosphere or the service, but the food was great. Exactly what I think of when I want Indian food, thick / creamy curry that's flavorful with a hint of spice without it being overbearing. I was bragging about it work the next day and my South Asian friends already knew about it and even had food catered from there for special occasions so clearly I'm the last to know about this great find. We were simply looking for a place to eat before a show at the south bay musical theater and this was the most convenient. Wow! It's better than the Royal Taj near by. A lot better! They offer an Excellent lunch buffet at The Mynt! Only Indian buffet I have been able to find anywhere close to San Jose. Good variety of vegetarian and meat choices; the food quality is great, especially the Saag Panner and Dahl. Included a refreshing salad with gourmet greens and strips of mango. The kheer was the best I have experienced, the consistency just right not soupy like some. Very pleasing experience. read more

We first visited when we moved to bayarea almost 14 years ago. I recall having Pani puri on their buffet back then, to my pleasant surprise they had Pani puri on the buffet when we visited recently again. Restaurant clearly caters to a very westernized palate. I am sure they did well back when there weren't as many authentic Indian restaurants in this area. With the influx of some really outstanding Indian restaurants, some even better than what we have back in India this restaurant now pales in comparison. They had buffet for lunch on Saturday. Not a lot of items on the menu but they had typical Indian dishes like saag, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, pakora, flavored rice etc. They also had Pani puri and pav bhaji. Naan was served tableside. Across the board the dishes lacked flavor. They were fresh so no complaints there. The Pani puri water was sweet instead of its typical spicy, sour taste. The buns they used for the pav bhaji were dense and sweet instead of light and airy. This sort of Indian food is typical of small towns which do not have a large Indian population. We live in the neighborhood and have driven past Mynt for years but never stopped in. Truthfully, ordering Indian food makes me nervous because nothing is familiar to me so I'm always skeptical about what to order. My Dad's 70th was yesterday and he decided he wanted Indian food and decided to try The Mynt and I'm so glad we finally went!! We arrived (party of 6) at 6pm on a Friday and was a little concerned because the place was empty with the exception of one other table. But the dinning room was lovely with dark woods and they even have a very nice private room for large parties. And can I just tell you how truly fantastic the service was?! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm welcomes and friendly smiles. There's A LOT of menu options which was a little intimidating for this newbie. Everything sounded good though. My Dad knew he wanted the grilled lamb chops and we asked our server to help us order the rest which he gladly did. Everything was served family style which was awesome. Here's what we had: SAMOSAS - pea and potato with two really yummy dipping sauces. GRILLED LAMB - super flavorful and brought to the table sizzling. Naan - assorted basket of yumminess RICE - we got two kinds and I forget what they were but the veggie one was our favorite. YELLOW LENTILS - these were mild in flavor and in heat which my mom liked as she can't handle to much spice at all. TANDOORI CHICKEN - this was really flavorful with a mild spice level. Served sizzling over grilled onions. MANGO CRÈME BRULE - our server brought this out knowing it was my Dad's Birthday which I thought was really nice. My daughter got the whole restaurant to sing to him. The dessert was tasty and we each got a nice little bite after a delicious meal. We also had another dish which I can't remember the name of but it was literally spicy peppers in sauce. A little too hot for my taste but good flavors. Over all this is a gem that we've been sleeping on for far too long. I can't speak highly enough about the service and food. The only thing I'd say is the room felt really dark once the sun went down. But other than that, I'd go back to try some other items on their very extensive menu. Oh! Can't believe it took me 25 years to try Indian food for the first time and I feel like I've been daydreaming about butter chicken ever since my visit at The Mynt. My friend insisted on taking me here as it is a classic and reminds her of authentic flavors at home. Sign me right up please! The interior space was pretty nice and clean, and the service provided was also great! I can see how parking can be limited especially during lunch and dinner rushes, just a note to be mindful of. The samosas were so crunchy and fluffy in the best way possible. Taking a bite into the soft pillowy goodness of potatoes and peas is a feeling I'd like to savor. I enjoyed the tandoori chicken, however I definitely had a few more helpings of their amazing butter chicken dipped with garlic naan. I could eat that combination for days on end!! Ordered takeout this past weekend and the food was great. I got the peas pudina tikki appetizer, malai kofta and the nilgiri paneer tikka. Everything tasted awesome and just like eating back in India (albeit a little less spicy). At first, i felt it was a bit expensive when placing the order,but the quantity given was quite decent. Came for father's day buffet. We come 2-3 times a year. I was disappointed with the small non-vegetarian selection. For Pao bhaji, my wife suspected they were hawaiian rolls, which contain eggs. My wife does not eat eggs. Upon inquiring, the staff confirmed that the Pao contained eggs. Furthermore staff confirmed that even the naans being served at the table contained eggs! This was very surprising! The staff graciously made tandoori roti, which did not contain eggs, for my wife. Overall, the food quality and taste seems to have gone down. read more

I usually order online so I can't say anything about service, but I enjoyed everything I have tried here (saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, naan, samosas, shaam kofta, tariwala chicken curry, and so on) it's all good! This was my family's first time back to the particular restaurant post pandemic. We used to come here for family birthdays, but when the pandemic happened, we stayed home. Since my dad is a meat eater, and my stepbrother is a vegetarian and it was a dinner honoring him, he picked the particular spot. Lol my dad and stepsister were able to order dishes while my brother got Vegetarian ones and my mom got a fish dish. I really enjoyed the vegetarian samosas and the curry although the curry was pretty spicy and it did not state that it would be as spicy as it was on the menu. Lol then again I do know this is Indian food and spice pallet is much more advanced than mine. Server and we were able to get our food in an adequate amount of time. I really liked the ambience of the private room we were in and my dad and Boyfriend really liked the fact that the Olympics was on and they split the TV into quadrants! The restaurant itself was a rather dark and relaxing or had a lot of earth tones with beautiful paintings and statues. I really liked the subtle on of the paintings and wall fixtures. Did a birthday party at this Restaurant. Interacted with Amrit the manager, who is very well spoken and polite. Told him the amount of people, took his suggestion on using the buffet. Kept room ready for my party and had the seating arranged well. He adapted the buffet menu with one dish because we were a big party. Kept cakes in fridge and brought it out when we needed it. Great service, food was super AND both vegetarians and non-vegetarians were super happy. I always passed by The Mynt and wondered if it was a good restaurant. I finally decided to go in, and I was pleasantly surprised and glad I took the chance. The first thing you notice when you go in, is how clean it is! I've been to a lot of Indian restaurants, and this one is the cleanest of them all. When the server/host greeted me, he had a big smile and was very welcoming. Another server took over the rest of my visit, and he explained to me that the original server was new and learning other aspects of his job at that time. Needless to say, both of these guys provided excellent customer service. The food is delicious and reasonably priced compared to other Indian restaurants. Very flavorful, but not overly spiced. Having known many Indians, they typically like a lot more spices in their food, but for me, it was the perfect amount at The Mynt. I also noticed most of the customers were not Indian, and I assumed the lighter level of spices might be the reason why. I also notice that in the reviews, the only negative reviews are Indians unsatisfied with the lighter amount of spices as well. I usually go to Naan and Curry or The Yellow Chili when I crave Indian food. Both of these places have great food, but Naan and Curry is not very clean, and Yellow Chili is extremely overpriced. The one thing they have in common with each other is that they make me feel very sick after my visit. However, after my dinner at the Mynt, I did NOT feel sick at all. I actually felt great, and I plan to go back again to try their lunch buffet next week. They even went as far as to box my leftovers in takeout containers, rather than just bringing containers to me like most other restaurants do. Before leaving, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands, and again, a very clean bathroom as well. The cleanliness, quality of the food, along with the excellent service, leaves me no choice but to give The Mynt 5 stars. There needs to be a balance of sweetness and tartness with various chutneys but this Chaat tasted like it was garnished with sweet yogurt. I celebrated my graduation party at Mynt and don't know how to thank the restaurant owners and the staff for a flawless experience. Every dish was cooked to perfection. Some of my guests were eating Indian food for the first time and this was the best introduction to a culture with rich background. Some of my guests expressed that the food and chutney tasted much better than what they had before and some who I knew might not have a liking to Indian food and spices, were interested in the ingredients incorporated, the flavor and the presentation. We tried this restaurant for the first time, and we wouldn't recommend it. We went on a Saturday, and lunch is a buffet lunch. We noticed that the food looked like it had been sitting out for a while without being refreshed, especially the pani puri. Also, one big concern for us were the flies. They wouldn't let us eat peacefully, we had to keep shooing them away. They were around the buffet, and they sat on all the open items. It was not appetizing at all. Delicious! I was craving some Biryani today and it did not disappoint. in addition to the Awadhi Chicken Biryani I also ordered Chicken 65 and a Chai Tea. When I returned to my office, I had to call and find out which dish the yougurt complemented (silly me - I thought the chicken 65 but was informed it was for the Biryani). I actually used it for the Chicken 65, as the Biryani stood on it's own. The tea was very good and they included some sweeteners, which was much appreciated. I'll likely visit with my workmates soon. I forgot to check my Yelp review before ordering again today, bummer! I ordered butter chicken, rice, raitha and garlic naan. The chicken is truly awful and rubbery, I only ate one piece. I absolutely hate wasting food but I couldn't stomach to eat it. So instead I just dipped the bread in the sauce and ate that until I saw a hair woven into the naan... went hungry today. The rice was stale and the yogurt had no flavor. Back in 2010-2016 this place was insanely good. The chicken in food was cooked on the grill instead of the korma. It was too chewy and bland. The foods were bland in general, not what you'd expect from Indian foods. First and only time we went we saw the advertised buffet price as $17.95, but got surprised on Mother's Day with $25/person after we were done eating. There was also an unexplained $30 "service charge" (about 20%) out of nowhere. I'm guessing that was an obligatory tip for being a service-saving group instead of hassling them with 3 or more separate tables. It's hard to tell, because they had a separate space for tip. Maybe the extra $30 paid the bill for two mystery customers. Call ahead if you want to predict what you'll be paying. They might have had a special buffet, but since we've never been there, we wouldn't know. Most of the food was pretty good, but the lentil dish was bland, and two other dishes were way too salty. It is all white linen table cloths, and quiet. Great place for a date where you can hear each other. Service is very attentive. We ordered an app and a couple entries. This is a place that you should experience in person. They pay so much attention to detail on every plate. Everything from start to finish was 5 star. Malabar shrimp started us out. The fennel and spice was perfect, the plate was art. The mains we had were tandoori and tikka chicken. I've eaten all over the world and don't often say epic but wow.
