Was I in for a surprise... We ordered the Avachi special chicken biryani-family pack. It came with an appetizer. The appetizer, chicken 65 was really good (4/5). The biryani was awful. The spices were not cooked fully, so the raw spices and the garam masala was way too strong. The cloves and cinnamon was out of proportion. We could hardly have a few spoons. Had to settle for time and rested dal rice and yogurt rice! I hope it was one off and a result of Dec 31st. read more

Came here for their lunch buffet and tried all the vegetarian options. The vibe is casual and cafeteria like, and the staff were friendly and attentive. They came around offering naan and dosas frequently. For the food, the South Indian dishes were very good. I loved the mysore bonda, daal, and curries. The North Indian dishes were just average at best. The paneer butter masala was on the sweet side and the naan was average. Veg biryani had way too much potato. The chana masala was flavorful with a strong cardamom flavor. Desserts here were amazing. First time having gulab jamun warm and it was very tasty that way. The carrot halwa was also fantastic. The chikoo shake was refreshing. The chai was way too bitter. A bit pricey for a buffet, especially for vegetarians, but I'd come back. Our entire family got severe food poisoning after Friday's lunch buffet on June 27 2025. I spent a sleepless night due to stomach cramps as well. I personally walked out with a positive experience after the buffet. There were lot of varieties including several vegetarian options. They served piping hot naan and fluffy dosas at tableside. There was chole bathura as well. All the non vegetarian items were pretty delectable while the vegetarian items not so much. I frankly didn't have any issues other than liberal use of artificial colors. Artificial colors don't change the taste and flavor but apparently change the visual appeal. My personal opinion is that they make the food look toxic rather than appealing. Frankly there were no red flags while dining but all of us falling sick is the biggest red flag. I am extremely disappointed, I will call them to personally provide the feedback as well. read more

Overall, the food was too spicy for my taste, even though I asked for the food to be as mild as possible. In my experience, Navrattan Korma is usually not spicy, but theirs was the spiciest of the dishes we ordered; I could not eat more than a few bites of it. Anyway, it lacked the flavor I wanted. So, my search must go on. We ordered Palak Paneer, which was tasty, although a bit more spicy than I would like. We also ordered butter chicken, which was the best dish for me. I can't attest to the other dining options but the lunch buffet here is superb. There's a deep selection of vegetarian dishes, many you don't even get to see at most Indian buffets, like pickled cauliflower/gobi. For their drinks, they even offer mango lassi! The tables were kept clean, the food was stocked, and the water was room temperature. Dosa comes as part of the buffet and it's freshly cooked. It's good dosa. The naan comes hot to your table too. It's not good naan. It's not particularly bad, it's just a bit more chewy and thick then I would want my naan. Paneer was meh, chicken was good. The real star for me was the baby corn. It's so addictively good with its crispiness, it's breathe of heat, and it's sweetness. Definitely my favorite Indian buffet in the bay so far. read more

Take out review only - Friends visiting the Bay Area brought us the egg biryani & chicken biryani. They have a choice of spice levels - be warned that the Medium spice level is spicy. The biryani was packed well with a salan & raita to accompany it. Both biryani dishes were excellent, and the salan and raita complemented the flavors well. The best thali I have ever eaten in the BayArea. Every single item on the thali tasted amazing. Authentic Andhra taste in every single item. Cut mirchi for appetizer and Ghajar halwa for dessert. Pulao and chapati delicious! Broad beans curry and Eggplant Fry made sooo well! Special callout for the homemade yogurt, how can the yogurt taste so good! The meal reminded me of the festive homemade meals we used to have back home when relatives who are an expert in making a single item each, get together and put out an amazing thali!! The place stands out when you look for it due to the old school architecture. Inside is a bit small but if you get there early you can beat the crowds. You can't miss the colorful decor, and Hindi music plays on the television to complete the ambiance. The buffet is quite good, and many items are bold and spicy. Ther variety is very good as well. The paneer korma has quite a tasty sauce and the flavor is well balanced. The fried fish has an impressive coating of green spice on the outside, with the inside revealed to be white fish. Chai and mango lassi is included in the buffet, and are very good. There were two soups served as well. There was a mango pudding which had gulag jamun in it. The food is terrible - avoid it. There are tons of much better places to get Indian food (especially biryani). We got a veg biryani, special chicken dum biryani, and butter chicken for the kids. All dishes were really bad. The chicken in the biryani was tough and chewy. The veg biryani had tough paneer and mushy vegetables. Both felt like they were not fresh. The butter chicken was requested mild - they just added a bunch of milk or cream to a really spicy curry. It was watery and still super spicy. This review is only for their weekend breakfast buffet which I tried out recently. For $14, you get 2 Idli, 1 Vada, 1 kesari, 1 pongal and coffee. It comes with ample Sambar and 2 types of chutneys, both were spicy and tasty. Food tastes good and came promptly. Would advise people to go on weekends at least 15 mins after opening time to ensure all the food items are ready. Was grocery shopping and felt like stopping by at this biryani place. They had some council member event at the time so restaurant ordering was closed. I didn't realize this went in anyways and they were quite welcoming despite the fact it was closed for a private event. The staff was friendly and said I could only order Biryani at that time...worked out perfectly as that's all I wanted. Took a veg sun biryani to go - it comes with a small quantity of gravy and raita on the side. The Biryani was good - well balanced flavors. Texture of the rice was perfect...not too sticky, not too dry...felt fresh. Not the best I have eaten but was still pretty good. The best I have eaten is the one my mom makes The raita was quite watery. Quantity was just about right. I paid a total of ~$14 which included a small tip. I finally tried the biryani, which I highly recommend ordering in place of plain rice. Not spicy--the way I like it. Subtracting a star because of my most recent visit. Here's what happened: I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala (along with some other dishes) like I normally do. They projected a 20 minute wait time, and at the 20 minute mark, they came out to tell me that everything is ready except for the Paneer Tikka Masala because they were out of tikka masala. They asked if they could replace it with butter masala, and I said that was fine. 10 minutes later, I went home with my food. Although the dish was labeled PBM, which I can only assume to stand for Paneer Butter Masala, it was chicken! This is a really unfortunate mistake for customers who don't eat meat. By that time, I was too tried to drive back and complain and wait for them to make me something new, so I threw something together at home. I have noticed restaurants making mistakes like this more and more these days, so I'm trying to be good about checking the order before I leave. However, in this case, the dish was labeled correctly, and there was no way for me to tell until I put what I thought was paneer into my mouth only to discover it was chicken. I'm still willing to go back because the food tastes good, but they really can't keep making mistakes like this, otherwise I won't be returning. read more

Tried their weekend breakfast special. Their pongal, upma and Vadai were all right. Coffee was strictly okdokey..not filter coffee, not american. Imho, they could skip offering coffee altogether as anyways a few other reviews mention that coffee was not great. Chutneys were nice, but I wish sambhar were more flavorful. I have never visited the place but it's one of my favorite places to order in Doordash because of the great street chowmein that they make. This time, I ordered street chowmein with egg along with chicken lollipop and fish 65. The latter 2 items were big disapppointments as the pictures themselves will probably show. The drumsticks were very small, extremely dry and on the verge of almost being burnt. The fish 65 is similarly dry and almost burnt. In addition, the portion sizes of those items were also small. This place was a huge disappointment.. we ordered the Avachi special chicken biryani, ghee roast chicken, kadhai paneer, ulavacharu paneer biryani and naan.. they took forever to serve our food. They gave us the ghee roast chicken first and nothing else and we had to ask them multiple times (after waiting for 30 min) where our food was and the servers would just come and tell us that we had to wait 5 more min and they never showed up again.. the ghee roast chicken was completely cold when the rest of the food came so we asked the waiter to warm it up again and he took it to the kitchen and never returned with it again while he started serving other tables so we had to ask them again to bring it back after waiting for another 10 min... The food was not worth the wait at all.. the kadhai paneer had a small portion size for the price.. there was nothing special about the biryanis either.. in fact they weren't even biryanis.. they were just chicken and ulavacharu curries assembled with colorful basmati rice.. we had asked the waiter to make our food spicy and there was no spice at all.. and the ulavacharu was extra tangy and I like tangy food but it was inappropriately tangy.. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! The veggie dum biryani was the worst ever dum biryani of my life. Barely anything other than the rice. The veggies I find as you can see the string bean were overly boiled and mush. The paneer was hard like a rock and the potatoes burned. I wonder how they managed getting 3* by far. Chef has left so they have nothing South Indian on the menu (which was 50%). Tried to call them but their phone system (option 2 to speak with someone sends back a text to your phone) is designed to take web orders only. Delicious food with wide variety of vegetarians dishes which is hard to find in other Indian buffet. Staff is very friendly.

This was my first time at this restaurant. The main draw for me was the weekend special where you can get an array of different food items such as upma, idli, pongal, vada and it also comes with a sweet. You can take it to go or eat there but be aware you will be charge a little extra for taking the food to go. However, the food is still fresh if you take it to go and you get a side of sambar too. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't super crowded. They got out order ready in less than 15 minutes. Overall, the food tasted good and it wasn't too spicy. We also got coffee on the side and we were expecting it to be a indian-style coffee but it was a bit bitter for my taste. Overall, I would go back again for this special. Stopped by here for a spontaneous lunch with my dad. We ordered the veggie dum biryani. I have a very low tolerance for spice, and I find most biryanis are too spicy for me but this one was perfect! If you like spicy food, they do serve it with a spicy sauce to pour over the top. As other reviews have noticed, there weren't that many veggies in it and it was mostly rice, but in still found it tasty. My Dad who loves spicy biryani gave it 3 star. And they serve a great meal. We had simple stuff like dal makhani and it was impressively good. Simple dishes have to be got right before we can move on to the more complex one. The tandoori roti was good and a good size. We tried the fire naan and it was not that spicy as compared to the amount of thai chilli peppers on it. maybe they got seared and lost the heat. but it was a good and different addition. The ulavalacharu paneer biryani was also great. simple and good. The quantities are good for the price and so it seems like value for money.
